Time to celebrate...

Hello friends!

I gotta say, I'm having a hard time believing that we are already at the 4th of July. This year is flying by way too fast if you ask me. Still, I couldn't let the day pass without making a fun card to celebrate. I didn't have time to dig through my stamp stash to find any images that are specifically patriotic so instead I flipped through the pile of pre-stamped images on my desk to see if I could make any of them work. When I came across this cute Piggy Back stamp from the Summer Fun collection at Purple Onion Designs it instantly took me back to my childhood memories of sitting on my dad's shoulders to watch the fireworks display. Thus, an idea was born and I quickly set about coloring these adorable critters into a monochromatic night scene with just a few bright pops of color around the fireworks in the sky. I used a bunch of different color inks with an old fireworks set from The Ton and then airbrushed the sky around them. The ground and the critters were colored by hand in pretty much the same blue/violet hues with just a few hints of the firework colors reflecting off the edges. Once everything was colored, I stamped more fireworks and the sentiment from the Pirate-ments set, using Versamark watermark ink and white embossing powder to really make that sky dazzle and the sentiment stand out.

Here's wishing all those celebrating a very safe and happy 4th of July!
