Happy, happy, happy summer...

Well, things from the Sun, Sand and Surf kit from Hello Bluebird have been selling out left and right but I've still got a few cards to share. This first one was made to really showcase the Happy Summer Words die so rather than do my usual background scene coloring, instead I opted to do a simple and subtle stamping of the palm trees from the Beach Bums set. I used the Gallery Frame #3 die in a bold red to frame the background then layered the word dies over top. The cute little monkey from the Gone Surfin' set was colored and cut out using the coordinating die so that I could pop him up with some foam adhesive right in the center of the card. The sun embellishment is something I found in my crafty stash and I think it adds some extra cheeriness to this fun summer themed card.

 

My second card combines the relaxed koala from the Beach Bums set with the smaller koala in the Jungle Littles on the Beach set. I love how they kinda look like father and son enjoying a day at the beach together. The sand castle and pail can be found in the Beach Friends set and in the background I only inked up one of the palm trees to change up the look a bit. The sand and sea were colored in by hand but when it came time to fill in the sky I used the cool clouds from the Beach Umbrella die set as stencils and airbrushed the blue sky over them. Gallery Frame #1 gave the scene a bold border and the die cut seagull silhouettes from the Wave Scene die were the final finishing touches to this cute card.
