Seas the day...

Hi there!

Since it is the last day of August I figured it was high time to share this beachy scene using the flamingo from the Sea Birds clear set at Sweet November Stamps. I paired this plucky guy with the island and rocks in the Dock on the Bay set and made sure to stamp the foot he is standing on in a lighter grey so that when I colored the water over top it would look submerged. There is just something about a peachy pink sky combined with cool blue green waters that always looks so pretty so of course I couldn't resist coloring this as a sunset scene. It makes me think of an island paradise, one that I wouldn't mind relaxing on right now myself, LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ghouls rule...

Hello, hello!

This cute Mini Medusa is part of the Lucky 13 Halloween clear release at Sweet November Stamps. Sure, everyone says to beware her stony gaze but she sure looks sweet to me. It's not her fault if she is misunderstood and just wants to be left alone to hang out with her snake pals. So when some upstart adventurer does come barging through her door looking for trouble, what's a girl to do?  ;)

I had a lot of fun with this one, going so far as to even free hand that recent addition to her statue gallery. The rest of the background is pretty much a simple black and white scene where I relied on coloring in the space around the columns in order for them to look like white marble. I then added some pops of green with the sentiment from the Tricks No Treats set and the Doodlebug enamel dots to tie right back to those adorable snakes on Medusa's head.

Toodles!

Boo...

Hello, hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today and now that summer is drawing to a close my crafty endeavors are taking a decidedly more autumnal turn. So when I grabbed the new Nine Lives stamp set full of cute kitties I was inspired by my own black cats and from there my thoughts turned towards Halloween. That lead me to flip through my older Halloween themed stamp sets to see what kind of mash up I could create. Ultimately I fell in love with this happy ghost from the Ghostly Greetings set and knew that I had a purrr-fect pairing. I chose to ink the two kitties that are looking up to the right so that they are both fascinated by the friendly specter appearing before them. I also added one of the jack o'lanterns from the Ghostly Greetings set, to the growing scene. Feeling the need to add some height to the background I actually went to my collection of dies and found the Halloween Tree die. Rather than using it as-is, I instead used a black pen to trace the outline of the die directly into the scene so that it would appear to be growing out of the ground behind the pumpkin once colored. With the scene ready to color, I had to settle on a color palette. I didn't want to go super spooky with a nighttime sky so instead I thought glowing, golden fields would be pretty and allow my two black cats to really 'pop' in the scene. The minty green glow of the ghost also works well with all that yellow. So I sketched in a winding path, meandering off into the distance, surrounded by fields ready for the fall harvest. The sky is overcast and cloudy so that I still had just a bit of spookiness going on. To complete the card I stamped the large "boo" from the Spooky Script sentiment set near the ghost and used a white pen to add some magical sparkle around him as well. The entire scene was cut out using the largest die in the Nesting Deckle A2 die set and mounted on a dark brown card base. I think it turned out just spooky enough and I certainly wouldn't mind if these cute black cats crossed my path, would you?  ;)

Think pretty thoughts...

Good morning!

I'm popping in real quick with a card that I colored during a Live back in July over on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page. For this fairy tale scene I paired the pretty, seated princess from the Royal Treatment clear set at Sweet November, with the older Pond Scene Builder and Waterfall Foliage sets. She is joined by one of the cute little frogs that are part of the same stamp set, which plays into the classic Princess and the Frog story. With all of the pretty pastels and sunny scenery I figured I should finally get this posted before the seasons really start to change in earnest and I move on to all things fall with my card making.  ;)

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!

Let's hang out for a spell...

Hello again!

I'm back with a couple more cards from the new Haunted Staircase digital release as well as a card using the August Freebie that went out in last night's SN Newsletter

Because these creepy/cute Li'l Grimmies are pretty quick to color up, I managed to create two cards during the Live over on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page yesterday morning. We started with Li'l Grimmy Scary standing on the Haunted Staircase with the torch glowing on the wall above him. And even though he ended up getting the fire like glowing eyes again, this time around his robe is a deep, rich red. After the video I added this fun sentiment from My Favorite Things which makes me chuckle paired with this li'l guy.  :)

Next, Li'l Grimmy Sweet finds herself on the Haunted Staircase with a trio of bats flying right out of the scene and into the open space left in this CAS design. The bats are part of the Flutterbee William and Flutterbee Drusilla digi sets and I think they look quite cute with Grimmy. The sentiment is another one from My Favorite Things and I sprinkled some sequins up with the bats to add to the movement across the card.

Finally, the August Newsletter from Sweet November Stamps included a brand new digital stamp that fans of the Lovin' from the Coven clear set with be happy to see. Lovin' from the Coven: Warlock is a handsome young wizard ready to cast a spell on a Halloween card or two. Whether you use him on his own or pair him with the clear stamp witches he is sure to bring the Halloween magic into your card making.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!  :)
