Bestie time...

Hi there!

We sent out the January newsletter from Sweet November Stamps last night, it's a quick review of all the product added to the store this month. We have big plans for Sweet November in 2021, some of which will be happening here in February so keep an eye on this blog and the Friends of Sweet November Facebook page for updates. Now, as always an exclusive new digi also released with the newsletter and we couldn't resist creating a fun digital image celebrating not Valentine's Day but Galentine's Day. These two Besties, along with their coordinating sentiment, are the perfect way to celebrate one of life's most important relationships... that of our best friends. If you are not a subscriber yet and you're bummed about missing out on this month's freebie no worries, simply go to the bottom of the Sweet November Stamps home page and sign up now. :)

I just woof you...

Hello friends!

It's time for another Scenic Saturday over on the Bellarific blog. As we near February I can't help but start to feel the love, especially when it comes to my card making. Roses are such a classic motif of Valentine's Day and there is a gorgeous oversized rose stamp that is included in the Edgar and Molly Vintage Flower set which I hadn't inked up yet. Rather than have it be the focal point of my card I went a different route and stamped it repeatedly in a light grey/brown ink that matched the card stock I planned to use. I then used a couple of light pink Copic markers to color only the space between the roses which created a lovely floral print pattern for my background. At first I planned on pairing this background with an elegant Uptown Girl but when my eyes fell on this sweet little Boston pup dressed in her tutu from the Bostons, Pug and Chihuahua set it made me smile to think of her on such a fancy looking print. So I embraced the shift to a sweet pup theme and even found the perfect sentiment in the Dog Sentiment set, which I augmented slightly by replacing one of the stamped words with a die cut version so it would have a bit more impact on the bottom of the card. I like to think of this as a non-traditional card posing as a traditional Valentine. At first glance pairing that rose with one of the dog stamps may seem a bit odd but with just a little twist I think it is quite sweet. So always keep an open mind when it comes to pairing up stamps in your own stamp stash.   :)

Stay crafty bellas!

The Joy is in the Journey...

Hello, hello!

I'm up on The Greeting Farm blog with my first DT post of the new year... gosh it feels like it's been awhile! I've been saving this cutie from the Miss Anya Fanny Pack stamp set, that was released this month, for just this occasion.I knew I wanted to tell a special story with this happy girl and when I scrolled past the Joy is in the Journey digital sentiment I had a light bulb moment. This Miss Anya certainly looks pretty joyful and she's gotta be heading somewhere with that cute fanny pack so I stamped and masked her on a piece of Copic X-Press It cardstock that had been cut down to 4.25"x5.5". Next I got on my computer and proceeded to put a scene together using the car from the SUV Trunk digi set and the pups from the Park Lunch and Bay Window sets respectively. The sentiment that inspired everything got shrunk way down so it would fit nicely on the back of the car seat.I then printed the car and pups out on a regular sheet of cheap computer paper. Once I had that, I lined up the piece of card stock with Miss Anya on it so that she was positioned in front of the car just where I wanted her before taping the card stock to the full sheet and running it through my printer a second time. Now all I had to do was gently peel away the tape and the mask I had over Anya and I was ready to color. It looks like Miss Anya is parked in the drive as she loads up her little co-pilots for a trip. Where will they go? The dog park? To Starbucks for a pup cup? Wherever they end up you know they will have fun getting there. :)

Toodles!

Hi friends!

I couldn't stay away from the cute digital images from Rachelle Anne Miller and this time around it was this sweet pair of owls that caught my eye. The stamp is called, Owl Be Your Friend and they are just way too cute all snuggled together on that tree branch. It seemed natural to make them into a Valentine's Day card so I paired them with an oversized die cut sentiment that I camouflaged into the background by using the silhouette technique of die cutting the sentiment repeatedly and gluing the layers all together so that the words are lifted slightly. The background was done using a mix of ink blending for the sky and Copic coloring on the landscape below. I think the end result is totes adorbs, LOL!    :)

I love you more than treats...

Hello friends!

Quick question for all my fellow cat lovers out there... have you seen the fun Meow Meow sets from Dreamerland Crafts yet? If not, you've gotta check them out. There are four separate sets, each one containing six fun kitties in various poses and doing various things. For this cute slimline I actually paired kitties from three different sets to create another comic strip style card, which was super easy with the help of the stitched windows slimline die from Trinity Stamps. I colored this kitty into a sweet tabby who is begging not-so-subtly for a small snack. The sentiments are from a couple different My Favorite Things sets and I love how the little ones kinda add the kitty's inner monologue. I will admit, this scenario happens all too often in my own home, LOL!

Thanks for dropping by today!  :)

Love...

Hello, hello!

I pulled out a couple more of my older Stacey Yacula stamps from Purple Onion Designs yesterday to make a sweet Valentine's Day card. This little Heartfelt mouse has been waiting to see ink for awhile and it was time to fulfill his stampy destiny. I paired him with the Bunting Flags for a little extra interest in the background and then completely embraced the classic pink and red combo for the majority of the card. It's all pretty clean and simple but when you've got an image as cute as this sweetie what more do you need?  ;)

Later gators!

A very good day...

Good morning!

I found myself playing with another of the new stamp sets from Hello Bluebird yesterday but rather than create a background by hand I really wanted to use this handy dandy Big Mountain Scene die. It's always fun to shake things up a bit and not rely solely on my Copics to add color and shading to a scene. So I did some ink blending for the sky and bottom half of the mountains and saved my Copics to color the snowy hills and snow caps. The happy dancing pair of Polar Friends were colored with Copics and fussy cut before adding them to the scene. I wanted something big and bold for the sentiment and I found the perfect saying in the older Happy Wishes set. Now usually I don't decorate the inside of a card but because the sentiment needed to continue within, I also pulled out the Holiday Flurries set and added a sprinkling of snowflakes around that second half of the sentiment. It's a simple touch but I think pretty cute. :)

Toodles!

Royally fabulous...

 Hello again!

The lovely Fairytale Princesses were released from the Sweet November Stamps vault yesterday where I shared sassy pants Lillianne. I also did a Live coloring video yesterday and sweet Rhianna was the subject of that card which I am sharing here today. I paired this pretty princess with the waterfall castle digi but this time I cropped the castle off and stretched the digi a bit to make the waterfalls taller. I also used the mossy rock wall which was also cropped in close to help bring Rhianna front and center. As a fun little surprise I also added the frog from the Surfacing Builder set to her lap. Do we think he is a prince just waiting for true loves kiss? LOL! ;)

Ok, time for me to get ready for work. Have a good rest of your weekend!
