TGIF my friends!
Here we are at the last day of June and it's my final post for the 2017 month of mermaids. Which under the sea beauty had the honor of wrapping this all up... wait... what?! That's no mermaid you say... that's a merMAN! LOL, yep MerMan Kody from Some Odd Girl is seeing us off as we sail onto other themes for the rest of the summer. Once I got done coloring this hunky swimmer he ended up having a rather Stallone-ish look about him, don'tcha think? And that sentiment was too perfect not to pair up with this salty merman. ;)
Ok then, thanks for swimming the salty seas with me this past month. I hope you had just as much fun as I did. Toodles!

An ocean of love...
Hello, hello!
I've colored up one more gorgeous mermaid from A Day For Daisies to help wrap up this month of mermaids. She's called Ocean's Beauty and I just adore her vintage look. There's something about her hair and those big ol' ribbons that bring to mind old photos of girls from the 1890's. That association is probably a big reason why she ended up in the soft, monochromatic sea green combo that I went with. It suits her quiet beauty and peaceful looking nature. The distressed paper from Basic Grey totally inspired my coloring of her tail and I love how it turned out. I even used the same Copics to color the coordinating ribbon that I added to the bottom of the card. Talk about a totally different look from yesterday's card but that is why mermaids are so much fun, bright and bold or soft and subtle, they always look amazing. :)
Talk at'cha later!
Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink
paper- Basic Grey
printed vellum
digital stamp- A Day For Daisies (Ocean's Beauty)
stamp- Papertrey Ink (sentiment)
ink- Papertrey Ink stormy sea

Follow your heart...
Olo!
Today's quirky mermaid is another digi from Dilly Beans Stamps. Her name is Nina Mermaid and she was another one that has been on my digi wish list forever. Again those round little goldfish bodies totally make me smile. I kept Nina at a pretty normal size for an A2 card so that I could easily add the school of fish tailing along behind her. Once again I was inspired by the artist's way of coloring her creations and made that dramatic swoosh down to her nose. She is such a pretty little mer, love her!
Ok, I've really got to get going with my day. Have a good one everybody!
Supply list:
cardstock- Copic X-Press and Papertrey Ink

You are treasured...
Hi there!
It's Tuesday and you know what that means... time for my weekly 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card creation. For today's mermaid I grabbed the second Kraftin' Kimmie mermaid that was released this year, Florence Finbottom. I really can't get enough of these big eyed beauties and the fun scenes that they find themselves in. Florence has just come across some sunken treasure and I've got to wonder what she will do with all that gold? She seems pretty excited about it... perhaps she has her eye on a fancy new top at the local coral clothier. For the rest of the card I used a wave border die cut at the top of the colored panel then added this bright seaweed print from the Under the Sea paper pad peeking out at the top. And since I added a sprinkling of circular bubbles to the card I am going to enter this into the current "circles" challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. :)
Alrighty, well the June Challenge is in full swing over on the 7 Kids blog and with all the new goodies Kelly has been bringing into the store that $20 gift certificate that is up for grabs could really help to fill a shopping cart! So get crafty and join the fun!

Sea you soon...
Good morning!
I can't believe this is the last week of my month of mermaids for June. When I realized I only had five more mermaid themed cards to make it got really hard narrowing down who those last five would be. As I was going through things on my desk I found the Party Like a Pirate set from MFT and immediately remembered an idea I had for combining it with the Mermazing set. So I took a look at this week's sketch challenge and it all came together to really make the decision for me. I masked the mermaid off at the waist to give her the appearance of emerging from the water and I also turned the stamp so just the tip of her tail was poking out of the water too. Next I grabbed the pretty little pirate princess with her spyglass and added some palm trees behind her from the retired Tiki Party set. I colored in the sandy beach and ocean then masked everything off and stenciled in the sunshine in the background. I really couldn't be happier with how this card turned out. :)
See ya back here tomorrow for more mermazing fun!

You are the pearl...
TGIF!
I fell in love with this happy mermaid digi as soon as I saw her on Pinterest and I knew I had to track her down and get her on a card this year. She is called Breezy Mermaid and she is from the Faery Ink digital stamp shop. That round moon face with her smiley eyes and carefree grin totally won me over and I could just picture her hair flowing behind her on a gentle current. To flesh out the scene I die cut several different coral and glued them around Breezy, and I couldn't resist adding a couple starfish for good measure. I smile just looking at this happy mermaid and hope you do too. :)
Only one more week of mermaids to go... who will swim onto a card next? ;)

I'd cross an ocean for you...
Hello, hello!
I can't believe that I let it get this late in the month before getting one of the gorgeous mermaids from A Day For Daisies onto a card. I have a handful who have yet to fulfill their creative destiny and it was super hard to choose who would go first. Ultimately Mermaid's Lost Shoe won the day, mostly because I liked the subtle interaction between the two worlds being portrayed in this image. Now you may be wondering what's all this about a lost shoe? Well... the original image has the mermaid holding some high heel shoes. I masked them off before printing and was able to get rid of them since I didn't need them for the sentiment and scene I wanted to create. Then I got to coloring and I went for a very bright and bold tail on this mer, and yes the fluorescent Copics even came out to play, LOL! I even added a bit of fluorescent green to the ends of her flowing hair, I guess it got a bit of algae in it. ;)
Well, after a couple days off it's back to work I go. Have a good one!

You're a treasure...
Olo!
I've got another Whimsy mermaid to share with you today. This little beauty is called Mermaid Darling and she is quite suited to that name if you ask me. I went with the no-line coloring technique on Darling which allowed me to easily switch her eye line from looking down to looking up. I think this gives her a coy and rather teasing demeanor, like she is planning some sort of mischief with a pirate or two from that ship in the distance. Speaking of that ship, it's an old October Afternoon rubber stamp that I've had in my stash for ages just waiting for the right card to sail onto. Though I did use it with the My Favorite Things mirror image stamp so that it was sailing in the right direction. And I'm linking this card up as my first entry into this month's "anything goes" challenge over on the Whimsy blog.

Live in the sunshine...
Hello crafty friends!
It's time for my Tuesday card that I've made for 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store. This week I inked up the beautiful Mermaid Maisea from The Greeting Farm. She last swam onto a card about a year ago and I went in an entirely different direction this time around. I pulled a tropical scenery stamp set from my stash and used an ombre ink pad to sponge on a sunrise, or sunset I suppose. Once I had it done the old sailing adage came to mind, "Red sky at night, sailors delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning". So unless any passing ship wants to get marooned with Maisea here let's hope that this is a sunset sky, LOL! Though if you ask me, I certainly wouldn't mind getting lost in this tropical paradise with its magical mermaid lagoon. I'm also entering this into the "summer fun" Farm Fresh challenge that is going on over at the TGF blog this month. :)
And don't forget that we just started a new monthly challenge over on the 7 Kids blog so there is plenty of time to get creative. Kelly has an awesome $20 gift certificate up for grabs and you could be the lucky winner!

Wildest dreams come true...
TGIF everybody!
It looks like I started this week off with a mermaid in a bathtub and now I'm wrapping it up with another one! I've had this alteration in mind for quite some time and once I got my hands on the Becky Bubbles stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie I couldn't wait to give it a go. The original image has a girl in the tub with her feet sticking out of the bubbles but I thought it would be fun to wipe those feet away and stamp in a mermaid tail instead. I found the perfect tail on the old Aurora mermaid stamp and then just drew the bubbles in around it to pull the whole thing together. Growing up, the movie Splash was a total fave of mine... heck it still is, and the scene where Madison gets in the bathtub to enjoy having her tail again always fascinated me. Every bath time I would wish for my own legs to turn into a beautiful tail too, LOL! So when I turned Becky here into a mermaid reading a book I thought about what she would be interested in and in the end I gave her a "Walking For Dummies" book. Mer Becky is dreaming of legs just like I used to dream of a tail, thus the sentiment I grabbed which basically sums up this entire scene. How's that for a stroll down memory lane? ;)
Ok, I'm also entering this card into the current 'anything goes' challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie's. Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday!

Oceans of love...
Hello, hello!
I couldn't resist getting another one of the retired Sweet Pea mermaids by Elisabeth Bell onto a card this summer. I went with Oceanessa this time round and stuck with a pretty purple and blue color scheme for her and her noble seahorse. I was going for a shiny, silver look to her tail which I think adds to her cool North Atlantic look. They look ready to swim away with the current off on another grand adventure. :)
Later gators!
Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink
paper- Paper Source (waves)
stamps- Sweet Pea Stamps (Oceanessa), Sugar Pea Designs (Seaside Wishes set)
ink- Memento tuxedo black
My Favorite Things stitched border dies

Make a splash...
Hey there!
It's the second Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for the June 'anything goes' challenge over on the 7 Kids challenge blog. Playing along is easy, all you have to do is use at least one product that can be found in the 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store and link back to the challenge blog in your own post, which gives you a chance at winning a $20 gift certificate at the end of the month... who doesn't love that?
CC Designs has re-released my Sweet November Mermaids Hanalei, Nami and Nalu as a whole clear stamp set so I figured this was a great opportunity to ink them all up once again. It's hard to believe that it has been four years since their original release but I had just as much fun coloring them up now as I did then. And it is always cool to compare and see how far my coloring skills have come in that time as well. I did a bit of masking to fit all three of these lovelies onto one card then stamped the background cardstock with random fish stamps in tone on tone ink. So even though there is a lot going on the over-all design is still pretty CAS.
Ok now I hope to see some of my crafty friends joining the fun with me this month over at 7 Kids! :)
Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink
stamps- CC Designs (Sweet November Mermaids), Lawn Fawn (Mermaid For You set and Tank You set), Reverse Confetti (Mermaid Kisses sentiment)

Waving hello...
Hi there!
It's Tuesday and you know what that means... time for my weekly 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card creation. For today's mermaid I grabbed one of the newest Kraftin' Kimmie mermaids to hit the store and she's called Sandy Seawater. Now if you take a look at the original image you might be saying that this one looks a bit different... well, that's because I did a tiny bit of altering to her smile. As much as I love this mermaid in general, I wasn't super crazy about her wide open mouth. So after inking Sandy up I wiped away her mouth with a baby wipe and then stamped her on my cardstock. This left the bottom half of her face blank and all I had to do was draw in a simple smile line as a replacement. Those jellyfish were a lot of fun to color too, they had me pulling out the fluorescent Copics which hardly ever happens. Then I added glossy accents to them for good measure and that really brought them to life.
Alrighty, well the May Challenge just wrapped up but be sure to check out the 7 Kids blog tomorrow when June's Challenge kicks off! With all the new goodies Kelly has been bringing into the store that $20 gift certificate that is up for grabs could really help to fill a shopping cart! ;)

Splish splashy day...
Hi everybody!
I'm posting on the fly this morning so this one is gonna be real quick! I had to work late yesterday so I didn't have a whole lot of time to get crafty last night. Luckily I had this sweet Mermaid Bath stamp from Penny Black colored up and just waiting for a card. I wanted to make the background look like the tiled wall of a bathroom so I grabbed this old grid paper and mixed it with the starfish strip before die cutting the whole thing with the big stitched dome die from MFT. Then I just grabbed the lilac cardstock and threw it all together. Ya gotta love how quick a layout can come together with these dies. :)
Ok, I'm outta here... TTYL!

Mermaid for each other...
TGIF!
There is no way I could let this month of mermaids pass by without making a card or two with the super cute BB Mermazing set from My Favorite Things. I love, love, love this entire set and have been waiting for just the right sketch challenge to ink it up and play along. This week was the one and it inspired me to create an entire under water scene using multiple stamps from the set. Salty kisses...
Howdy folks!
Today's cutie mermaid comes from a 'new-to-me' digi company called Dilly Beans Stamps. Her name is Kiki Mermaid and she has been on my wish list since I first spotted a card using her on Pinterest late last summer. I immediately fell for her sweet face and that round little body. I can just picture her wiggling her entire body to swim around kind of like a goldfish or polliwog, which totally makes me smile. I blew Kiki up nice and big to really make her the star of the show and I was inspired to try a new way of coloring her face after looking at the artist's creations using her own images. The dramatic swoosh down to her nose was intimidating at first but I really dig the artsy look that it adds to her expression. That's why I truly believe that no matter how far you've come in your coloring journey it is always good to keep pushing that comfort zone we all create for ourselves. I also got a couple of her sisters too so don't be surprised if they swim onto a card or two later this month. ;)
Ok, time to get ready for work. Have a good one everybody!

A sun-sational friend...
Hey there!
Today I've got a retired beauty from Sweet Pea Stamps called Shell Whisperer. The way she is sitting on that rock I knew she would be the perfect stamp to try out my new Beach Scene Builder dies with. I can't even tell you how much fun it was playing with those dies. It took me back to my paper piecing days before I took up stamping, which is well over 10 years ago now... yikes! Anywho, the die cut pieces came together so seamlessly that I had that background created in no time flat. An island home for this pretty little island mermaid. My sister actually suggested the color combo for her tail and I'm really glad that I tried my hand at this purple to gold look because the results are quite striking. :)
Alrighty, I've got a busy day ahead of me so I best get myself ready for it. TTFN!

The tide always turns...
Hi there!
It's Tuesday and you know what that means... time for my weekly 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card creation. There are plenty of fabulous mermaid stamps to be found in the store making it hard to choose which one would be swimming on the scene today. I finally went with this gorgeous mer from Whimsy Stamps called Elania. Not only is she just the prettiest little mermaid but the rock, bubbles, coral and shell are all part of the image as well which makes for some pretty easy scene building. All I had to add was the sea bed, water and kelp and the card was practically done. Stamping the school of fish into the water behind Elania really brought the whole card to life. The sentiment comes from the Sugar Pea Designs Seaside Wishes set, which I got in preparation for my month of mermaids because not only did I love the sayings but the font is really lovely too. Alrighty then, I'm also throwing this in as my second entry into this month's "anything goes" Whimsy challenge. :)
You still have some time to enter this month's challenge over on the 7 Kids blog. Kelly has an awesome $20 gift certificate up for grabs and you could be the lucky winner so get to creating and join the fun!
