Olo!
I decided to wrap up Mermay 2020 with one more Dreamerland cutie altered into a mermaid. This time I inked up the adorable Wishing You Smooth Sailing Ahead because it reminded me of when I was young and out on the boat, leaning over to see if I could spot any mermaids swimming below. Only now, she is lucky enough to actually find a magical friend staring back up at her. I did this by taking the With You image, inking and mirror flipping just her head then stamping it in front of the boat. Then I grabbed a black pen and drew in a quick tail and hand poking up out of the water. For the background I was inspired by Melissa's beautiful Splash Seasong card to grab a sun ray stencil and use it as a guide while I was coloring the rays bursting out from behind the cloud bank. This was such a helpful tip and a real time saver! I also stuck with a very limited color palette of aqua and yellow with just a touch of neutral wood which I think lends this scene a slightly vintage appeal.
Thanks so much for sticking with me through this Mermay but I promise the mermaid magic isn't ending any time soon around this ol' blog! ;)

Love just got real...
Hello!
It's time for a new Scenic Saturday card over on the Bellarific Blog. With the arrival of June, wedding season normally goes into full swing. Unfortunately I've had two weddings in my family already have to postpone their nuptials until next year due to the pandemic and the resulting social distancing measures. Still, I've had this stamp mash-up idea floating around in my head for a couple months now so I went ahead and made this card happen... I can always save it until next summer, right?
The Uptown Zodiac Girl Gemini stamp has always been a favorite and it is so much more versatile than just the horoscope theme. When I added the beautiful Curvy Girl Bride to my stamp collection I immediately saw these two as a pair of bridesmaids posing behind the bride for photos on her big day. All I had to do was stamp Curvy Bride in the center of my card and mask her off. Then I lined the Gemini stamp up slightly behind her and only inked up the girl on the left and stamped. Next I cleaned the stamped and moved it over to the right just a bit then stamped the girl on the right. When I removed the mask the 'twins' had been separated and I had two lovely individual bridesmaids to color. The sentiment is borrowed from another Curvy Girl stamp set, Curvy Girl with a Newborn, and I think it works just as well here. :)
Stay crafty my friends!

Playing catch up...
TGIF my friends!
Apparently on Fridays we wear pink, LOL! After my Live coloring yesterday I realized that I needed to get the resulting scenes from my last two Lives on cards as well. Imagine my surprise when I pulled them out and saw not one, not two, but three pink haired Sweet November mermaids staring back at me... oy! You would think I would remember what we had done from week to week but apparently not. So this post is a reminder to myself to take a break from pink hair for a while. ;)
That's not to say that each of these mermaids isn't completely rocking their berry hued 'dos... they all look very sweet in pink. Belly Rubs was the first to get her strawberry sorbet colored hair and she is quite happy as she lounges on the beach with her little otter friend.
Glimmer Surfside was the next mermaid to see some pink, though hers has a fun ombre twist to it with the orange. I also changed things up and paired her with Echo the dolphin from one of the latest Vault mermaid sets added to the store.
And finally we have Harbor Sunnyshore with a couple of her penguin pals from yesterday's release. She got a razzleberry red/pink 'do that she is totally rockin'! There is certainly no regrets with all this pink but now it's time to show some other colors the love. :)

Go with the flow...
Hello again!
This week we are again adding two new digis to the Sweet November Stamps store. These lovely curvy mermaids were inspired by a conversation with SN DT member Melissa Andrew a few weeks ago as we were comparing the 'extra cushioning' we've put on during this quarantine to the Freshman fifteen many of us experienced that first year of college. I like to think it means there is just more of me to love and the same goes for these new sweeties. ;)
Harbor Sunnyshore is right at home in the cooler waters of the southern hemisphere where she is often visited by her penguin pals, Jetty, Rocky and Hopper. And just like them she is rather awkward when she travels topside but she swims like quicksilver beneath the waves.
Sometimes a mermaid just has to find a warm rock and take a break from all the hustle and bustle below the waves. And that is just what this Relaxing image is doing as she watches the flying fish put on a show.
Now be sure to go check out the Friends of Sweet November Stamps group on Facebook for even more curvy mer release inspiration from Melissa, Tee and out fabulous guest designer... Marker Geek herself, Elaine Hughes!
You can also find us on Instagram @sweetnovemberstamps and don't forget to use the #sweetnovemberstamps any time you share a card or project using SN images so we can see all of your beautiful makes!

Own it...
Hi there!
I'm back with my final guest post for Sassy and Crafty. Even though they have begun previews of the new June release I wanted to have a go with the gorgeous Own It set of Sassy Girls. It's been a hot minute since I've done any no-line coloring and these gals were the perfect challenge so I stamped them using Ink on 3 Fade Out ink and went to work. It's always scary getting started with a no line image, they look kinda freaky for most of the time but then as more elements get colored in finally that magic moment hits and all of a sudden you have a very cool looking colored image. While I know my shading isn't 100% perfect, I am still really happy with how these two beauty queens turned out. Because I spent the majority of my time coloring them up I wanted to keep the rest of the card fairly clean and simple so each one got their own color coordinated faux watercolor background and a bit of glitzy gold washi tape to finish the cards.
Toodles!

Build a kitchen...
Hello friends!
Marie has been continuing to add so many great new digi sets to the TGF store that I've fallen a bit behind on making cards with each of them. So today I'm starting to get caught up with these two card using the fabulous Build-a-Kitchen digi set. Once again this set is packed full of great builder elements that make creating tasty scenes a breeze.
For my first card I knew that I wanted to grab my retired Cheeky Cherry Pie rubber stamp and do some strategic masking before sending my cardstock through the printer to add the digital scene around her. The rolling pin and pile of dough that come in the BAK set absolutely had to be paired with her. I also borrowed a pie stamp from the retired Hello Fall clear set to make it look like Cheeky has been very busy making her berry pies.
My next card was easier to put together because I had the Cupcake Anya digi that I could pop right into her kitchen digitally. I used some different elements from the BAK set in this background, like the stove and stand mixer, since she looks to be quite the baker. I like to imagine this Anya is an avid Food Network fan with aspirations of opening her own bakery some day. ;)
Alrighty, time for me to go plan out my next TGF scenes to share here next week.
Laters!

You are magical...
Hello, hello!
Most every Sunday Elisabeth Bell sends out a creative newsletter where she includes a free digi and this past Sunday that freebie was this fabulous Mermaid Beauty. Previously she was a rubber stamp at Whimsy but has been retired for some time and is hard to find. So I was delighted to get this second chance at adding her to my mermaid collection. Obviously I didn't waste any time coloring her up and getting her on a card either, LOL! In the newsletter Elisabeth mentioned being inspired by the classic Sleeping Beauty Disney cartoon for this mermaid's look and I totally see it with that lovely peasant blouse she is sporting. I guess that is why I was inspired with the whole fairy tale vibe happening in the background too. Elisabeth also mentioned that she will be wrapping up MerMay this week by adding even more of her past mermaid stamp designs as digis to her store and I can't wait to see which ones become available again. I have a handful that I have been trying to hunt down for ages so you know I will be stalking her shop to see if any of them are there!

Have a bright sunshiny day...
Good morning!
I've been playing with more of my Sunshine Lake stamps and this time I mixed and matched them with a few of the older Stacey Yacula stamps in my Purple Onion collection. The new Lazy River background was perfect to set the scene for these camping cuties. Not only do I enjoy lake life but my home isn't far from the Columbia river as well and there are plenty of campgrounds along its shores that I drive past any time I head to the 'big city'. This inspired me to grab the Tent from the Sweet Summer collection and the Camper from the Happy Trails collection to help tell the story of a fun weekend camping trip to the river. There you will find Coco, the skunk, and Austin, the squirrel, playing a game of Frisbee.
There are still a few days left to take advantage of the bundle deal Purple Onion Designs is offering. The entire Sunshine Lake collection, all 25 stamps (27 images in all) plus the Sunshiny Sentiments (6 sentiments) are being offered at a 30% discount. The complete bundle is $115.00 and is available through May 31, 2020. You can find it all HERE.
Stay crafty my friends!

An ocean apart...
Hi friends,
Sweet November sent out our first newsletter today and I hope you were signed up for it because this beauty just got added to the store and she is free to all newsletter subscribers. The digi is called,The Look Out and it finds a lone mermaid leaving the safety of her watery home below to perch on a rocky outcrop, taking in the vast expanse of sea and sky. What will she do in this brand new world? Only you and your creative card making skills can answer that question. ;)
Not a newsletter subscriber yet? No worries, The Look Out can be purchased in the shop as well. Then next month there will be a whole new newsletter with a brand new digi for subscribers to grab for free. So what are you waiting for... go sign up!

So what are you waiting for... go sign up!

XOXO...
TGIF my friends!
I've been playing around with more Hello Bluebird cuties, this time pairing one of the magical fairies from the Fairy Garden set with one of the darling birdies from the Garden Friends set. When I sat down to color I was feeling that he very much should be a little bluebird. And with her leaning in like that I colored some puckered lips onto the fairy so it looks like she is giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. This totally makes me chuckle because I still don't know who loves her Hello Bluebird more... the fairy or me? LOL
I used the Pathway Background stamp once again because I just adore the sweeping motion of those clouds rolling through. The color palette was kept much more restrained than I normally do but I've been wanting to practice that to help broaden my coloring range a bit. So I fought the urge to add extra contrast all over this scene and instead focused most on the sweet pair up front. It's also a bit smaller of a scene because I knew I wanted to contain it in this pretty Gallery Frame #3 die. A couple of die cut Xs and Os from the Oliver Alphabet and this one was done. :)
Smooches!

You blow me away...
Hello friends!
This week we are adding two new digis to the Sweet November Stamps store, yep... TWO!
My initial inspiration for this week's mermaid was to have a whale that I could crop and blow up nice and big to really play with scale when paired with his mermaid friend. Then my sister got inspired by the whale idea and how it would be cute to see a mermaid riding the spray from a whale's spout. I gotta admit that sounded pretty fun too, so we ran with both ideas for a whole whale themed release.
We also added two more updated Vault mermaids earlier in the week, Coral Reefweaver and Moki as well as Ocean Wavedancer and Echo. There is one more Vault mermaid to come and we are hoping to add her this weekend. If you haven't joined our Friends of Sweet November Stamps group on Facebook you are missing out on all the awesome cards being shared there... so much talent and inspiration. You can also find us on Instagram @sweetnovemberstamps and don't forget to use the #sweetnovemberstamps any time you share a card or project using SN images so we can see all of your beautiful makes!
Now let me introduce you to Glimmer Surfside and her whale of a friend, Humphrey. Glimmer Surfside is a mermaid who can't be contained in just one ocean or sea. She knows there is a whole big, blue world out there to explore and she wants to see it all. Her favorite traveling companion is Humphrey the humpback whale and she regularly joins him and his pod on their migrations.
Next we have Splash Seasong who is a fun loving mermaid with a bit of a daredevil streak. the more extreme the water sport the more she wants to dive right into it! One of her favorite feats is to fly high into the air on the water spout from a whale and nail a perfect triple twist summer-salt dive on the way back down.
I will be coloring one of these lovelies Live today at 11am PST on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page and I hope to see y'all there!
Toodles!

Have a sudsational day...
Hello, hello!
My binder of Dreamerland Crafts stamps has been calling my name lately and I finally pulled it off the shelf to find a cutie to color up and get on a card. Now I know there are no Dreamerland mermaids but when I came across Relax in her tub of bubbles I knew that I could easily alter her into one by coloring a tail popping out of the bubbles. I was inspired by one of Melissa's beautiful mermaid color combos that she used recently and did the yellow tail and red hair too... talk about cute! I like to imagine this mermaid came across an old rusty tub left on the beach and she decided to give her scales a good scrub. Some glossy accents added to the floating bubbles really make them shine and the fun sentiment pulls the whole scene together. :)
Alrighty, see ya tomorrow with another Sweet November MerMay release!

Hey girl...
Hello friends!
I'm so happy to be guesting for Sassy and Crafty this month, their May release has a little bit of something for everyone. From fun critters to happy food, darling girls to sassy ladies, you are sure to find something to inspire. My card today features the super cute Girl Power set and since I couldn't narrow down which little darling to color up I decided to do a slimline card and create a besties card with all three. I stamped the middle girl first then masked her so the other two could be standing right next to her, their very own sweet as can be girl gang. I pieced together the sentiment from all the different words and phrases included in the set to reflect how important it is to have girl friends that are always there for you and to be one in return. :)
Ok, stay crafty everybody and I will be back with more Sassy and Crafty goodness next week!
