Frightful and delightful...

Hello there! It's October 1st and that means a brand new Farm Fresh Challenge is underway at The Greeting Farm! As you know a new challenge is issued at the beginning of every month over on the TGF blog and I'm sure it is no surprise that the theme for October is all about having some "Spooky Fun". There are so many cute Halloween stamps and digis to be found in the TGF store or why not ink up a non-themed image and make it work by just using some creative coloring and paper choices? Either way, playing along enters you in for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!

For my card I was inspired by all of the gorgeous Day of the Dead sugar skull make up that can be found on Pinterest and the gorgeous new Cheeky Deco digi had just the look I needed to pull it off. Because the ladies always seemed to have an abundance of flowers adorning their skully look I chose this pretty Halloween floral print paper from Pebbles and let its color palette guide me. Next I stamped up some spooky tombstones for Deco to rest against... I just hope she doesn't get too comfortable, if you know what I mean... LOL!  ;)

Alrighty friends, have fun with this one. I can't wait to see what you create!

Nine lives...

TGIF my friends!

It is a VERY good day in the Young household because I was one of the ten lucky ladies announced as a MFT 2016 Card Design Superstar... woot, woot! I am just over the moon excited and I literally can't stop smiling. :)
It was my Happy Girls card that got me the win and I thought today would be a fun opportunity to share a card that I made as a possible entry into the contest and instead inspired my second attempt that actually won. You can see the narrow strip idea is in place with all the kitties from the Cool Cat set peeking in. I used the cool Party Patterns set to add color to the kraft background and frame the image panel in a funky way. While I think it turned out to be a very fun and happy card it also felt a bit busy. So I took the idea and edited it down, shifting the elements and streamlined the overall design. It doesn't mean I don't like this card, because I do, but I'm also grateful for what I learned from it.

I also added a little something to the inside of the card, which I don't often do. But once I settled on the 'nine lives' sentiment I just couldn't leave the card with only seven kitties on it. Call it card making OCD I guess, LOL! ;)

Alrighty, have a wonderful weekend everybody!

Sprinkled with love...

Hey there!

A few weeks ago, my good friend Tracey and I made it our goal to color up each of the cupcakes from the Papertrey Ink Baker's Dozen stamp set. The set contains a sweet little themed cupcake for each month of the year and we just had a blast working our way through each one. Now I've got a pretty little stack of cupcakes waiting to get on a card or two and my new goal is to post one a month over the next year. Tracey and I started with September's cupcake so I figured I should hurry and get this one put together and up before it was too late. We did a bit of masking to get three cupcakes together because having the red, green and golden apples all next to each other looks pretty darn cute. :)

Okay then, time for me to get my day going.

Hello...

Olo!

This new Delight Anya is the Super Secret Stamp Club September stamp and I fell in love with her immediately. So much so that I decided she would be perfect as my new Facebook avatar for the fall season. I actually got her all colored up last week but I finally had a bit of time to get her on a card yesterday. The papers are classic October Afternoon and they are still a favorite after all these years. Anya looks quite lovely in the two different shades of orange that I pulled from the paper and she is ready to take a stroll on this beautiful autumn day. Well, that's all I've got for today.

Later gators!  :)

Happy Halloween...

Hello, hello!

I've got a quick Halloween card to share today featuring the Scaredy Cats set from The Greeting Farm. This time around I colored up the mustachioed little gent who is looking all highfalutin in his top hat and bow tie. Something about this fancy feline had me picturing him as a Siamese cat so I just went with that idea. Now he's just hangin' out on the porch on Halloween night chatting up that pair of jack o'lanterns. What a character! It looks like Scaredy Cats is currently sold out but I bet they will be back on the store shelves before you know it.  :)

Alrighty, gotta run!

Happy harvest...

Good morning!

How adorable is this little apple pickin' sweetie? Seriously, as soon as I saw Apple over at Mo's Digital Pencil on Friday I knew that I had to snap her up. Growing up and living in apple country I can so relate to everything about this image. In fact, she totally reminds me of my little sister when she was just a tot... hanging out with the big kids while we all 'helped' to pick the fruit. Harvest is currently wrapping up at the moment so this seemed to be the perfect time to get her on a card. I decided to give her some yummy Honey Crisps to munch on since they are my personal faves and had a lot of fun coloring them all up. I'm also going ahead and entering this card into the current "anything goes" challenge at Mo's Digital Challenge.

Okey doke, thanks for dropping by... see ya'll again tomorrow!  :)

A friend like you...

TGIF!

I had some time in my crafty room yesterday and I decided to look in my Sugar Nellie binder for some fall card inspiration. That's where I found Hazel and Nutty and I'm ashamed to admit that I think this is my first time coloring them up! It was worth the wait though because I had a blast with this pretty little fairy and her squirrelly friend. The papers are a random mix that I put together as I flipped through a stack of scraps and I just fell in love with this combo for a fall card even though there is none of the traditional oranges or reds that you usually find. Then I grabbed the Fancy Foliage die to accent the card design because I liked how it mimicked the white silhouettes in the paper. All in all it came together to be a pretty little card that I'm quite pleased with.

Take care and have a fabulous weekend everybody!  :)

Make a wish...

Hello, hello!

I've got one more card that I've made using the Simon Says Stamp Mini Pony Party exclusive set. For this one I paired up the remaining two magical pony pals with the cupcakes and stand to create a whole birthday party theme. I kept the rest of the card simple by just framing them in with a sweet stitched scallop die and sprinkled on a few buttons and sequins for good measure.

Ok, time for me to scoot as I've got a busy day ahead.

Sending you sparkles...

Mornin' folks!

I've got another card to share using the sold out Simon Says Stamp Mini Pony Party set. This time around I had a blast doing a bunch of masking to get the cake and flowers in the cart and the cart hooked up to the sweet little pony. Now it looks like she is bringing the party with her wherever she goes. The bright, happy papers are from the Sunshine and Happiness paper pad and I tried to match the colors of the flowers in the cart to the flowers in the paper. Now if you missed out on grabbing this set while it was available don't be too heartbroken because a little birdie told me that new mini ponies may just be joining the TGF family next month! Woot, woot!  :)

Have a good one everybody!

Hello fall...

Olo!

I totally fell in love with the new Roberto's Rascals 4 Seasons Kids that were released this month and when they were part of a 24 hour flash sale I couldn't resist nabbing both sets. This sweet sweater wearing gal was a natural choice to ink up first considering I just pulled out all of my own cold weather clothes. I paired her up with the Fall Friends collection by Doodlebug and matched all of my Copic colors for her outfit to the papers. Now I'm wishing I could get my hands on this sweater myself because I would wear the heck out of a fall rainbow inspired top like this, LOL! I borrowed the Copic colors used on her hair from the Marker Geek Monday post for coloring pumpkins and I think it worked quite nicely. In the end it's a fun and happy card and I can't wait to get her male counterpart on a card as well.

Later gators!  :)

Happy girls...

Good morning!

Well here I am with my third and final entry for the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar contest. This time around I wanted to use a cute human character stamp but I couldn't decide on which one to color up. Then I got the idea to use a bunch of them all together, so I cut a narrow strip of cardstock and stamped and masked the girls from four different Birdie Brown sets with just their head and shoulders showing. The sentiment is from an old retired MFT set called Clearly Sentimental About Audrey Hepburn and I have always loved this one in particular because it is so true. The funky stitched strip die added just enough interest to my white card base and I used a few splatters from the Distressed Patterns set to act as abstract leaves for the paper flower embellishments. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this happy group of friends?  ;)

Alrighty, it's all out of my hands now... fingers crossed!

Mane squeeze...

Hi-ya friends!

Some of us TGF Farmers are doing an impromptu post featuring the Simon Says Stamp Mini Pony Party Stamptember exclusive set today. When this was first planned the set was still available but sadly it is now completely sold out. There is a 'notify me' button on the page so maybe a few more will be added before Stamptember is over... fingers crossed! There are so many fun stamps included in this set besides the super adorable mini ponies and I paired up the heart with one of the great sentiments for my card. This little pegasus has such a glorious mane of hair that I figured she was the perfect choice to go with and since she can fly, the clouds seemed the ideal place for her to call home. There is certainly magic in the air here. :)

Now be sure to check out the cards my fellow Farmers have made over on the TGF blog.

Flippin' awesome...

Hello there!

I've decided to do a special weekend posting since I didn't want to miss getting the rest of my cards entered into the MFT Card Design Superstar contest before the deadline this coming week. So very quickly, in keeping within the theme of past and current pets, I couldn't resist this adorable pooch trying to mooch himself some breakfast. I have a spoiled ten year old Yorkie and even though he has slowed down a bit over the years he is still quick to nab any morsel that happens to fall to the floor while we cook. One of my favorite ecards that I've come across on Pinterest is, "There is no such thing as a five second rule when you have a two second dog." and he is definitely my two second dog so Pup Pup became my inspiration to mix the pots and pans from the Recipe for Happiness set with this canine connoisseur from the Lucky Dog set. I even borrowed the shelf from the I Knead You set so the salt and pepper shakers had a home. All in all it's another simple card that makes me smile but I figure if it makes me smile hopefully it will make a few others smile as well. :)

Even when I'm prickly...

TGIF my crafty friends!

I've decided to throw my hat into the ring for the My Favorite Things 2016 Card Design Superstar contest and I am super nervous! There are already so many great cards entered and the competition is definitely stiff. But the prize is pretty darn amazing and there is zero chance at winning if I chicken out and not try at all. So for this first card I've mixed the Sweet Succulents set with the new Happy Hedgehogs set. I couldn't resist pairing up the prickly cacti with this prickly little cutie. Years ago I had three African Pygmy hedgehogs as pets and they were just the sweetest and funniest little critters. Their coloring is very different from the traditional hedgehogs that most of us think of, what with their white bodies and salt and pepper quills, so that is the look that I was trying to mimic with my Copics. The background is simple watercolor 'smooshing' and I framed them all in with the cool new Single Stitch Line die-namics. Sure it's another CAS card but it makes me smile none the less. :)

Alrighty then, wish me luck!

I couldn't resist coloring Holiday Anya 5 one more time and trying out some pretty pastels on her. I think it's official... this girl looks great in any color, LOL! She's really rockin' that retro 1950's artificial pink Christmas look and all that inspiration came from these pretty Sugar Plum papers by My Mind's Eye. I love the old school vibe they lend to the over all design.

Alrighty friends, I won't keep ya any longer. Have fun hopping and good luck! :)

Hi-ya friends!

Well, we've made it to the third and final day of the Greeting Farm September release previews and tomorrow all three clear sets will be available for purchase in the TGF store. Adding a new Holiday Anya to the line up has kinda become a Christmas tradition on the Farm and each one is cuter than the last... if that's even possible. ;)
This year Holiday Anya 5 is making her appearance with her short curls and oversized scarf plus a bonus candy cane that you can add to her hand if you want to make things especially sweet. I just think this winter cutie is completely adorable and perfect for so many amazing Christmas cards this season. Grateful for you...

Hi there!

Welcome back to day two of the Greeting Farm September release. Today we've got a cute little clear set of critters called Hello Fall. It comes with two sentiments, a leaf, this yummy pie and and the hungry fox and bunny just waiting to chow down on some holiday eats. For my card I did a bit of masking so that both the fox and bunny were crowded around that sweet apple pie. I paired them up with this cute paper from the Woodland Forest paper pad so that it looks like every little creature of the forest is coming to join them for this special fall feast. My fellow Farmer's have created some fantastic fall cards with this set too so be sure to check out their makes over on the TGF blog.  :)

Keep it cozy...

Hello, hello!

It's time to start previews for the September stamp release at The Greeting Farm and today is all about the handsome Holiday Ian. Ian is a clear stamp set that also comes with this great sentiment and a snowflake accessory stamp. He's so dapper looking in his fashionable peacoat and scarf, I couldn't resist going with some masculine plaid paper to suit his look. Cutting the snowflake border die out of gold paper just adds to the classy traditional Christmas look that I was going for. Now you'll want to hop on over to the TGF blog to see the fab cards my fellow Farmers have made with this happy holiday dude.  :)

A wicked Halloween...

TGIF!

After yesterday I figured why not end this week with another Halloween card. This time no altering involved just giving this little vamp ghostie from the Peek a Boo set some place spooky to haunt. To do that I grabbed the cool Hallows Eve die set from Papertrey Ink 'cause I really like how the entire scene is contained in a circle. I added a few vampire bats to keep Drac company and I did change up the sentiment just a bit by placing 'wicked' over 'magical' because I felt it fit better. Another super CAS but still kinda playful card... totally makes me smile.  :)

Ok, time for me to hit the road. Have a funtabulous weekend everybody!

Trick or treat...

Hey there friends!

It's my turn to post on the TGF blog and I've got a fun Halloween card to share. It's no secret that I'm fond of altering and mixing things up on my stamps to make them work for many different types of cards. So when I saw this great Halloween under the sea post by Maria I was totally inspired to borrow elements from the new Peek a Boo set and change up my own Halloween characters. I wanted an entire mob of little trick or treaters for my card and to create that I first printed out the Hallo Hero, Hallo Heroine and Hallo Bean digital stamps to the same small scale as the Mega Mini Amazing girls. Hero and Heroine I used as is but I borrowed Hallo Bean's witch hat and kitty so that I could instead dress up the pig-tailed cutie from the Mega Mini Amazing set. The mummy is an old favorite from the retired Spooktacular set and he fit right in with the rest of the kiddos... gotta love that small size. Then I just stamped up the pirate ghost and witch ghost from the Peek a Boo set and continued to dress up my girls. The short haired Mega Mini got the pirate hat, eye patch and hook while I snagged the broom to add to the witch and complete her costume. All together they look ready to travel up and down the streets of their neighborhood trick or treating until every last candy bag is full. This is why I love altering stamps so much, LOL!   :)

Stay crafty my friends!
