Cozy season...

Olo!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog again with another card featuring the super cute Fall Clean Up Crew stamp set that can still be found in the September Fall Expanded kit. My last card using this set found all of the critters busily doing yard work, raking leaves and bringing in the pumpkin harvest. So it seemed only right to give them a well deserved rest this time around, complete with steaming hot mugs of cocoa. The little napping fox and seated squirrel both seem quite relaxed so I just had to do a bit of masking with some of the other accessory images also included in the Fall Clean Up Crew set to give them the perfect place to kick back. Once again, when masking a scene together you always want to start with the images that will be most forward in the scene and work your way back. In this case I started with the small pile of leaves and the wee mouse using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I then masked them before adding the fox and the squirrel into place. The log and mug behind the fox were next, followed by the tree stump, second mug and thermos. Finally, the large pile of leaves was stamped behind the log to complete the scene.

With all of the masks removed I could finally grab my Copic markers and start coloring in the woodland background that these adorable critters would call home. By using light yellow markers for the sky it gives the scene a warm hazy glow, much like the last warm rays of sunshine on a crisp Autumn day. The yellow tones are also very easy to add light colored tree trunks right over top, making coloring much quicker because I don't have to try and go around each individual tree. One large tree trunk, nice and close and a couple bushes were added before I could then color in all of the grass. The really fun part comes when it is time to start bringing the critters to life with color, completing the delightful scene. I used the Gallery Frame #6 die to frame everything then added the sentiment from the Cozy Season Words die, which is unfortunately already sold out. The leaf and acorn die cut accents are all from the Gourds and Leaves die set, which is included in the September Fall Expanded kit.
