So have you seen the full reveals of the new TGF stamps on the DT's blogs this morning? They are all super cute, as always, but I have to say that I think the new Wild Sprout Savannah is my fave this release. I was so proud of myself for even guessing she was a can-can dancer on Saturday! It's the little things I tell ya... :)
Man, can you believe this is the last day of August? The summer really seems to have flown by this year. I guess the changing of seasons inspired me to make this card, as I am still all about my beautiful, crisp fall days. :)
I altered Anya from the Matey set for this one, just removed her sword and paper pieced her kerchief into a knit cap as well as a pieced sweater to match. Then I figured she needed a few friends and the squirrels came instantly to mind. Love how this turned out!

Challenging challenges

Good Sunday morning to you, hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. :)
I found the time to make this card for the Club Anya "I wanna be like Pam" challenge. Her work is amazing and I will be the first to admit that this card pushed me out of my card making comfort zone. As you have probably seen I don't do a whole lot of multiple layers... and though it took some effort on my part I'm really glad I did because I think they are exactly what this card needed. :)
Just FYI, there is a new sketch challenge over at Anyone for Anya this week... looks to be a fun one and the DT examples are fantastic!
And on Friday I finally got my act together and sent in my application for the Club Anya design team. There is no going back now, no choosing different cards, no more second guessing... and let me tell you the nerves have definitely begun and they just keep getting worse as the big day approaches. I know I can't be the only one out there feeling this way, so good luck to everyone trying out... the wait is almost over. :)

Yesterday I had time to sit down with Jessica's newest FFF sketch. I like to lay it down on the desk in front of me and then start flipping through my stamps to see which one wants to bring the whole thing to life. Cool and crisp

Mmmmmm... there is just the slightest nip in the air this morning and some of the leaves on the birch trees out front have begun to turn yellow. Summer is winding down and before too long I will be enjoying my favorite time of year. There is something magical to me about autumn, I have always loved it above all the other seasons... I'm sure it doesn't hurt having a November birthday either. :)
And this fall in particular is shaping up to be pretty darn exciting. More to come on that later, I promise you. So do you have a favorite season? Does it coincide with your birthday?
My card today is another quick one using a Hero Arts cutie and paper scraps... yes I'm still on a mission to lessen my stash and I think I'm going to have to extend my personal challenge beyond the summer, the scrap bags just aren't getting smaller as quickly as I had hoped.

Taking a breather

Well it may not be a Friday but I have a day off from work so that is good enough for me. I can relax, regroup and do some stuff just for me... like making this card for the first Anyone for Anya challenge. The theme is Sugar&Spice and as you can see I went pretty literal with it... LOL! You can't tell me that the Doodlebug papers and glitter border stickers aren't perfect for this sweet little baker. She is actually inspired by my youngest sister, who is becoming quite the baker/cake decorator. Maybe I'll give her this card if she makes me some vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting... what can I say, I'm a sucker for the classics. Hint, hint, hint Jacque... ;)
Returning to the actual making of the card, I used Teacher Anya's head and body (minus her arms) and Ballerina Anya's torso layered over it... I think it works as a frilly apron...
I've also been working on my submission for the Club Anya team. Right now I've got all three cards done but I'm not 100% in love with one of them... so I may just start playing around today and see if I can't come up with something that I'll be happier with. Or maybe I should just suck it up and stop second guessing myself and send it in. Ack! Decisions, decisions I tell ya.

I figured if I wasn't getting the job done making one card at a time maybe I could do it with three... A quick hello

Birthday fun

Well I hope everyone is enjoying this fine Saturday! I'm getting ready to help with a special little girl's 9th birthday party this evening. She wanted to do a crafting project so I put together some little 6x6 blank mini books and they will get to decorate them all up with a bunch of fun papers, embellishments and of course do some coloring of Anya images to make a kind of "My favorite things" book. It is going to be so cute!
The colors she picked out for the covers of the books were this teal and razzleberry combo so I had to use them on the card I made for her. It was perfect because I was able to use this week's FFF sketch challenge for it too... gotta love that. As you can see, I totally altered the Birthday Ian digi into a Birthday Anya and her hair is heavily influenced by pics I've seen of the Easter Anya digi (I'm still hoping and praying she becomes rubber this next spring so I can snag her up... hint, hint, hint Marie and Jess...). ;)
And thanks for all the nice comments yesterday about my decision to try out, they mean a lot to me! Right now I am equal parts nervous and excited about the whole thing, and you just know the nerves will take over the closer we get to decision time... yipes! :)

Decisions, decisions...

So I'm sure most of you have already seen the big news over at TGF and Club Anya... dt tryouts begin today. Zoinks! (said in my best Shaggy impersonation... you'll find I'm a master of impersonations via the written word, though not quite as impressive in person LOL!)
I have to say, it wasn't long after I found TGF and got my first Anya stamp that I would daydream about how cool it would be to be a part of their team. Well, now that chance has arrived and I'm ready to officially throw my hat into the ring. But wait! I have to choose a ring... I was not expecting this. I had assumed that it was just going to be a search for new gardeners, I had no idea there would be a new dt for Club Anya too! What's a girl to do?
Well I thought about it and as much as I love me some Wild Sprouts and other fun TGF stamps it was Anya who first hooked me and holds that special place in my crafty little heart sooooooo... it looks like I'll be trying out for the Club Anya dt! Wish me luck, there is SO much talent out there I know I'm really going to have to bring my 'A' game with this submission to even stand a chance.
And I extend that good luck and well wishes to anyone else who will be trying out for the teams. I have seen the high caliber of talent both on your blogs and in the galleria!
In honor of my decision, how could I not post an Anya card today? I made this one last month, testing out some designs for this year's holiday cards. Don't know if it's the one I'll go with or not but I do love that little angel. :)

Have I mentioned...

I used to do quite a bit of paper piecing. Yep, I would draw up my own patterns, trace them onto different papers, cut it all out and glue it together. I enjoyed it, there is something kind of zen and soothing about sitting and cutting paper with scissors. I even sold them on ebay for awhile but boy was it time consuming and hard to recoup all the time that goes into them. So I eventually realized that stamping is just so much quicker! :)
Still, every once in a while I like to sit down with my paper scraps and piece something together. This little witch is actually one I made a few months ago but was still waiting for a home so yesterday I made this card. She is actually just one of about six or seven little witch designs that I made, each doing a different activity. There is just something in my programming that makes me tend to work in series... if one is good five is better I guess... ;)
The same goes for most anything I draw... fairies, elves... well you get the picture...
So there you go, one more little factoid about me.
Fascinating, I know.
Living the life of an avid paper crafter is just one surprise after another I tell ya... LOL!

Let me start off by saying that I am not really a morning person. If I have the opportunity to sleep in a bit I normally do. But today I was up bright and early and I already feel like I've gotten so much crossed off my list and it feels crazy cool. Now my only decision is what to do with all this free time? I could go make some cards... always fun, orrrrrrr... I just might go do a bit of drawing and see what comes of that. Who knows, as productive as I feel today I may just do both! :)

Well yesterday was nice and restful yet still very productive, funny how that can happen... anywhoo I feel back on top of my game and even a little ahead of where I need to be so that is great! So glad to see some of you excited about my tease, I'm finding it hard to contain my excitement and not shout it all out at the top of my lungs BUT I must remain cool until the time arrives that I can spill the beans.

Happy Monday!

The past couple days I have been feeling a bit run down and under the weather so I'm glad to have today to try and shake this off and recharge the batteries. And I gotta say, waking up to see I was one of the winners in the Club Anya week of challenges definitely helps to boost ones spirits. I honestly was not expecting it considering the massive amount of talent being posted in the galleria... amazing cards in there!
Sooooo... today I am also working on some things that may or may not involve those fairies I drew awhile ago... it's too early to say much, but stay tuned as I will reveal more as I can... how's that for being super sneaky? ;)

FFF sewing challenge

For this week's FFF challenge at The Greeting Farm Elena issued a sewing challenge. Now, I have my mom's old Bernina and it actually sits at the end of my desk but when I let the desk get, ahem, a tad messy well, it becomes a hassle to pull it around. Needless to say most times I leave the mess and skip the stitching. Which is a shame because I really do love the look of stitching on a card or page. Luckily for me I have successfully managed to keep my desk clear for a whole week and it was easy to play along in the challenge. :)
And a silly little confession... I think this may be my fave TGF card that I've made so far. Ya see... I kind of view it as my TGF self portrait. Not that I wear big bows in my hair but it is about the same length and Reeta's clothes have a kind of fallish feel to me which is my fave season. Not to mention I just had to alter the cat into my crazy little Yorkie, Duke. Throw all that in with some of my fave paper from October Afternoon and this one will always be a bit special to me. I opened her eyes by wiping off the ink from the closed ones before I stamped and then I stamped Annika's head on a piece of scratch paper so that I could trace them onto Reeta using my Copic Multiliner pen and my lightbox... not too hard at all. And if you don't have a light box any bright window will do the trick. ;)

Jessica's Sketch Challenge

Back to work for me today, it's the 5th Anniversary of the LSS and we are hosting a big day long celebration... should be a ton of fun!
So yesterday I was able to stay on top of the Greeting Farm challenges and made this card for Jessica's sketch challenge. I liked the idea of using tags and the new Miss Anya worked perfectly with that idea since she was already sitting. I even got inspired by Elena's challenge to throw some stitching in there... overall I'm really happy with how this one turned out. :)

Club Anya smile and shine challenge

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh... do you know what that is? It is my sigh of relief that Friday is finally here. I have a day off, no place I have to be, I got to sleep in, it's cool and rainy... a day to just play in the craft room... perfect. :)
This is my card for Rosette's Smile and Shine challenge at TGF. For me this is really heavy on the bling so it did feel like a challenge. I altered Dress Me Up Anya just by cutting her hair into a cute little bob and opening her eyes. I was also experimenting with a darker skin tone combo that I'm pretty happy with, so it will be going in the 'keep folder' of Copic recipes. Does anyone else do that? Write down favorite color combos when they discover them? I find it really handy to have that reference when I'm coloring.

Club Anya javablu challenge

So last night I was able to make my card for Jacquie's javablu challenge over at Club Anya. When I first read it I knew right away which papers I wanted to use... this old 4x4 mini deck of Making Memories Cosmopolitan papers. It was perfect and the colors I used on Pretty Hat Anya were all pulled from there. The card has a much softer look than most of my cards do but I'm really pleased with how this one came together. And that, my friends, is why you've got to love a good challenge... they push you to try things you may not have done on your own. :) Supply list:

Club Anya crazy hair challenge

Yesterday was Traci's day to issue a challenge over at the Club Anya blog and it was to create an Anya or Ian with crazy hair. Her example was super creative, using eyelets and wire to jazz up the hair but luckily for me she made it as simple as coloring hair an unnatural shade. Between work and everything else I didn't think I would have time to get a card done and I really want to stay on top of these challenges as much as possible. It all worked out when I remembered these old Love, Elsie papers that I have been wanting to pair with Rockstar. Not only was it a fun one to make but pretty quick too!

Club Anya back to school challenge

I was so excited to read on the Club Anya blog yesterday, that challenges would be issued each day this week. I just love how a good challenge, well... challenges me to think and create within certain parameters. Having a certain starting off point, whether it is a sketch, color combo or something else really appeals to my card making nature I guess. :)
So yesterday Janna had a Back to School themed challenge and I immediately thought of this old DCWV paper in my stash and knew it was time to show Ian some love. He is actually a mix of Baseball Ian's head (with new eyes drawn in) and Dress Me Up Ian's body and clothes. Oh and I added the piece of chalk in his hand too... do any schools still use chalk boards these days? I think all I've seen lately are the white erase boards. I have to say they just aren't as reminiscent of school days as a good old fashioned chalk board is. ;) Supply list:

Altering...again...

Have I mentioned yet that I love all things magical and fantastical? I bet you would have never guessed huh? ;)
I think I have my Grandpa to thank for that. When I was little he would buy me those cheap plastic jewelry sets that they used to sell, I would put on my "princess" jewels and then he would sit me down and weave tales of Neapolitan ice cream eating princesses, trouble making fairies and all sorts of other characters. And my fascination only grew from there...
All of that to say this little card is my homage to Disney's Fantasia, something I first watched way back when and fell in love with. I especially loved the section about the centaur girls and the little cupids helping them to find their special centaur guy... awww... classic. :)
That and the Shimmers dolls, did anyone else own any of those back in the 80's? Little centaur mommas and a matching baby? Oh man I totally wore mine out I played with them so much!
Anyway enough reminiscing, I altered mermaid Anya and the digi unicorn stamp from TGF to make her and it really didn't take as much changing as you would think. I simply wiped away her tail before stamping and cut her out at the torso then layered her over the unicorn. Voila!

A clean desk is a good thing

I'm lucky enough to enjoy a little room dedicated to all my crafting stuff. It's nothing amazing but it's mine and I love it. The problem is that as I make a card or scrap a page I tend to leave the mess on the table. With each new project more paper and misc. items begin to amass until the amount of actual workspace is no bigger than a small card. Eventually I have to take a morning to clean it all off and I am always so happy when I do... so why can't I just keep it clean all the time? I don't know, part of me wishes I could do that but then again most times when I'm doing a 'big clean' I find things that I've had and overlooked and they inspire me to make a card as soon as the desk is clear. This card is one of those... I was putting away the little set of MME die-cuts, saw the frame and thought it was about the perfect size to house one of my little Ketto stamps. Though I am proud to report that I did manage to clean up immediately after I finished so the desk is still clean... for now... ;) Supply list:

Farm Fresh Friday... a day later

So usually I have Fridays off and get to jump right into the FFF challenge but since I was filling in at work yesterday it had to wait... but I'm so glad it did because look who showed up in my mail box yesterday! Woohoo! How stinkin' cute are these little Spooktacular stamps? As soon as I had them in my hands inspiration for using Mary's cool sketch was immediate and I'm really pleased with how this turned out.
And for all of you asking about my fairies possibly becoming digi stamps... first, thanks for all the interest, I totally wasn't expecting anything like this when I posted that first card... and second, I'm looking into it... finding out what I need to do to make this happen. Gossamer Cornwand

I'm sorry that I've got to post and run again... I'm filling in for a gal at work so not much time to blog this morning. But I did want to get up this fairy card I made from my own name and description. The card came out a bit darker and more mysterious looking than I will ever actually be... it must be all those little spiders... ;)
This is Gossamer Cornwand. She lives in spiderwebbed wonderlands and insect grottoes. She wears tiny black spiders on her dresses and has butterfly wings the color of yellow corn. Supply list:

Buttercup Reedweb

LOL, well Tracey F. you should like this one... my other sister is a Tracy too so her fairy name and description is almost exactly like yours. :)
This is her fairy, Buttercup Reedweb. She lives in clover fields where fairy rings grow and wears bright clover green with gentle green butterfly wings.

Tangle Goblinshimmer

First off, I gotta thank everyone for all the nice comments on my little fairy yesterday... I've been drawing for as long as I can remember and it's always a great feeling when people like your work. :)
As far as turning them into stamps, I can't say I've ever given it much thought and I wouldn't even know where to begin at this point. But who knows... a seed has definitely been planted...
So onto today's card. This is my youngest sister, Tangle Goblinshimmer. She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows. She wears a tangled dress of multicolored petals and has gentle green wings like a butterfly. Supply list:

Fidget Goblinspider

So the other day I was playing around on the internet and came across this fun fairy name generator site, www.emmadavies.net/fairy
You type in your name and not only does it give you your fairy name but also a little description as well. So I did my mom, my sisters and myself to see what came up... I thought they were so funny that I just had to draw up our fairy selves and make some cards. :)
This first one is my mom, Fidget Goblinspider. She lives in rotting woodlands near poisonous toadstools and wears red with white spots, like the toadstools. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.

Whew! That Anyaversary blog hop party was a ton of fun! I didn't get to participate in as many challenges as I would have liked, but work must come first. At least I got to see all of the talent out there in blogland... some pretty amazing cards, no doubt about it. A big thanks to Jess, Marie and the whole DT for hosting the party of the year! It was fab ladies!
