Happy New Year...

Hello friends!

I'm jumping into a brand new year of Scenic Saturday posts over on the Bellariffic blog. It's a fresh start and a time for new beginnings, commonly represented by a fresh faced baby with all of its potential. This idea had me reaching for the Baby Boy and Girl stamp set with a plan for some fun and easy altering.  

I began by inking up the girl baby because she was facing the direction I wanted. Before stamping baby onto the center of the card front I carefully wiped the ink away from the bow on her head as well the upper chest and the waist of the diaper using a baby wipe. Once stamped, I was left with open space that I could then use a fine tipped black multi-liner pen to draw in the simple lines for the sash and a new curl on the baby's head that was more gender neutral. With very little effort I now had the Baby New Year that I was after. Next, I colored in the black line across the center of the card, providing grounding for the baby to rest on as well as creating a space below for the large sentiment. For the background behind Baby New Year I masked off baby and the bottom of the card before adding a sun ray stencil up top and using the Copic air brush system to create the glow. With the coloring complete I mounted the panel first on some shimmery gold card stock, then to the black card base. Using dies I cut out the large sentiment in the same gold and black card stocks and glued them all in place, balancing the baby directly above. A sprinkling of black and white enamel shapes add to the celebratory look that I was going for with this card. I hope that this easy transformation inspires you to look at the stamps in your stash with fresh eyes in this fresh new year.  :)
