Wishing you a special Easter...

Good morning!

There are still a few days left to play along in the Spring Challenge at Hello Bluebird. All you need to do for a shot at winning a $50 gift certificate to the Hello Bluebird store is create a new card or project using HB products that is inspired by the pretty mood board above and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #hellobluebirdspringchallenge by 11:59PM MST on March 31st. The winner will be randomly selected and announced on the HB Instagram account on April 1st.

For my inspiration card I inked up some of the cute critters in the Little Painters set and paired them with the birch trees in the Picked For You set. They are just getting ready to paint their Easter eggs in the pretty pastel hues of the mood board while the bunny and trees have that malted milk chocolate color from the challenge. I did have to throw in some soft green for all the grass in this scene but I tried to keep it as soft and muted as the rest of the colors. I die cut a simple white frame, using the Gallery Frame #1 die and it really makes those eggs pop, LOL! The Easter Banner Sayings sentiment was also heat embossed in white to match but my sky is so light that it gets a little lost. Oh well, I just chalk it up to being a handmade card.  ;)

Later gators!

Good Company...

Hello friends!

The August Mood Board Challenge began yesterday at Hello Bluebird and once again there is new inspiration up on the Hello Bluebird blog to help get you inspired to join the fun, I've also posted it below. Just like last month, there will be one winner selected to receive a $50 gift certificate to the HB shop and now you have three weeks to get a card or project submitted... how awesome is that?! Just check out HB's various social media accounts for all the details.

Once again I was inspired by the Mood Board's color palette. The bold and vibrant hues of red, fuchsia, orange, and yellow took me right to a gorgeous sunset sky. I then grabbed these two from the Besties set and stamped just the tree from the Country Roads Background. When it came time to color them all in I went very dark and dramatic with the silhouette look and I love how everything pops against that bright sky. I then framed the scene in using the Gallery Frame #1 in a matching dark brown and called this card done.  :)

Laters!

What's up...

Hello friends!

The July Mood Board Challenge begins today at Hello Bluebird and once again there is new inspiration up on the Hello Bluebird blog to help get you inspired to join the fun, I've also posted it below. Just like last month, there will be one winner selected to receive a $50 gift certificate to the HB shop and now you have three weeks to get a card or project submitted... how awesome is that?! Just check out HB's various social media accounts for all the details.

Even though you can now pull inspiration from the various photos in the mood board I was still inspired by the bright, summer color combo. My mind went to a tropical place which had me reaching for the Silly Birds stamp set. I chose this funny little guy and turned him into a cockatiel by stamping some of the smallest leaf fronds from the Portrait Pals set onto the back of his head. I also used those same palm fronds to fill the background of the circle panel with foliage. The small sentiment was stamped onto one of the speech bubble dies that are in the Photo Stack die set and I added some vines from the Jungle Littles stamp set hanging down from the circle panel as a fun touch. The bright pink enamel dots not only add more pops of color throughout the design but they also cover up a couple spots where I glued vines together to lengthen them. I don't know about you but this sure says tropical to me!  :)

Have a great weekend!

Oceans of love...

TGIF!

It's been a long while since I've participated in an MFT sketch challenge and since I really wanted to ink up the new Oceans of Love set by Rachelle Anne Miller I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out. I was sold as soon as I saw that the sketch looked like a bunch of waves flowing across the card... talk about perfect! So I set about stamping and masking everything into place. There are so many cute accessory stamps in this set and I'm pretty sure I used them all on this card, LOL! I then began coloring in the background, breaking the wavy sections into four parts... one of sand at the bottom then three sections of water graduating from dark to light as they move up the card. I did end up moving the placement of the sentiment from the bottom right to the upper left because I had more empty space up there, but otherwise I followed the sketch pretty faithfully. And just like that I had a super cute card ready to send out.  :)

Have a great weekend!

Better at the beach...

Hello again!

The June Color Challenge begins today at Hello Bluebird and there is a fabulous new mood board up on the Hello Bluebird blog to help get you inspired to join the fun, I've also posted it below. Just like last month, there will be one winner selected to receive a $50 gift certificate to the HB shop... how awesome is that?! Just check out HB's various social media accounts for all the details.

The colors in this mood board lead me towards a beach inspired look so I went through all of the beach themed stamp sets in my HB collection and thought that the cute pigs in the Beach Babes set would be perfect. Their peachy/pink skin ties back to the coral colors in the mood board nicely leaving me with the blues and cream for the background elements. I borrowed bits and pieces from the Beach Play, Hippos on Holiday and Seaside Girls to help flesh out the scene before masking everything and stamping the By the Sea background stamp, minus the big billowing clouds, over top. Once it was all colored in I used one of the smaller dies in the Nesting A7 die set, making this card a bit larger than my usual A2.

Hope your day is a crafty one!

Just to say thanks...

Olo!

It's May 1st, which means we are kicking off a new monthly challenge at Hello Bluebird! There is a new lovely mood board up on the Hello Bluebird blog for this next color challenge to help get you inspired to join the fun and I've also posted it below. Just like last month, there will be one winner selected to receive a $50 gift certificate to the HB shop... how awesome is that?! Just check out HB's various social media accounts for all the details.

For my inspiration card I played with the proportions of the four challenge colors, choosing to focus mainly on the pretty blue shade and using the other three colors as the little back-up singers. I used the Partly Cloudy die to cut out the background  and added various prints to most of the clouds using a whole slew of the Hello Bluebird background stamps, which you can find links to in the supply list below. Next I stamped and cut out the Big Greetings sentiment in that grassy green color and glued it to the center of the card. Finally I stamped a bunch of the cute birds from the Feed the Birds set and colored them in the sunny gold and rosey pink shades of the challenge. The end result is simple and cute card that is easy to replicate. :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Happy Easter...

TGIF!

It's April 1st, which means it is April Fools Day but one thing that isn't a joke is that monthly challenges are starting back up at Hello Bluebird! There is a beautiful mood board up on the Hello Bluebird blog for this first color challenge to help get you inspired to join the fun. Every month there will be one winner selected to receive a $50 gift certificate to the HB shop... how awesome is that?! Just check out HB's various social media accounts for all the details.

I kept my inspiration card pretty clean and simple for this one, using my Copic airbrush system to apply a soft wash of pastel hues to the background of this mini slimline card. I used the Charlie Large Outline Alpha dies to make the sentiment look like frosted cookies decorated for the Easter holiday and used the same pastel colors on the little scene above where I paired elements from the Meadow Bunnies, Spring Gatherings and Little Painters stamp sets. I think the whole thing looks like a piece of sweet Easter candy, LOL! Well, if you are a fan of Hello Bluebird I hope you find some time to play along in the new challenge and best of luck to those who do!

Stay crafty my friends!
