That's what friends are spore...

Good morning!

Some of you may know that the Sweet November cards I make are added to every physical stamp order that is placed in the SN shop. This has been working out great but now the amount of orders is catching up with my card output and our stash is nearly depleted. Don't get me wrong, this is a great problem to have, but it has also lit a fire under me to get some more cards made post haste! So as I was digging through the pile of stamped and printed images that seem to collect on the side of my desk, I ran across three of the Midsummer Mushroom cuties that I have yet to make cards with. Yesterday I set about remedying that situation and colored up little Amanita whom I paired with Chenille, the caterpillar from the Darby and Chenille digi set. I think they look really cute together in this simple outdoor scene. Now to get the other two done... wish me luck!

Toodles!

Magic happens every day...

Hey, hey!

Yesterday we rolled out the red carpet for our four fashionable Catwalk Witches at Sweet November Stamps. I shared cards featuring Evilene and Locasta and now it is Theadora and Genevieve's turn to have the spotlight shine on them. To that end I colored up Theadora with her spiderweb gown during my Saturday Live over on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page. We ended up giving her a very traditional Halloween hued dress and foggy background to wander through.

I also got a card done using sweet Genevieve and her bat familiar. With her big, voluminous skirt I really wanted to color it orange so it would look a bit like a pumpkin. After coloring the bats  in black I also added a bit of sparkle around them using a Sakura starburst glitter pen.

But that's not all! We also sent out the August newsletter last night which included the brand new Flutterbee Drusilla who is our freebie for all Sweet November newsletter subscribers. This little cutie is proof that not all Flutterbees like to hang out with butterflies... some of them prefer the company of bats, LOL!

Laters!

The Catwalk Witches are strutting this way...

Welcome back!

We are continuing the Halloween fun at Sweet November Stamps with this week's digital release... the Catwalk Witches. Or maybe I should say, the black catwalk witches, LOL! These glamorous spell casters know that being elegant and impeccably dressed can be just as important as knowing the right incantations when it comes to being recognized in the magical community. There are four fashionable witches; Locasta, Evilene, Genevieve and Theadora. Each one is dressed to the nines in her most stylish gown and matching hat.

For my first card I've printed out the enchanting Evilene and her owl onto a tall slimline card. This way I could make her nice and big with lots of dress to color. Speaking of her dress, it is embroidered with a stylized owl pattern under a starry night sky. This reflects the love she has for her owl familiar. I paired them both with the Spooky Full Moon digi, shining down like a spotlight on them.

For my second card, lovely Locasta got a similar slimline treatment, complete with the Spooky Full Moon and even some bats this time around. She is showing off the intricate pumpkin design woven into her plum colored velvet gown as she sashays across the moors.

Now be sure to go check out the Friends of Sweet November Stamps group on Facebook for even more Catwalk Witches inspiration from Caitlin, Tee and our wonderful guest designer, Jess Crafts! I will also be coloring Live later this morning at 11am PST on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page and I hope to see you there!

You can also find us on Instagram @sweetnovemberstamps and don't forget to use the #sweetnovemberstamps any time you share a card or project using SN images so we can see all of your beautiful makes!

Feel better soon...

Hello!

I'm back on the Bellarific Blog with a new Scenic Saturday card to share and I couldn't wait to ink up another stamp from the newest release to hit the Stamping Bella store. This adorable little sweetheart is Bundle Girl with Berries and she is helping to heal her birdie friend who seems to have hit a rough patch. Because the characters in this stamp run a bit on the smaller size I was concerned that they might get lost if I colored them into a full A2 sized scene. Instead I grabbed a large circle die and stamped them onto it where the branch spanned all the way from one side of the circle to the other. This limited the size of my 'canvas' which not only sped up the coloring process but also guaranteed they would remain the stars of the show. Above the branch I filled in the top 2/3 of the circle with a warm, buttery sky and below the branch I loosely sketched in a variety of different trees in three different fall inspired colors to fill the bottom 1/3. This rule of thirds is a simple design trick that works on any shape or size canvas, creating a visual weight in your design that is very pleasing to the eye. When it came to coloring Bundle Girl's outfit and the bird's plumage I stuck with that same autumnal color palette. Finally I was ready to get my completed fall scene onto a card base and I chose card stock colors that played back to the leaves I had colored on the branch. I split them by that same 2/3 vs. 1/3 trick and lined up the branch in the scene with the die cut edge of the darker yellow card stock. I then found some paper leaves in my craft stash that matched perfectly and cute enamel dots that looked like berries. It's a pretty simple card design but I really love how everything ties together. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and stay crafty my friends!
