We can do it...

Hello friends!

I'm back on the TGF blog with a collection of cards that reflect the current circumstances that we all find ourselves in these days. I know that I find most of my 'shelter in place' days spent following the news wavering between worry and thankfulness for the amazing medical professionals that we have on the front lines.
So when Marie released this sweet Social Distance Anya digital stamp I knew that I wanted to make cards for some of those brave and special people that I know. And now Marie has also added the Quarantine Life duo to the shop as well so I had more cuties to create some positive, upbeat cards with. I also pulled out the older Get Well Soon set full of mini doctors and nurses, which I just noticed is currently sold out but don't forget about the doctor and nurse digis that are always available.
Because I was working with so many digis I really wanted to take advantage of the way you can manipulate their sizing for your cards. On one card I enlarged Social Distance Anya to fill up the entire card front and then I shrunk her down to a small 2" size to match the Get Well Soon doctors and even printed her a couple extra time so I could fussy cut her mask and add it to the doctors on another card. All of the designs were kept clean and simple, probably because of all the obsessive cleaning I've been doing lately, LOL!

So stay safe, stay healthy and stay crafty everyone!

Good wishes...

Hey there!

I've had fairies on the brain here the last couple days so when I scrolled past these cuties on my computer, while searching for a different digi, I was inspired to grab them and print them out as well. They are the four Vintage Fairy Ring fairies from A Day For Daisies which is currently closed but I think I read that they might be coming back sometime soon. I kept my coloring rather simple since the fairies themselves are on the simple side. Where I did cut loose a bit and have some fun was with trying four different skin tone combinations. I can definitely see myself using a couple of these combos again soon.

Alrighty, I've actually got a lot of things to cross off my to-do list today so wish me luck. :)
Talk at'cha later!

Happy Birthday...

Good morning!

Only one day left in March and I have to say that I'm ready for it to be over. This has already felt like the longest month EVER. I've been so preoccupied with following all of the virus news each day that I almost forgot that I needed to make a birthday card this week. Luckily I knew just the image I wanted to use for it, this fun Hello My Friend stamp from Dreamerland Crafts. I love the obvious happiness and joy embodied in these two cuties especially when they can send the birthday hug that I can't give myself right now. Rather than color in a background I pulled out a couple of stamp sets from Papertrey Ink and a bunch of colored inks to add some festive decor to the the top of the card. The die cut sentiment from Hello Bluebird shows up better in person than in this pic where it kinda got washed out but I'm super happy with how this one turned out and I can't wait to send it off!

Smile...

Hello, hello!

I know I don't usually post on Sundays but when new digis hit the Moonlight Whispers Etsy shop this weekend I couldn't resist coloring one right away. Two of the digital stamps were previously released as coloring pages at 7 Kids, Fight Gloom with Glamour and Keeping in Shape and the third digi is brand new and she is called, Clover Lass. Even though her name implies that she is specifically for celebrating St. Paddy's Day she can just as easily be colored into a pretty spring lass by turning the clover into little wild flowers instead. And that is just what I did during my impromptu Live yesterday. Even though it wasn't planned or scheduled I had a great group of gals there and we had a blast turning Clover into a sweet new age hippie Instagram model complete with a picture perfect waterfall background, LOL!

Later gators!

Magical birthday wishes...

TGIF my friends!

Yesterday I did a Live coloring video on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page featuring a mix of old and new stamps from Whimsy. The cute dragon and princess are part of the older retired line by Marina Fedotova and the stamp is called, Norbert and Fiona Story Time. The wood arbor is from the new Elegant Wood Frames clear set, though I did alter it slightly by not inking up the branch that ran across the bottom. The idea was to mask the frame and stamp them so that I could color in a stone wall and make it appear like they are chatting on the other side of it, which I gotta say, I think it really worked out quite well. I love the colors everyone suggested for Fiona and Norbert, it felt good to go outside my usual green combos and play with a whole different mix on that sweet dragon. I did add some sparkle and shine after the card was put together as well, the glossy accents on his scales looks so cool in person. ;)

I'm already looking forward to next week's Live and there is a poll up on my FB page where you can vote between two brands and choose which one will be featured.
Have a good weekend!

Happy Trails...

Hello friends!

I'm back with my second guest post for Whimsy Stamps and today I've inked up another new Polka Dot Pal. This cute little guy is Raden and he is quite the adventurous boy, don't you think? I really wanted to play up his intrepid spirit and give him a proper trail to hike. The fallen log and fox that I have him standing on come in the same set with Raden while I borrowed the tree stump and frog from the Harley set. Because I have so much going on in this scene I upped my "canvas" size to a larger slimline card rather than my usual standard A2 that I normally create. Then I proceeded to color in a sunlit forest path for Raden to explore and it sure looks like he is having a blast.
I have had a blast this month too, thanks so much to Whimsy Stamps for having me, it's been a real treat! I'm actually going to be coloring more Whimsy stamps today, 3/26, Live at 3pm PST on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page so I hope you can join me then!

Rain or shine...

Hey there!

I started this card last Thursday as a sort of warm up practice before coloring Live. Since I had the rainy background done I figured why not finish it all up and get it on a card to share  this week. The adorable little piggy is from the SY Piggy Pebbles set and I borrowed the sentiment from the BB Rain or Shine set, both from My Favorite Things. I've actually had this little piggy set for ages so it felt really good finally getting one of them inked up and he was so much fun to color. I'll admit it, I'm totally in love with how he turned out and now I kinda want to color more pigs, LOL!

And speaking of Live coloring videos, I will be back again tomorrow on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy page. After all the voting closed it looks like I will be using some lovely stamps from Whimsy so I hope to see you there at 3pm PST.  ;)

If friends were flowers...

Hello, hello!

So how's everyone doing? Staying safe and virus free I hope. I'm still feeling good... knock on wood. Our governor has issued a shelter in place decree so all non-essential businesses are to be closed for the next two weeks. Sooooo... that means even more coloring time for me I guess. I did get a bunch of coloring done yesterday, mostly finishing up various cards and scenes that have been partially done for one reason or another. This Stamping Bella scene was started a couple of weeks ago during my Live, showing how I add floral prints to clothes. I paired the cute little Gardenia Bundle Girl with Wood Anemone Bundle Girl to create a sweet friendship card. Luckily for them, their magical garden isn't under quarantine, LOL! ;)

See ya in 24!

Stuck together...

Good morning!

How's everyone hanging in there? I'm coming up on my first full week with no work and social distancing and it still feels weird. I've cleaned, I've organized, I've colored and I've crafted. I've watched movies and shows that have been on my DVR for ages and I've even done some writing and drawing. All that 'freedom' to do whatever I want here at home and I'm still wishing everything would get back to normal. Still, I'm trying to stay optimistic so when I watched Melissa create her super cute card on Saturday during her Live on her Made For Creativity page she inspired me to use that same MFT sentiment and create my own positive social distancing card. I paired mine with this sweet I Will Forever couple of cuties from Dreamerland Crafts because they look quite content snuggled up together. Then I added in a bright and clean reading room around them... seriously, who doesn't love a shiplap accent wall? LOL

Alrighty, guess I will go see what else I can cross off my to-do list. Laters!

Get well wishes...

Hello, hello!

I've got a very timely Scenic Saturday card to share over on the Bellarific Blog today. I really can't think of anyone who hasn't been effected by the spread of the Corona virus in one way or another. And while I hope and pray that all of you stay safe and healthy I have to admit that this whole thing has gotten me creating more 'get well' cards in my down time. So when it came time to ink up a stamp for today I grabbed Under the Weather Mochi Girl right away. Unfortunately for her it looks like she is going to have to ride out the virus but I am confident she will get better in no time. :)
I know when I am ill the only place I want to be is curled up in my bed so I chose to color in a bed around our poor Under the Weather Mochi Girl. Sure she is facing the foot of the bed with her comforter piled high around her... I like to think she was looking for her phone and just got too tired to turn back around. Another all too common detail I added are the used tissues around her, you have to think ahead a bit to create them because it requires leaving random white spaces as you color in the mattress she is resting on. Then once the mattress is done just take a couple light grey markers to add some crumpled triangle like shadow shapes to create dimension. The sentiment that I 'hung' on the wall is part of the Mochi Girls Sentiments set. Framing it is an easy way to incorporate the message right into the scene you are creating plus help draw the viewers eye to it as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, not only do I wish you a crafty weekend but a safe and healthy one too!

Weather the storm...

TGIF my friends!

Yesterday I broke up the monotony of this past week of social distancing by popping into my Adventures in Coloring with Amy FB page and coloring this rainy day scene with a bunch of my awesome fellow crafters. I've been feeling kinda lonely and isolated so chatting with everyone was just what I needed to buoy my spirits. Previously I had gotten a request to show how I did reflections, like on ice or in puddles as well as how I approach creating a rainy scene. This had me reaching for the cute Rainy Day stamp set from Hello Bluebird as well as the Fishin' Hole set (for the cat) and the Puddle Play set for the little splashes of water that I added to the top of her umbrella. As you can see, we got quite cheery and colorful with these two which makes for a great contrast to the heavy rain that is pouring down around them. I also thought the sentiment was quite apropos for this moment in time we are all living through. If you missed the Live yesterday it can still be seen here... though I warn ya, it's a long one, LOL!

Happy Camper...

Hello crafty friends!

I'm super excited to be joining Whimsy Stamps as a guest designer this month! I've been a long time fan of so many of their various stamp collections and I'm happy to be joining the fun with them once again. This month Whimsy released two new Polka Dot Pals and I chose to ink up Harley for my card today. One of the great things about the Polka Dot Pals is that they are sort of blank canvas when it comes to their faces and you are encouraged to either use the additional facial feature stamps that come with some of them or add in your own features as you color to make them your own. I took that idea a step further and did a bit of gender bending as I turned mine into a female Harley complete with a flirty pixie cut... because girls like getting out in nature too. Which leads me to other great thing about these stamps, each set comes with a lot of great background builder images that are awesome for creating scenes on their own but really take off once you have a few sets to mix and match together. That cool tree stump, babbling brook and little frog all come with Harley and help tell her story for me. The rest of the background I sketched in myself as she enjoys a quiet moment in her sunny meadow.

Well that's it from me today, I will be back next Thursday with more Polka Dot Pal fun to share!

Get well soon...

Hey there!

I'll admit, this Corona virus has me nervous. Not just about catching it myself or my loved ones catching it but how it is shutting down so much of our economy right now. My real life every day work relies on people traveling and needing a safe and comfortable place for their dogs to stay while they are away so with everyone staying home we are already feeling the effects of this with cancellation after cancellation. Still I may not have control over much right now but I do have control over how I react to all this. So I choose to stay calm and do my part to stay put as much as possible and you have to admit that stamping and coloring are a pretty great way to pass the time, LOL! I've also noticed that with everything going on I've been reaching for 'get well' stamps and sentiments more than usual, like with my card today. I really wanted to use that Get Well Soon die in a creative way and I needed a small image to pair with it so I flipped through my binder of  Purple Onion stamps until I came across sweet Carmel bunny. She isn't necessarily a get well image but that loving hug of her teddy made it work in my opinion. Rather than my usual entire card front type scene I wanted to contain just a small snippet of one inside that small circle frame. So I looked through my binder again and came across Sugar Plum sleeping in a fantastic arm chair. Now I didn't need Sugar Plum for what I was doing so I used a baby wipe to remove the ink from the sleeping bunny before stamping the image which left me with just the arm chair to color up... voila... instant scene builder! Once it was colored I did a bit of paper piecing using the same washi tape that I had on the base of the card as an accent to create a comfy cozy throw for Carmel to get cozy in. This card doesn't have nearly the amount of coloring that I usually do but I still think it tells a really cute story.  :)

And if you are looking for a bit of a retail pick-me-up during this craziness Purple Onion is currently running a great clearance sale so be sure to check that out!

Grow your own way...

Hello friends!

I realized that I still have a few cards from the last Stamping Bella release that haven't been shared here yet so today was a good day to do something about that. This darling little gal is Bundle Girl Flower March and I colored her up to be covered in morning glories and sweet peas since they always make me think of spring. I'm not sure where she is heading but she is certainly a girl on the go, thus the punny sentiment I paired with her from the Spring Sentiment set.

And if you haven't seen it yet, Stamping Bella is hosting a rare sale to try and help buoy spirits during these days of self quarantine and social distancing. No code necessary as all discounts have already been applied. I know I will be holed up in my crafty room for the next few days with nothing but good music playing and beautiful stamps to color to help relieve some of the stress. :)

Be good to each other! Hugs!

Hello beautiful...

Good morning!

I love the Cathy Delanssay stamps that Whimsy released years ago, sadly I missed out on them at the time and they are retired now. Though recently I've been lucky to get a few on the second hand market and this lovely Fairy on the Tree is one of them. I just think she is absolutely beautiful and I couldn't wait to finally sit down and color her up. You'll notice I seem to be on a bit of a kick playing with sunlight two days in a row now, LOL! I just liked the idea of her sitting up on that branch watching the world come to life in that glowing dawn hour.
I'm excited to announce that later this week I will have my first post as a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps this month and I can't wait to share what I've been working on with some of their newest stamps!

Until tomorrow... stay safe, stay sane and most importantly, stay crafty my friends!

Congrats...

TGIF!

Are you ready for the fourth and final day of the Greeting Farm's March release previews? We are wrapping things up with a new extra large handwritten script Congrats die. Marie creates these beautiful script dies from her own handwriting and they work great both as the focal point of a card or along with many of the smaller character stamps in the TGF line up. I decided to use it as a graduation card today so I inked up one of the cuties from the Graduation set released last year and paired both with some great Doodlebug papers. The Congrats die will be available for purchase Sunday, the 15th along with all of the new stamp sets.

Now you'll want to hop on over to the TGF blog to see the celebratory cards that my fellow Farmers have created using the Congrats die. I will be back Sunday for the official blog hop and a chance for some lucky individual to win the entire March release!  :)

Thank you so much...

Hey there!

Are you ready for the third day of the Greeting Farm's March release previews? We are showcasing a new clear set of Miss Anyas with Miss Anya Bless. This set includes two beautiful spring inspired Miss Anyas and four scripty sentiments. Miss Anya Bless will be available for purchase on Sunday, the 15th along with the other new stamps and die. For my card today I chose the pretty gal holding a big bouquet of flowers to color up. Whether she is on the giving or receiving end of that fragrant gift this Anya has a lot to be thankful for. As you can see I had some fun creating a very narrow strip of background behind her, letting her pop out into the white space a bit. This is a great technique if you are just starting to dabble into scene coloring because it is a lot less intimidating filling that small space rather than the entire card front.

Ok, be sure to head on over to the TGF blog to see the lovely cards that my fellow Farmers have created using the Miss Anya Bless set. I will be back tomorrow for the final day of previews, hope to see ya then!  :)

Merci...

Hello, hello!

We are back for day 2 of the Greeting Farm's March release! Next up we are introducing the lovely new Bouquet set which will be available for purchase on the 15th along with the other new stamp sets. For my card today I stepped out of my comfort zone and made a shaker card. I used all of the bouquet elements that come in the set and stamped them together in Fade Out ink to decorate the bottom of my shaker window. I also couldn't resist adding a little gal from the Tiny Plans 2 set that I colored into a fairy since I'm just not a straight florals kind of gal. I used the 'merci' sentiment that is included in the set to create a repeat pattern in the back of my shaker window then I loaded it up with pretty sequins... maybe a few too many sequins, LOL!

Now you'll want to head on over to the TGF blog where you will find more Bouquet beauties from my fellow Farmers. And I will see you tomorrow for the third day of sneak peeks!  :)
