You bring sunshine to a cloudy day...

Hey there!

I'm back again with a card for day two of the new Background Stamp release sneak peeks at Hello Bluebird! If you are a stamper like me who loves to create scenes for your characters, this release is gonna make you all kinds of happy. There are three new clear 6x6 scenes coming on Thursday the 25th at 7pm MST, much in the same vein as the previously released Pathway and Farmland stamps. In addition to that, not only are all of the older 6x6 rubber pattern background stamps being re-released as clears but Hello Bluebird is also adding four new patterns to that line up. Whew, so much stamping goodness!

Ok, so my card today pairs the new By the Sea background with one of the adorable beach combers from the Seaside Girls set. Because the background stamps are a generous 6x6 size, depending on where you place the stamp over a standard A2 sized card front you can get very different looks with just a single stamp. This By the Sea stamp actually has a lighthouse and other details on the left hand side of the scene but I chose to play up the big sweeping cloud bank this time around because I like how it ties in with her hair that seems to be blowing in the wind. Speaking of those awesome clouds, there is a lot of line work going on in them that can start to feel a bit heavy when stamped in black ink. Instead I first inked up the top half of the stamp in a blueish grey ink and stamped it using my Misti, then inked just the bottom half of the scene using a darker brown ink and stamped again. I love how this trick keeps all those lines looking light and airy. The card was finished off with a sentiment from the Rainy Day set because I like how it plays off of this little gal with her red hair and yellow beach dress looking like a ray of sunshine against the more muted colors of my background.  :)

So tomorrow is the last day of sneak peeks and the release will be available for purchase at 7pm MST. Until then be sure to hop on over to the Hello Bluebird blog for the first of two chances to win a gift certificates to the store before the big release!
