Thanks a bunch...

TGIF my friends!

And oh what a special Friday it is because the newest stamp collection by Stacey Yacula has just released at Purple Onion Designs! This fabulous new spring collection is called A Happy Little Place and it includes ten character images, eleven background builders and a wonderful set of fifteen coordinating sentiments. As always Purple Onion gives you the freedom to order from these collections a la carte, which is awesome but if you are someone who 'suffers' from Full Set Syndrome like myself then now is the time to take advantage of the limited time discount of 30% OFF when you order the complete Happy Little Place collection. This promotion will only be available for two weeks, so if you are thinking about treating yourself to some new rubber stamps don't wait too long. ;)

For my first card out I really wanted to play with the cool way you can stack the Room with a View atop either the Book Store or the Flower Shop and create a two story building that fills a tall slimline card perfectly. I chose the Flower Shop since I wanted Junie bunny with her bouquet to look like she just got a special delivery from the shop below as she stands out on her balcony. Jane, the fox, is out on the sidewalk below caring for some of the plants she has out for sale. It makes for quite the charming scene don't you think?

Have fun checking out all of the lovely new stamps and filling up that cart with a few too.  ;)

Swimming by...

Hello there!

I'm up on the TGF blog today and the recent Farmer's Market inspired me to ink up some of the sweet mermaids from the Mermaids Galore kit just in time for the start of MerMay. I didn't get much of a chance to play with these cuties when they released last year so I've really been looking forward to making all sorts of scenes with the various mermaids and sea critters that are included in this large kit. For my card today I started by inking only the top half of one mermaid so that it looks like she is popping out of the water. To help really sell that idea I also added lighter tones of her hair and skin beneath the surface, letting them fade out to the blue of the water.  On the other side of the card I stamped the adorable harbor seal and masked him off before stamping one of the seated mermaids just behind him. This allowed me to color both of them onto an outcrop of rock. The spotting on the harbor seal's coat also inspired the patterning that I added to the mermaid's tail. The rest of the background was kept fairly simple, I used my lightest yellow and blue Copic markers for the sky to create a bright sunrise and then added freehand spits of land silhouetted against it, complete with palm trees. The sentiment is also included in the Mermaids Galore kit and ties this fun scene together perfectly!

Laters!  :)

The unicorn of friends...

Good morning!

Once again, my apologies for being MIA the past couple of days. It's been a whirlwind of activity lately with work getting super busy and of course getting ready for MerMay. I had so little time to color that my card today was completed in any spare minutes I had over the past two days. I knew that I needed something cute but quick and this fun unicorn was perfect. He's called Dante and I got him as a Christmas gift when my sister surprised me with a bunch of amazing stamps from the Italian shop, Impronte d'Autore. For the background I went back to the new Copic Enchantment online course from Sandy Allnock. This time I played around with the enchanted forest class, adapting the original slimline scene to work on my smaller A2 sized card front. If any of you have been on the fence about taking this coloring course from Sandy, I can't recommend it enough. Just my second class in and I've already learned a handful of little tips and tricks that have reinvigorated my love of coloring. :)

Already, time to tackle another busy day. Have a good one!

Long time no sea...

Hello again!

The April newsletter
for Sweet November Stamps went out last night and some of you may have gotten a sneak peek of this month's subscriber freebie during my Live coloring video yesterday. With MerMay right around the corner I decided to dive in early with a new mertot digi, little miss Waverley and her fishy friend, Hydro. These two starred in my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook video where we colored a seaweed covered ocean floor hidden in an underwater cave. It was another fun coloring session, spending a couple hours with like minded crafters who just 'get' all those same crazy things that make this hobby so fun and amazing.  :)

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
