Be yourself...

Hello friends!

I recently placed an order for some much needed card stock and before I could check out, I couldn't resist adding this pretty Marie Girl from Picket Fence Studios to my cart. I have quite the collection of these beautiful Girl stamps and I'm ashamed to admit that it has been quite some time since I've inked one up. That's probably because with all of the line work in these images, I prefer to stamp them in a light ink because the no-line technique allows a broader range of colors that I can use in their lovely hair and eyes. Coloring no-line always takes a bit more time because it is less forgiving than when you are working with the strong black lines that can hide little coloring flaws here and there. But, I had the time yesterday and the itch to stretch those coloring muscles just a bit. So I stamped Marie Girl using Memento desert sand ink and took my time adding all the fun details to her. After all that coloring on her I kept the background super simple, just some blue sky and a big ol' bush framing her pretty face. What a fun change of pace this was.   :)

Have a good one!

This beautiful life...

Hello Friends!

I was straightening up my craft desk the other day, as it was getting a bit out of hand with the clutter, and came across an order of Picket Fence stamps. They had gotten a bit buried beneath the rest of my card making paraphernalia before I had a chance to put them away in their proper binder so it felt like I had gotten a new order all over again, LOL! This stylish BFF Faith Girl was part of that order and I simply had to ink her up before putting her away. So I stamped her on a mini slimline card front and got to coloring. I love her casual, cool summer look and had fun giving her a graphic tee that I saw on the American Eagle website. When Faith  needed a home to live in, I masked her off and stamped in the new Sketchy Corner Backdrop from Stamping Bella. I can't even tell you how much I love this stamp, it makes creating a more urban scene super quick and easy! Anywho... I think the mash up looks fantastic and all I had to do to finish this card was stamp on a sentiment to tie it all together and it was done. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by, I'll catch ya in 24!

You say witch...

Hello there!

Who's ready for Halloween cards? Me, me, me! Yes, lately I've been feeling that itch to start transitioning into the next season of card making as we head into the final weeks of summer. Even though we haven't had a break in the hot weather yet I am ready for things to get a bit more cool and cozy. So when I saw all the fab new Halloween stamps in the latest Picket Fence release I quickly added them to my 7 Kids cart. The sketchy looking witches in the If You've Got It, Haunt It set were the first to catch my eye and then I fell in love with the On an Autumn Day background. The nice thing about it is it's versatility because I can totally see using it for all the seasons just by changing the sky colors and using my Copics to add more leaves. The sentiment even comes with the small Witch, Please set... so much Picket Fence goodness on one card, LOL! You might notice that I couldn't resist giving my sassy witch a head full of big, bouncing curls a la Cher in The Witches of Eastwick, and I think she looks fabulous with her new 'do.  ;)

Don't be surprised if more fall and Halloween cards start showing up here on the 'ol blog cause there's no going back now, LOL!

One sip at a time...

Good morning!

It's my day to post at 7 Kids and considering it has been a while since I've inked up a Picket Fence beauty I figured this was the perfect excuse to get one colored up and on a card. I debated between Beautiful Girl Kendyll and Beautiful Girl Kiki because they both look like summertime sweeties. Ultimately what gave Kendyll the edge was the drink she is sipping on as it gave me a very definitive direction to take the rest of the card. But don't feel bad for Kiki, I'm sure she will get on a card of her own before summer is out. With all those pretty flowers in her hair I imagine Kendyll as a runaway bride's maid who has skipped out on the reception for some relaxing time at the beach. And when she came across the little ice cream shop she decided to treat herself to a delicious milk shake. I don't know if her glasses where meant to be sunglasses but I colored them in that way and I think they look quite stylish. I stamped Kendyll in desert sand because I really wanted to give her blonde hair and I just always love how soft and dreamy no-line coloring is... I think it suits her. :)

Stay crafty my friends!

I miss seaing you...

Hello friends!

So I got this sweet Little Coral Girl mermaid from Picket Fence Studios late last fall and she has been waiting ever so patiently for MerMay. Now here we are and it is time to get her on a card. I stamped her in desert sand for some no-line coloring along with some of the extra accessory stamps like the seaweed and hermit crabs. Once I had them and the
background colored up I grabbed the little fish silhouette stamps and added them to the water in a light blue ink along with some of the larger, more detailed fish from the I am a Mermaid set in a darker blue. I thought the sentiment suited her demure look quite nicely and pulled the whole scene together. :)

Alrighty, I'm off for a fun day of crafting and coloring, catch ya in 24!

At the department store...

Good morning!

The new Vendor of the Month at 7 Kids is Picket Fence Studios. They have so many great stamp sets from sweet and cutesy to posh and stylish, which made it hard to choose what to ink up first. I finally settled on the newer Shop Hard set because I just dig these funky, cool looking ladies so much. The sentiment is included in the set and even though I am personally more of an online shopper, it made me chuckle. It also inspired the direction I took this card by coloring her into a boutique looking clothing store. It looks like the new spring line is out, I wonder if our shopaholic will find anything to her liking? ;)

This is going to be a busy week of previews to I hope you check back again tomorrow!

Have a great day...

TGIF!

It's my day to post at 7 Kids and when it came time to decide on which stamps to color up these little Sunshine Friends from Picket Fence totally won me over.  I'm pretty sure that I added the one peeking from behind the heart hedge to my collection first but when I got the tall standing cutie I could just see these two interacting really well with each other. All I had to tweak in order for the scene to work was make sure I didn't ink up the bottom half of the heart hedge so that it looked more like it is growing directly out of the ground. Then I masked off the taller flower sprite and stamped the hedge again to stretch it all the way across the card. Now they look like two friends chatting with each other on a lovely afternoon. I'm such a sucker for these fun Sunshine Friends and I can't help but hope that Picket Fence will introduce more so this little circle of friends can continue to grow. ;)

Well, I hope you all have a beautiful spring weekend to enjoy. See you on Monday!

The smile you gave me...

Good morning!

When it came time for me to choose a stamp for my 7 Kids post today I knew that I wanted to use something from the newest Picket Fence release. I still had my most recent order sitting on my desk and as I flipped through the stamps this pretty BFF Girl Avery immediately caught my eye. There is just something about the loose, sketchy way that these long lanky girls are drawn up that totally appeals to me. The one complaint I had with Avery, if it can even be called a complaint, is the fact that her dress is solid in the stamp so if you use a black ink to stamp her up the dress is automatically black. Now you know me and how much I love to color, so of course I want to be able to color that dress too! Luckily, there is an easy solution and that is no-line coloring. I mean come on... just look how great she looks all decked out in pink now! Because the height of the stamp nearly spanned from the top of the card to the bottom I thought it would make for a cool card design to cut along one side of Avery and have her be a sort of border between the white space on the left and the floral print on the right. I gotta say, I'm totally diggin' this CAS design. ;)

Alrighty friends, I hope your day is a crafty one!

You are a work of art...

Good morning!

I got an order from 7 Kids on Friday and this Beautiful Girl Sydnee from Picket Fence was in there... squeeee! If you can't tell I was just a bit excited to ink her up and have a go at coloring Sydnee up. I stamped her in desert sand ink for some no-line coloring and then dove right in. As I was working on her hair I started getting a very Art Nouveau kind of vibe from Sydnee so I decided to embrace it and really give this card a dreamy, romantic look. To that end I sketched in a flowing gown for her to wear and then got to work creating a sun dappled wooded stream for her to stand beside. There was a whole lot of trial and error that went into coloring that background but I learned a lot and am pretty happy with the end result.  :)

Hugs...

TGIF!

It's my turn to post at 7 Kids and I've got not one but two cards to share. My first card showcases the darling little flora sprites from the I'm a Hugger set by Picket Fence Studios. I can't even tell you how excited I am that Kelly has added Picket Fence to the list of vendors in the store, I just adore their quirky, cute whimsical characters as well as their beautiful girls range. There is definitely something for everyone with this company. I knew for my card today that I wanted to pair these two up with some pretty papers and the Simple Stories Bloom kit was absolutely perfect! I love the soft, sweet color palette it inspired and I finished off the demure design with a crochet flower that my sister made for me. :)

My second card had me playing around with the new Kellycorn digital stamp set that is exclusive to 7 Kids. This png zip file comes with all sorts of pretty flowers and leaves as well as various eye and nostril choices that when mix and matched with the unicorn horn and ears provides endless combinations of these cool stripped down, minimalist unicorn images. All I had to do was add a sentiment and some sparkle and my card was complete!

Well, thanks for stopping by today, I hope your weekend is a crafty one!

A Latte Thanks...

Good morning!

Just a quick post this morning before heading off to work. This beauty is Jill Girl from Picket Fence Studios and I inked her up in desert sand for some no-line coloring. This Beautiful Girls range caught my eye a few months back and I finally added one to my collection with this pretty winter gal. As I was coloring Jill images of a ski vacation came to mind. I pictured her as a bundled up snow bunny out on the deck of her rental cabin enjoying a morning cup of joe. And the resulting scene was actually a pretty simple one to achieve. I had so much fun coloring her up that I'm already trying to decide with Beautiful Girl to get next, LOL!

Warmest wishes for your winter birthday...

Good morning!

I've got a fun birthday card to share today using one of the super cute little foxes from the Like a Crafty Fox set by Picket Fence Studios. Because I didn't have a whole lot of time to get crafty with this I figured it was the perfect time to play with pretty papers again, which I gotta say... it felt pretty good. So I let this cool birch wood print do most of the work for me and I simply had to color up the fox, sign and balloon die cut. It doesn't get much more quick and easy than that. ;)

Alrighty friends, I'm back to work today and it's supposed to be a nasty one weather wise. I just hope it isn't freezing rain when I'm out walking the dogs.
