Our friendship is golden...

TGIF!

I recently pulled out the older Goldie set from Sweet November Stamps to make a few quickie cards for orders and this was the simple design that I came up with. That great wave stencil from Simon Says Stamp came out to play again, which made for fast backgrounds when combined with the Copic airbrush system. These two cuties were chosen in particular because I like how their eyes lead you right up to the sentiment at the top of the card panel. A sprinkling of enamel dots to mimic bubbles and I had a whole set of these ready to mail out. :)

Have a good one!

Time to celebrate...

Hello friends!

I gotta say, I'm having a hard time believing that we are already at the 4th of July. This year is flying by way too fast if you ask me. Still, I couldn't let the day pass without making a fun card to celebrate. I didn't have time to dig through my stamp stash to find any images that are specifically patriotic so instead I flipped through the pile of pre-stamped images on my desk to see if I could make any of them work. When I came across this cute Piggy Back stamp from the Summer Fun collection at Purple Onion Designs it instantly took me back to my childhood memories of sitting on my dad's shoulders to watch the fireworks display. Thus, an idea was born and I quickly set about coloring these adorable critters into a monochromatic night scene with just a few bright pops of color around the fireworks in the sky. I used a bunch of different color inks with an old fireworks set from The Ton and then airbrushed the sky around them. The ground and the critters were colored by hand in pretty much the same blue/violet hues with just a few hints of the firework colors reflecting off the edges. Once everything was colored, I stamped more fireworks and the sentiment from the Pirate-ments set, using Versamark watermark ink and white embossing powder to really make that sky dazzle and the sentiment stand out.

Here's wishing all those celebrating a very safe and happy 4th of July!

A big win...

Hello friends!

Today I'm celebrating a classic summer time activity with a fun baseball themed birthday card using some more of the new cuties from the
Amongst the Pines collection at Purple Onion Designs.
Rookie is the little fox who is up to bat while Warren and Sam cheer him on from the sidelines. In the distance you can see the  Woodland Horizon behind them, helping to set this sunny summer day scene. Since we are only a day away from the 4th of July I made the team colors red, white and blue for a nod to the holiday. Once all of the Copic coloring was done I grabbed a ruler and a fine point black pen to draw in the criss-cross lines that became the backstop. This simple addition really made the difference in creating some separation between the player and his fans. The sentiment is from the Great Outdoors Sentiment set which made it super easy to perfectly finish off this card.  :)

See ya in 24!

Free Shipping Days at 3C...

Good morning!

It's free shipping days at Colorado Craft Company, which means that for the next two days US shipping is free and international orders get $6.95 off on any size order. Making this the perfect time to grab some of the sweet new sets in the Confection Collection by Kris Lauren or add some older sets to your stash that work beautifully with this new release... like I've used on today's cards.

For my first card I've combined the big cupcake and cherry in the Sweet Life set with some adorable mice from the This is the Life Toadstool and Teacups and Mice sets. The combination is so seamless that you would never know that they weren't made to work together. As a fun little touch I colored some chocolate on the sleeping mouse's face so it looks like he has been treating himself to some of that delicious cupcake before falling into a contented nap.

For my second card I've used the chef's hat and flour bag from the Secret Ingredient set and then I cut the small bag, bowl and baking utensils from the Baking Background stamp to use individually. I love how this simple alteration to the stamp makes its uses even more versatile. The tiny mice from the older Mouse House set were the perfect scale to go with all these baking images and now it looks like they've raided the kitchen to make their own special treat.

Now don't forget that you still have through tomorrow to participate in the blog hop for a chance to win one of the new stamp sets. All winners will be randomly selected and announced on their blog July 3rd.  :)

Have a great week!
