Let's take a snow day...

Good morning!

The Sweet November Stamps December newsletter was sent out last night. Because of the holiday break there wasn't a whole lot to review but that doesn't mean we weren't going to share a new free digi for all of our subscribers. That and it also has some big news about an after Christmas sale going on right now! Yep, everything in the Christmas category, including the newest clear release, are 25% OFF through December 31st. As for the December freebie, you can see Flutterbee Wynter on my card below. This wide eyed cutie is busy building a snowman while the snow falls all around her. I filmed the coloring of this scene so if you are interested in watching it come together you can catch the short Reel on Instagram or the full length speed coloring on the Sweet November Stamps Youtube channel.

See ya in the new year!

Merry Christmas...

Hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog with my final post of 2022. With Christmas just days away I found myself reaching for the North Pole Littles stamp set so I could have some fun with Santa as he prepares for his big night. There are so many adorable characters included in this set that it can be hard to choose which ones to ink up. So I went to my collection of HB dies to see how much room I would be working with and when I settled on the Nesting Mini Slimline die I could picture Santa and his team of reindeer about to take off into the night sky. Of course a couple cute elves had to be there too to lend a hand as well. I set about stamping and masking my scene together using Memento Rich Cocoa ink on Copic X-Press It card stock. Once all of the characters were in place I decided to add the decorative mini trees from the Big Christmas Greetings set off in the distance behind Santa and the elves, using Hero Arts Forest ink. Next, it was time to grab my Copic markers and start coloring. As sweet as these characters are I chose marker colors that are just as soft and sweet to compliment their over all look. Lots of pretty pastels mixed in with the traditional reds and greens keep this Christmas card looking quite cheery. For the sentiment I stamped the large "Merry" from Big Christmas Greetings in the upper right corner using Versamark Watermark ink and white heat embossing powder. The smaller "Christmas" is from the Joy and Peace stamp set and I stamped it using Pure Poppy ink from Papertrey Ink. I trimmed it out using scissors and glued it onto the card at a wonky angle for added playfulness. A handful of specialty pens helped me add the finishing touches to my card, the Pear Blossom Press silver gel pen for bells on the reindeer harnesses, a dark green Copic Spica glitter pen for the reins and an extra fine white Sharpie for the falling snow.

Toodles!

Wonderful moments...

Hello, hello!

Just a quick pop in to share this fun card that I made using another one of the stamped images that have been sitting on my desk for years, waiting to fulfill their card destiny. This darling pair of polar bears from the CC Designs Christmas Together set finally got that chance. The interaction between these two is so great, they both look super excited to get that Christmas tree back to their cave and start decorating. In the background I colored in some ice flows floating in the cold arctic water and as a finishing touch, just a hint of snow beginning to fall. This really was another card that came together super quick, which is perfect for these busy days where I find myself short on crafty time. :)

Alrighty, gotta run. See ya in 24!

It's presents time...

Good morning!

This cute Babbo Rudy stamp from Impronte d'Autore totally cracks me up. The way Rudolph is tearing into that present seems to be leaving Santa quite astounded. I paired them both with the Christmas Tree from the Plate A Buone Feste set to help set the scene and I sure hope Rudy doesn't knock it over considering the frenzy he seems to be in, LOL! The sentiment was borrowed from the Colorado Craft Company But First Presents set and I stamped it on a die cut circle so it would look like a wall hanging back there. The Gallery Frame #4 die from Hello Bluebird, frames in this festive holiday scene and gives the design a bit of space to breath since there is a lot going on there.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday wishes and mistletoe kisses...

Hello all!

I'm up on the Bellariffic blog with my final Scenic Saturday card for this year and it is one more for Christmas. This time around it was Uptown Girl Eve Under the Mistletoe that caught my attention and sparked some creative inspiration. She's one of the largest Uptown Girls in my collection so going with a slimline card base seemed the perfect way to showcase Eve. You can tell Eve is all dolled up for a fancy Christmas party so I chose to give her an elegant pearl white cocktail dress with festive red trimming. In order for that light colored dress to really pop, I would have to do something dark in the background. Now, to be perfectly honest, my crafting time and energy has been a bit limited as we near Christmas. So where I would normally dive into a fun and detailed background I instead gave myself permission to take it easy and grab my Copic airbrush system and a stencil instead. My apologies if this black bokeh effect background isn't as inspiring as usual but I think it is important to share that not every card has to be a "work of art" to be a work of heart. Simple and chic suits Eve just fine, leaving me with a perfectly fun card and plenty of time to get some of the other things crossed off my holiday to-do list. So, if nothing else, be kind to yourself this holiday season and don't let your crafting become just one more thing adding stress to the hustle and bustle of these days. It's okay to do some easy-peasy crafting and still have it be very fulfilling.  :)

TTFN!
