Whale hello there...

TGIF!

Whew! My big drawing deadline just wrapped up so I'm back from my short break from coloring and card making. One of the first things I did once back at my crafty desk was tidy up a bit. That's when I came across this cute Me and My Whale set from Mama Elephant. The teeny tiny mermaids stole my heart and I was excited to stamp them and their whale friends into a scene. My blue Copics got a work out on this one but the near monochromatic scene was a nice way to ease back into card making. I can practically hear the whale song just looking at this sweet scene.  :)

Later gators!

Egg-stra special day...

TGIF!

I can't believe it's Friday already, I guess having back to back appointments Monday and Tuesday has really thrown off my week. But here we are and I"m still going strong on Easter cards. This time I found the cute Eggtastic stamp set in my binder of Mama Elephant stamps to ink up and get on a card. Only used one of the bunnies included but I used all of the little chicks... even adding a naughty one to the bucket of paint, LOL! I wanted the background to be full of pretty spring pastels so I added a cheery forsythia bush and some pink tulips behind this happy group of egg painters. The sentiment is also part of the Eggtastic set and I stamped it using a purple ink to tie back to their paint color and the card base that I chose. A sprinkling of pretty enamel flowers around the sentiment and this card was complete. :)

Thanks for hopping by!

You are loved...

Good morning!

Things have been pretty busy here, so when I finally found myself with some crafty time yesterday, these sweet little birds from the Mama Elephant Stay Warm set were the perfect combination of quick and cute. With their winter caps I knew that I would create a snowy scene but I also wanted this card to lean more towards a Valentine. So I went with a sunrise sky filled with pinks and yellows, bathing these two early birds in its warm rays. A few dirt patches here and there show that the snow is beginning to melt and the promise of spring can't be far behind. The sentiment is from the retired Love From Above set and it definitely helps take this sweet card in a Valentine's Day direction.

Toodles!

Merry Christmas...

TGIF!

It's been a hot minute since I've had time to ink up cute stamps from Mama Elephant but that doesn't mean I haven't been adding some of their new sets to my crafty stash. Yesterday I pulled out the adorable Ice Fishing set and masked together this fun scene. With the gift hanging on the end of the fishing line I was inspired to color these critters in Christmas reds and greens so that I could turn it into a Christmas card. I also had a little help with that with the addition of the sentiment from a retired Hello Bluebird set. It's been so fun having some time to play with my stamp stash!

Later gators!

Sending owl my love...

Hey, hey!

My last order from Mama Elephant included this cute Owl Are You stamp set and it has been sitting on my desk for weeks now just waiting to get inked up. Looking at the set I really wanted to play up the light effects with the lantern image so I stamped it several times at various heights and 'hung' them from the branches. Because of the lanterns and the fact that owls are traditionally night birds, I knew I would be doing a night scene but this was also going to be a Valentine and I wanted it to feel like one. So rather than go with the traditional blues or purples for the background I went with pinks instead. Lots of vertical brushstrokes hint at trees growing beyond this small clearing and around each light I added small hearts and sparkle using a mix of the colorless blender pen and a white gel pen. And I love when I can rely on a sentiment from the same set to tie the whole card together perfectly... it makes the card making super quick and easy.   :)

Alrighty, stay warm and stay crafty my friends!

Warmest Winter Wishes...

Hey, hey!

I got this cute Snow Much Fun stamp set from Mama Elephant back before Christmas and I still wanted to get these sheep onto a card even if the holidays are over. Let's just say that the record snowfall we got yesterday was more than enough inspiration for this snowy scene. Because I knew I was going to color these cuties as white sheep I inked them up using Memento london fog rather than a black. I like the softer look this gives them without going full no-line coloring. The birch trees are from the Let it Snow set and again, grey ink for white paper birch trees adds to the softness of the over all scene. A couple pops of pink and teal against the minty background help make the cute lambs the star of the show.  :)

Alrighty, let's hope I don't have another two feet of snow to dig myself out of this morning. Toodles!

Happy Haunting...

Hey, hey!

I got this cute Happy Haunting stamp set from Mama Elephant a few months back and I really wanted to make a card with it before Halloween this year. So after a long day yesterday I was able to sit back and relax with this sweet little trick or treat scene. I gotta say, I've kinda fallen in love with the mini slimline size cards because I can still enjoy creating a scene but the limited space definitely speeds up that process, which is great when I don't have a whole lot of time. It's a pretty simple scene with a fairly limited color palette but I still love how it came together. :)

I've got another busy day ahead of me so I should run. Thanks for stopping by!

Egg-stra special Easter...

TGIF my friends!

I'm popping in real quick with my final Easter card for 2021 and I pulled out the cute Eggtastic set from Mama Elephant for this one. There are so many sweet images in this set with bunnies and chicks painting eggs but I chose to focus instead on the egg delivery. This little guy with basket in hand, may want to check the bottom for holes because he seems to be leaving a trail of colored eggs behind him. Those little chicks don't know quite what to do about it either, LOL! I altered a couple things to make them better suit my card, the first being the sentiment which I combined words from two of the three sentiments included in the set just by some selective inking. The second is the chick out front in the line up, originally he is painting an egg but I wiped the ink away from the brush he is holding before stamping then masked in one of the smaller eggs for him to hold instead. It's definitely one of my simpler scenes but I am really pleased with the story this tells.  :)

Have a great weekend!

You are woolly awesome...

Hey there!

I'm just popping in real quick with a fun Mama Elephant card that I made yesterday. I've had the adorable Mammoth Love stamp set sitting on my desk since its release and when I recently added the Me and my Dinosaur set to my collection I couldn't wait to combine the two. With a bit of masking I quickly put together this sweet scene and had a blast coloring it all in. I contained the scene to the top half of my card, leaving room for an oversized sentiment down below. Sure, it's kind of silly but boy does it make me happy!  :)

Hi friends and welcome!

I can't tell you how excited I've been to be asked to join Mama Elephant today and help them celebrate 8 amazing years! That is a huge milestone and reading the info posted above you can see that they are going big with not only a super sized holiday release but also a store wide sale with free shipping and gifts, what's not to love about that?

I immediately fell head over heels with the stamp sets I was sent to create with, some full of that classic Mama Elephant charm as well as a new artist that I think brings a whole new level of cuteness to their already adorable offerings. That particular set is called Best Gift Ever  and it includes four cute kiddos wearing their Christmas pajamas, their faithful pup and a handful of sentiments. Right away an early Christmas morning scene popped into my head with these siblings gathered around the Christmas tree, gifts from Santa in hand.

Next we have the Sincerely Yours set full of adorable bunnies writing letters. While I stuck with the Christmas theme for this card the set actually includes a couple sentiments that make these sweet stamps versatile beyond holiday crafting. Though I'm a sucker for a good letter writing campaign trying to convince Santa you've been good all year, so for this first time inking them up it just had to be in that holiday spirit. ;)

Finally, the Let it Snow set takes us out into a cold and blustery winter day. This set includes all of my favorite things, cute snowmen, a darling penguin, pretty script sentiment and a birch tree... one can never have too many birch tree stamps in my opinion, LOL! That sweet little penguin looks like he is leaning in trying to find some warmth with his snow pal there. I don't know how well that will work out for him but at least they can enjoy each other's company.

Well, that's it from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to head on over to the amazing Miss Kathy Rac's blog for the next stop on this first day of the Stampede!

Love my boo...

 Hi there!

I've got a busy day ahead of me so not much time for chatting I'm afraid. I recently added the cute My Pet Kitties set from Mama Elephant to my stamp collection and finally had some time to create with it yesterday. Because I've been having so much fun with Halloween cards at the moment I thought it would be a cool twist to turn one of the kitties into a Halloween black cat. So I went to my binder of Halloween stamps and found the Little Boo Agenda set to help give this card that spooky, cute vibe. Initially I was going to go full out scene with a bunch of different stamps but I just fell in love with how these two interact together so I shifted gears and made them the star of the show. I even ditched the scene idea and grabbed a stencil and some ink instead to create a magical glow behind them full of stars. A sprinkling of sequins and this CAS card was done!  :)

Alrighty, gotta run... have a good one!

An amazing day...

Hey there!

I'm just sneaking in real quick with one last card for the Mama Elephant Top Card Contest before the deadline tomorrow. This card primarily centers around the super cute dolphins in the Marine Friends set but I also added element in from the Mermaid Kisses and Little Mermaid Agenda sets as well. I wanted to create a scene where a child is silhouetted against those cool underwater aquarium window looking out at all the magic and wonder that the oceans are teaming with. And guess who got her sea legs for this... one of the Mermaid Kisses mermaids, LOL! I only inked her from the waist up then when I was coloring her in as a silhouette I simply gave her some legs. Her seashell top became a hand on the glass window and I stamped the smaller sea turtle into her other hand so it looks like she is carrying her favorite plushy around with her. The sentiment was borrowed from the Picnic with Friends set and I think it does a great job bringing everything together. :)

Alrighty, now back to our regularly scheduled posting, LOL!

Hooray...

Hi there!

I'm just sneaking this card in real quick because I wanted to get it entered into the Mama Elephant Top Card Contest before it ends on the 10th. It's a pretty clean and simple design but I thought the mash-up of the Little Fairy Agenda cuties with the Celebration Balloons was a fun one. All I had to do was draw in the strings and it looks like they are flying those balloons to a fairy special party. ;)

Lots of sunshine...

Hello, hello!

Have you seen the newest Mama Elephant stamps to arrive at 7 Kids? They are SO cute! I just got my hands on a couple of the new summer sets and I couldn't wait to get these cute Beach Chickies on a card. Because they are on the smaller side I wanted to change things up a bit and instead of coloring in an entire card front I cut a skinny strip and contained my beachy scene within it so it reads as more of a snapshot. This left me some room to play with a stenciled background as well. Rather than color them up as traditional chicks I thought it made more sense to have a bunch of seagulls playing at the beach so out came my grey markers. From the looks of these pudgy little seagulls they certainly don't miss many opportunities to steal a french fry or two, LOL! All in all this turned into quite the happy little card. ;)

The brightest stars...

Hey there!

So I did something a bit different with my card for 7 Kids today. As I was stamping up these tiny fairies from the Mama Elephant Little Fairy Agenda set I had the idea of making them glow like fireflies. To do this effectively I knew that I would have to color them into a relatively dark background but I didn't want to have them floating in a solid dark void. So I compromised a bit and imaged a dusky evening just after the last strong rays of sun have set over the horizon. There is still that slight glow but everything around you is hazy and indistinct. Once again I pulled out the much used flowers from the TGF With Love set and stamped a few right up front in the very close foreground of the scene. Then I took advantage of all the different poses these little fairies come in and started stamping them on like they are flying in to land on the flowers. The coloring was actually pretty quick and easy as I worked with a very limited palette of yellow and purple, the only tricky part was making sure I left space on the flowers to reflect the fairies magic glow. I'm thinking that I probably could have gone a bit bolder with the darker colors in the sky but all in all I'm super happy with the story this card tells. :)

Together is my favorite place to be...

Howdy folks!

This past week Simon Says finally shared their Greeting Farm #CoupleGoals feature on their blog so I can now share the card I made for that post. These two lovebirds were actually the first from the set to catch my eye and spark an idea upon getting the stamp set. Probably because I have been waiting 9 years, ever since the Design a Sprout contest, for a TGF stamp showing a couple hand in hand like this. Immediately I envisioned these two  laughing and running down a park path on their way to some wonderful adventure together. So I stamped them up and used my Copic markers to color the scene in around them. Once that was done, I trimmed the image down a bit to fit on the front of an A2 sized card and found a scrap of pretty yellow paper that coordinated nicely and helps to anchor the image.  Because there is a lot going on up above I wanted to keep the lower half of the card clean and simple with only the addition of a subtle sentiment and a sprinkling of little yellow flowers. The resulting card tells the story I wanted it to while still looking fresh and fun! :)
