Party time!

Hey, hey, hey!

So are you ready to kick off the party TGF is hosting right now over at the PCP page? You won't want to miss out on all the chatter, fun and games that are going on in celebration of this month's fabulous stamp release which is only hours away from going live in the store, WOOT WOOT! :)

Speaking of fun and games... we've got a speed challenge going on for you to create either a shabby chic or a retro chic card. All of the details can be found on the TGF blog and you will have until tomorrow at 2pm central to get your card uploaded to the galleria and a chance to win!

Now neither shabby or retro chic are styles that I would say fall easily into my wheelhouse of card design but that made this a real challenge for me and I was excited to take it on. I knew I wanted to use Cheeky Mate and try my hand at a shabby chic card, so I dug around in my stash of 4th of July papers and came across what I thought looked to be uber shabby patterns. I started putting my card together and as I laid it all out somewhere along the way I think I strayed a bit more into the retro chic style than the shabby... oh well, at least it still qualified in one of the categories, LOL! ;)

Alrighty, I'll see you over at the TGF PCP page... talk to ya there!

A very Spesch-al preview

Hey all!
I hope you aren't getting tired of all my posting going on but I've got so many cool things to share right now that I just gotta do it!

So my blog buddy and owner of the fun and fabulous Spesch Designer Stamps, Tracey, invited me to be a guest designer for the month of June and I was delighted to accept the position. When I saw the super cute summer digis that are being released today I was even more excited and couldn't wait to dive right in. :)
Spesch is introducing a new stamp designer, Max, to their range of images and this adorable little summertime dude is one of his designs. As soon as I printed out this cute kiddo visions of a hot beach and cool ocean waves filled my head so I ran with it and created a scene for him to live in on my card. I don't know about you but I'm always thrilled to find cool boy images for my guy cards and this one definitely fits the bill!

There are also three more images being released today that I'll be sharing later in the week but I highly recommend that you head on over to the Spesch blog to see all the fab cards Tracey and her team have created for the previews, I know you're gonna love them! :)

Monday Mania!

Hello, hello!

I hope all my friends in the States are enjoying this fine Memorial day weekend. I've had a couple of days off which is great because town gets positively crazy this time of year so I like to hole up here at home and avoid the wild, drunken crowds. What can I say... I'm getting old I guess, LOL! ;)

Ok, getting down to business... I've got a card for the wonderful new Monday Mania challenge over at CA&Friends. Amy (crafty amy) is this week's hostess and her challenge is all about creating a card that is inspired by a song. How fun is that?!

Now I've been listening to my Glee soundtracks pretty much non-stop lately so is it any surprise that my card is inspired by one of them? I couldn't have told you who the original artist was until I googled it (Jennifer Paige) because in my mind it will always be tied to my number one show. :)
And as soon as I came across Flirty Edward, from the Roll Call set, in my stamps the whole card just kind of tumbled together and I think it turned out really sweet. Doesn't little Annika just look like she is crushing on that hottie? LOL

I really hope to see a lot of my fellow music lovers play along this week. Remember that the prize is a single TGF rubber stamp of your choice (and the new release will be out by then even)! ;)

See ya in just a bit with my second Simply Betty preview!

Lola... la la la la la Lola

Hiya!

So today we are kicking off previews of the 'My Kids Emo World' range at Simply Betty Stamps and if you haven't checked them out yet what are you waiting for? These quirky cuties and their animal friends are being released on June 1st and until then there is a special pre-order going on with 10% off your entire order.... pretty sweet! :)

For my first preview card the sleek and trendy miss Lola was insistent that she be in the spotlight and I was more than happy to oblige. This girl definitely has a style that is all her own and she's not afraid to strut her stuff! Lola also comes with her very own pet rat, whom I've started referring to as Nimh since he kinda reminds me of the rats from the "Secret of Nimh" cartoon, LOL! What a pair these two make. :)

To see even more Simply Betty goodness just head on over to the Simply Betty blog where there is all sorts of fun stuff to check out as well as a list of my fellow DT members blogs! I'll also have another preview to share tomorrow at midnight and this is all leading up to the Grand Opening Celebration blog hop on the 1st. I hope to see you there!

Simply Betty Stamps

Hey all!
I've got some super exciting news that I've been bursting at the seams to share with you and the day has finally arrived when I can shout it from the rooftops! :)

Simply Betty Stamps are some of the coolest new kids on the block and I immediately fell in love with their hip, retro-esque cartoon vibe as soon as I saw them. So when I was invited to be a part of the SBS design team it was a total no brainer... and my answer was, "heck yes"! LOL
If you haven't checked them out yet, head on over to the Simply Betty blog or the store and take a look... there is actually a pre-order going on through the 31st with 10% off. If that isn't cool enough, Betty is also putting the names of everyone who pre-orders into a drawing and one lucky winner will actually get their entire order for free! Let me tell you, these stamps are SO much fun to color... oh and each one even comes with a quirky little friend too so you won't want to miss out on this deal!
Official previews will begin tonight at midnight pst and will lead up to the GRAND OPENING BLOG HOP on June 1st. So be sure to stop by later when I'll be able to formally introduce you all to my new friends!
See ya then! :)

Queen for a day

Hello, hello!

I'm afraid that once again I'm going to have to post and run... so much to do, so little time. :)

My card today is for two challenges, first up is the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge to use charms. I'll be the first to admit that my little stash of charms is not one of my usual go-to embellishments so I thought this would be a fun one to do. When I started sifting through them the filigree circle first caught my eye and immediately made me think of this cute Princess Petunia stamp. Now a plan was starting to form... I pulled out the sketch for the Tickled Pink challenge this month and new right away that it would be a perfect fit for the theme of my card. Doesn't it kind of look like the 'days of yore' pennants and crests with the four square block design? Add to that the perfect brocade looking papers and I was happily transported back in time to restrictive corsets and a serious lack of indoor plumbing... wait did I say happily? LOL
I still like the card though. ;)

Ok, time for me to get ready for the day... talk to ya later!

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah-ah!

roma-roma-mamaa! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!

Too bad you gals can't see the fab Gaga ensemble I'm rockin' right now... heeheehee just kidding! Though what girl wouldn't love a silver lobster mask? ;)
I think I could have watched a whole nother hour of last night's Glee episode, I was really loving it. Without too much spoiling I think the best line of the night went to Kurt with, "and we've got a jumper." LOL

Ok, ok I have a card for the new Wednesday challenge over at ATS today and it's a very cool sketch this week... lots of opportunities for mixing patterns and colors. Which, as you can see is exactly what I did and I sure went for bold and bright, LOL! Miss Chanter was telling me that she was ready for summer to arrive so I just had to listen to her. :)

We would love to have you join the fun and remember, every week there is a new and exciting prize being offered! In order to be eligible to win, your card must include a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps store. Whether it is any of our wonderful in house designs or from the various other stamp companies that ATS carries, the choice is yours. Then be sure to link up your creation with Mr Linky by next Tuesday at 10pm est and only one entry per person please!

Okey dokey, I'm off to get busy... have a lovely day sweeties! :)

It's a good day

Howdy friends!

I've got a simple little card to share with you today and can I just say it felt good to pull together some pattern paper scraps for this one... it was like finding a long lost friend after all these no DP challenges. LOL, ok so maybe that's being a bit dramatic but I gotta say that I felt like I was finally back in my comfort zone. :)

Now I was experimenting with a new hair color combo here and to be perfectly honest I'm not that thrilled with the results. BUT it wasn't a complete train wreck and I really loved pairing little WS Paul with this Kid Quote sentiment so I used him anyway. Doesn't he just look a bit guilty of maybe getting into a scrap and trying to act all innocent now? Heehee... yea I thought so too. ;)
I also thought it would be good to share that I don't always get the results I'm aiming for on the first try either. Like everyone else I'm constantly learning and practicing and honing my craft and it's inevitable that I'll have an off moment now and then.... nobody is perfect!

So even though this may not be my most "WOW" card, I learned something from it and that, as Martha Stewart would say, is a good thing. :)

TTFN!

A happy hello

Hey gals! I hope your day is off to a lovely start. :)

There are so many cool things I'm working on right now but I have to be patient and wait a couple weeks before I can start sharing them with you all and it's killin' me! I promise though that the wait will be worth it... just you wait and see. This little ol' blog of mine will be hopping like it's never hopped before! ;)

Getting back to the present, I have a card that I made for today's Monday Mania at CA & Friends. The fabulous Leanne is hosting a cool color challenge to use orange, pink and blue and she also has the restriction of using no pattern paper! Oooh these challenges lately just seem to love keeping me from my pretty papers, LOL!
These colors reminded me of an early summer day so I decided to do a bit of altering to dress miss Gigi in a more seasonally appropriate wardrobe (thanks to WS Summer) and placed her in a field of flowers with the stamped blue sky behind her. I think she's having a really good time, don't you?
We would love to see you play along in the fun this week if you can. :)

Okey dokey, time for me to get busy, busy... toodles!

Simple Sunday

Well, well, well... here we are at another simple Sunday and considering my work schedule I couldn't have made much else, LOL!
So usually I wouldn't think I could pull off a card in under 20 minutes when I had a Sprout to color and cut out but considering that the whole rest of the card consists only of a pre-cut and folded card base, a sheet of rub-ons and a single brad... well, let's just say that left me about 15 minutes for my main image. :)
I used Jeremy from the Roll Call set (love it) because I thought he looked the part for the sentiments I was using... isn't he just the coolest little tough guy? I pulled all my Copic colors from the rub-ons and then it was wham-bam done! Have I mentioned that guy cards seem to work great for quick and easy? ;)

Anywho... thanks for dropping by, I'll see you in 24!

Hey there cookie

Hey there... I'm on the run as I've got work, so this is going to be short and sweet. :)

My card today is for this week's Tiddly Inks 'no designer paper' challenge. Now you know me and how much I love my pretty papers so these kinds of challenges always make me scratch my head for a bit. Because I had gone the embossing route earlier in the week I decided to do a bit of stamping to create a background this time. So I mixed things up with some polka dots and extra cookie digi images (that were one of the Tiddly Inks freebies for PCP group members... SO cute) since I liked how they all worked together with the whole circle vibe. And isn't Cookie Bugg adorable? I think I must really have a soft spot for images with sweet treats, LOL! ;)

Well, that's all the time I have this morning... hope you all have a lovely stamp happy day today!

Sparkle goes to the dark side

Hey there!
Who all is really glad to see Friday finally roll around again? I am ! I am!

I've got a lot planned for my day off but nothing that I'm dreading so it should be a good day. :)

So I was having fun with the Burtonesque challenge once again and this week we are to use black flowers and skulls somewhere in our card design. As it turned out I ended up only using a single large flower and a single skully brad but I think it works within the parameters. ;)
I thought it would be cool to color miss Sparkle Thistleweed in a bit more dark and twisty kind of way than I have in the past, just to see if she could pull off a look appropriate for the challenge. And I gotta say I think she looks both edgy and cute like this.

Alrighty, I'm outta here... have a lovely day my friends!

Supply list:
cardstock- Bazzill and PTI
paper- Basic Grey (purple)
stamps- Sweet November (Sparkle Thistleweed), Hero Arts (sentiment)

Summer dreams

Hello and good morning!

So if you stopped by the CA&Friends blog yesterday you've already seen the card I have to share here today. If you haven't stopped by there yet, you may want to check out the fun WCW challenge that will have you longing for sunny, summer days! :)
The challenge is to create a summer time card with yellow being the primary color in the papers you use... luckily for me I had this great yellow cloud paper from Pebbles just waiting to be used. Doesn't it look like the sky on a warm summer evening? That paper was the inspiration for the whole rest of the card... especially when I also had this fun little scooter stamp that I've been wanting to pair with just the right Sprout and Summer turned out to be the one. There's something about a scooter that just says summer to me, not that I've ever ridden on one but it looks like it could be kinda fun. :)
All in all this is a pretty simple little card but the story it tells makes me happy!

Thanks for stopping by!
Supply list:
cardstock- Bazzill and PTI
paper- Pebbles (yellow and green), Stamping Station (black)
stamps- The Greeting Farm (WS Summer), Imaginisce (scooter), Hero Arts (sentiment)
ink- Memento tuxedo black and Colorbox creamy brown chalk ink
Prima flowers
Kaiser Craft pearls
Copic markers:

Emboss it!

Three words my friends... Neil Patrick Harris!
LOL, wasn't he an excellent guest star? As funny as he was with Shue I gotta say that his scene with Sue was pretty hilarious. My fave part of the episode though, had to be Artie and that cool flash mob. Seriously, who doesn't dream of one day dancing in unison with strangers in a public place? ;)

Ok, ok yes I do actually have a card to talk about today too, LOL... I just got a bit sidetracked in my Glee euphoria. :)
So it's Wednesday and that means we've got a new challenge up over at ATS and this week is all about dry embossing. So pull out that Cuttlebug or whatever dry emboss system you use and join the fun! Remember, every week there is a new and exciting prize being offered and in order to be eligible to win, your card must include a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps store. Whether it is any of our wonderful in house designs or from the various other stamp companies that ATS carries, the choice is yours. Then be sure to link up your creation with Mr Linky by May 25th at 10pm est and only one entry per person please!

I have to admit that I don't use my Cuttlebug near enough... I've got all these great folders and I love the results when I do use them but I just have a tendency to always reach for the pattern paper first. By the time I get it all cut and glued into place there isn't much room left for the embossing. I think that must be why I like a good embossing challenge every now and then, because it forces me to think outside my normal 'box'. ;)
So I decided to go with this cool dandelion type embossed design and sanded the raised image a bit to let the white core of the cardstock show. Once that was done I added some Diamond Stickles to the little dots for some fun sparkle and shine. Next it was time to figure out who was going to live on this card, so I started flipping through my stamps and right away Ladybug Nora was jumping out at me. Ahhh... a plan is coming together... now I just had to scavenge out where that ladybug ribbon went too (boy do I need to find some time for a good spring cleaning of my craft room). Any who, when I set about coloring miss Nora I thought she needed some black hair and I realized that I've been coloring a lot more black hair recently and I'm pretty sure it's because of the new toner and neutral grey Copics that I recently added to my coloring arsenal. I gotta say that I am really liking them for my hair choices. :)

Just because...

It's a Glee-full Tuesday once again my friends, yeah!
I wonder what awesome songs we will be treated to tonight? ;)

So I've really got a 'just because' card today... I didn't make it for any challenges and I've got no specific recipient in mind, I was purely having some fun with this one. Though I did want to experiment with a new lighter red hair color combo that I've been kicking around and I gotta say that I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. It kinda reminds me of Anne of Green Gables red, which is just what I was aiming for. So you know this one will be going in the keeper recipe list. :)

The rest of the card is just using some new BG Kioshi paper and epoxy stickers. Their soft colors seemed to suit miss Miko, from the new Roll Call set, to a "T" and I think it looks like she's walking through her own little secret garden now. Listen to me mixing up my literary references... Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden... I can't seem to make up my mind on which one is influencing this card more, LOL!

Well I hope you all enjoy a craft happy day today and a most excellent night to my fellow Gleeks! :)

This is me

Hiya sweeties!

We had a crazy thunder and lightening storm blow through here yesterday evening but other than worrying about losing power I gotta say that there is something pretty cool about a heavy spring rain. Watching it bounce off the road and the clean, fresh smell of it just can't be beat. :)

I have a really fun card to share with you today and I made it for Shaela's "This is me" Monday Mania challenge over at CA & Friends. The whole point of the challenge is to create a card that describes you in one way or another so of course I had to do a bit of altering. I used Stella's head with Paul's body to create a little mini me because I wear my hair short and if I'm not at work or out and about I like nothing more than the comfort of my sweatpants to kick around at home or take Puppy Little on a walk in (I think of it as channelling my inner Sue Sylvester, LOL).
Then as I've mentioned before, orange is my favorite color so it was a must have on this card as was drawing up a little pup pup because I don't go very many places without my little guy. And finally the fun Kid Quotes sentiment pulls the whole thing together because it totally suits my sense of humor. :)
All in all I really love everything about this card which makes me think I succeeded in creating something that is totally me!

I really hope to see you all play along this week as I'm so excited to see all of your mini yous, LOL!

Toodles!

Another Burtonesque Sunday

Howdy friends!

Well I survived work yesterday and even got to enjoy some sunshine and lovely weather once I got home. :)
Considering all that sunny goodness it's kind of funny that I made such a dark, quick and easy card for Simple Sunday today. But I did want to take on the Burtonesque challenge again, especially since I had this cool Tiddly Inks digi that I wanted to color up and thought would be absolutely perfect for it! So I quickly colored miss Batty in a very monochromatic color scheme and gave her a little scene to inhabit as well. The rest of the card is super simple... just a couple squares of paper and a sheet of doodle looking rub-ons plus rub-on alphas for the sentiment and viola! Finished card... and I was back outside to enjoy the evening! :)

Now it's time to head off to work again... hope your weekend has been fantastic! Supply list:

Hola!

Good morning!

I hope you aren't getting tired of seeing cards with the new Roll Call Wild Sprouts yet because I'm still having too much fun with them (and they are available for purchase starting today, yeah!). :)
So today it is Maria's turn and OMGosh isn't she just the sweetest little baby doll there is? She totally reminds me of my best friend from grade school, Liz. Liz always had her hair done up with the coolest barrettes that a little girl could ever long for. So I had to color Maria up to look just like the little Liz from my memories.
I used Pam's CA & Friends Saturday sketch for the design of my card and I also made my own flower embellishment so that I could enter this into the Quixotic challenge this week. I cut out a couple circles of paper towel and used a small brad to hold them together. I spritzed them with Glimmer Mist and scrunched it up, then let it dry like that. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it hardened a bit and held its scrunchy shape once all was said and done. Yeah!

Sigh, I guess I should be getting ready for work now... can you tell I'm having a hard time getting jazzed about that? It's just so beautiful out that I can think of a dozen other things that I'd rather be doing today but responsible Amy is winning out once again this morning. Ok, I'm off... see ya tomorrow! :)
