Here we come a-caroling...

Good morning!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today and with Christmas only a week away the sound of carols fill the air every where you go. This musical inspiration had me reaching for the adorable Merry Carolers set that released last year, so they could sing their sweet harmonies once again. There are so many caroling critters to choose from included in this set but I finally settled on this sweet quintet  of the bear, rabbit, squirrel, deer and mouse, to color up for my card. To get all of the carolers grouped tightly together I stamped the mouse and rabbit first using Memento Rich Cocoa ink, then masked them both before stamping the the rest of the animals slightly behind them. Using Copic markers I colored up each of forest animals, giving them scarves and mittens in a festive coordinating color scheme. For the background I decided to color these Merry Carolers into a snowy winter wood scene using soft blue and violet hues. The soft and subtle scenery allows the cute critters to really pop and take center stage. With the coloring complete I stamped the music notes above and the sentiment below then proceeded to cut the whole thing out using the Nesting Deckle A2 dies. It's hard to tell in the photos but I used a white card stock that is embossed with a wood grain texture for the card base, which I thought tied in nicely with the winter feel of this joyous scene.
