Can't wait to see you...

 Hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today and I’ve created a sweet ocean scene card using the ever adorable Seaside Girls set. I've inked up both of these cuties in the past but this time I wanted to take them off the beach and actually have them go for a swim in the water. Not only that but I also still wanted to get some of the awesome By the Sea Background stamp onto this card, even though most of it focuses on the sandy shore. To accomplish my goal of getting the Seaside Girls in the water I simply had to decide where I wanted them to be within the design then ink up only the top half of each of their bodies using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. The one holding the shell was stamped first, then masked off. I then overlapped the second girl just a bit so that when I stamped her onto the card stock she would appear to be slightly behind her friend. I did the same selective inking technique with the piling on the other side of the card, though I had to stamp the seagull first (minus his legs) then mask him off so it would look like he was resting on top of the piling. As for the By the Sea Background, all I really needed for my scene was the lighthouse in the distance and the ocean horizon line with the clouds sweeping across the sky above. I placed the large stamp in my Misti and used the light Studio Calico Glass Slipper ink just on the clouds and top line of the sea. I then added Memento Rich Cocoa to the lighthouse and the sand dune line beneath it. That was all I needed to make it easy for me to fill the rest of the scene in with water. Using my Copic markers I completed the sand dune that is in front of the lighthouse and added the little rocky island on the other side of the card. Then all I had to do was grab a variety of blue and blue/green markers to start filling in the ocean waves and sky. For the water I used long sweeping brushstrokes across the card in various shades to create the look of small, rippling waves. Once all the Copic coloring was finished I went in with a white gel pen to add extra ripples and highlights to the water's surface. The sentiment was borrowed from the Beach Play set and stamped on a scratch piece of white card stock using Catherine Pooler All That Jazz ink and cut down to a narrow strip that I adhered to the card front using foam adhesive.

I'm so happy that these girls have finally gotten to enjoy a dip in the deep blue, LOL!  :)

Stay cool and stay crafty!
