A sunny beach day...

Hello, hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog and I’m so excited to be sharing a card using the new Sun, Sand and Surf kit that was just added to the Hello Bluebird store last night. Get ready for some super cute summer themed crafting with all of the fabulous stamp sets and awesome dies that can be added into the mix. This particular trio of cute critters are from the Beach Friends and Jungle Littles on the Beach stamp sets, both of which are included in the smaller Classic Card Kit. I love how beautifully all of the characters from the various sets work together, making mixing and matching a dream!I began by stamping the tiger from Beach Friends and the sweet little sloth from the Jungle Littles on the Beach, then masking them off before stamping the panda slightly behind them using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. With my characters in place it was time to color them using my Copic markers. I also colored in the sandy beach they are relaxing on before masking them and the beach so that I could create the rest of the background using the Beach Slimline Scene die

Rather than use the die as-is, I instead cut it out using some scrap card stock and laid the pieces down where I wanted them, adhering the edges with low tack tape to keep them in place as I used the Copic airbrush system to spray colors over the stencil that I had created out of the die. Once the pieces were removed, I was left with a soft, dreamy sky and sea for these friends to enjoy. I was so pleased when this technique worked out because added versatility to the tools I create with is always a good thing.Next, I framed the scene using Gallery Frame #2 in a sunny yellow card stock that I knew would match the umbrella that I was about to complete their little story with. The Beach Umbrella Die set is another one of the great add-on options and rather than piece it together, I colored on the stripes by hand. The pole took a bit of fussy cutting so that I could make it appear to be staked into the sand behind the tiger and up though the canopy of the umbrella. With the scene finally complete, I could add a sentiment from the Beach Bums set into the open space that I had left opposite the critters for a darling summer greeting.

Toodles!
