Coffee and friends...

TGIF my friends!

A new adorable quokka set was recently released at Kat Scrappiness called, Coffee Quokka and I couldn't wait to play with these happy little marsupials. I had such a hard time choosing which caffeinated cutie to ink up first that I ended up using all four quokkas from the set between this set of coordinating cards.

On this first card I paired the two quokkas with the over sized coffee cups. I stamped the one hanging off the side of the cup first, masked it off and then stamped the one sitting in the cup to the left and slightly higher up on the card. This way, when I removed the masking tape it appears that the one inside the cup is resting further back behind the full mug. To further that illusion I colored in a simple plaid printed tablecloth beneath them so it looks like they are both resting on a table top. Behind them I sketched in a window for some extra color and interest and even added a decorative sign resting on the window sill that contains one of the sentiments from the set.

My second card follows the same format as above, this time pairing the quokka sipping coffee and the one sitting on a mound of coffee beans. I may have gone a bit crazy stamping extra coffee beans, but they are so cute! I went with a different color scheme in this cozy kitchen and outside the window you see the morning sunshine peeking over the horizon. The sentiment was stamped down below, right on that striped tablecloth. I gotta say, these cheery coffee quokkas are sure to bring smiles... even on Monday mornings. LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Easter...

Hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog again and after the background die and background stamp mash up that I did last week turned out so well, I just had to try the technique again. This time around I paired the Winter Woods Overlay die with the Country Roads Background stamp for that extra sense of depth and dimension in this spring scene. I also altered the characters from the Picked For You set just a bit to make them work within the Easter egg hunt theme that I was going for on my card. Originally both the little girl and bunny have flowers either in their basket or paw so to change them up for the egg hunt I used a baby wipe to remove the ink from the flowers before stamping the image. This leaves open space to fill and in the case of the bunny I masked her off then used an egg stamp from the Little Painters set to replace the missing flowers. To fill the little girl's basket with eggs I grabbed a fine tipped black multi-liner pen to draw them in and replace a few missing lines in her skirt as well.

Once that was taken care of I masked them both and stamped the Country Roads Background right over top. Because I knew that I would be adding the die cut trees as a final touch, I chose not to ink up the big tree on the right hand side of the stamp. Instead I stamped in the individual flowers and tufts of grass from the Picked For You set to decorate both the background scene and the Winter Woods die. This time around I didn't piece the whole die cut scene together, instead I colored the stamped background on a bottom panel then colored the woodland frame die cut to match before gluing it on top. Once the trees were in place I cut apart one of the Spring Banner Script sentiments and stamped just the word 'Easter' in green ink to match the grassy field. I then grabbed the word 'happy' from the Just Sayin' set to complete the new sentiment. Yet again, I am quite pleased with how the mix of stamps and scene dies turned out and it feels really good to be showing the dies in my collection a bit more love.  :)

Toodles!

Loves all of you...

Hi friends!

This week is so crazy busy with behind the scenes work that I'm thankful to have a bit of a backlog of completed cards still waiting to be blogged. This card was made for the Spring clear release at Sweet November Stamps, it was even part of the Instahop on the Sweet November Stamps feed. I chose to color the mama hedgie with her baby from the Little Moments stamp set. In the background I stamped the hollow log and butterflies from the set before coloring in the surrounding forest by hand. I wanted it to look like this sweet pair live deep within the woods where the foliage is in full bloom. With the sentiment added, I think this makes for a darling Mother's Day card.  :)

Ok, time for me to go cross some things off the ol' to-do list. Have a good one!

Wishing you a special Easter...

Good morning!

There are still a few days left to play along in the Spring Challenge at Hello Bluebird. All you need to do for a shot at winning a $50 gift certificate to the Hello Bluebird store is create a new card or project using HB products that is inspired by the pretty mood board above and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #hellobluebirdspringchallenge by 11:59PM MST on March 31st. The winner will be randomly selected and announced on the HB Instagram account on April 1st.

For my inspiration card I inked up some of the cute critters in the Little Painters set and paired them with the birch trees in the Picked For You set. They are just getting ready to paint their Easter eggs in the pretty pastel hues of the mood board while the bunny and trees have that malted milk chocolate color from the challenge. I did have to throw in some soft green for all the grass in this scene but I tried to keep it as soft and muted as the rest of the colors. I die cut a simple white frame, using the Gallery Frame #1 die and it really makes those eggs pop, LOL! The Easter Banner Sayings sentiment was also heat embossed in white to match but my sky is so light that it gets a little lost. Oh well, I just chalk it up to being a handmade card.  ;)

Later gators!

Spring has sprung...

Hello there!

I'm up on The Greeting Farm blog today and even though I've received the newest Anya Combo kit, my crafting OCD won't let me move on until I get the last two Anyas from the original Anya Combo kit onto their own cards. To that end, I inked up this beautiful Anya with the head of fabulous curly hair for today's card. Even though I love her hair, it didn't leave a lot of room for scene building behind her on my A2 sized card so I had to get creative. The first thing I did was shift to a horizontal layout rather than vertical. This gave me about two inches to fill with a scene off to the left hand side of the card. Once again I went to the digital stamps section of the store to find the perfect elements to help create this Anya's story. I finally settled on her taking a walk in the park, enjoying a sunny spring day. The tulips from the new Happy Easter Anya set immediately say spring and I added the butterflies from the Gardening set fluttering around them. Next I grabbed the bench from the Park Lunch set and the tree from the Food Truck set. One of the great things about digital stamps is the capability to resize them and I took full advantage of that fact, shrinking the tree, bench and first bunch of tulips really small so they look quite far off in the distance. I then enlarged some more tulips and one of the butterflies so they would be up close, next to Anya. This was such an easy way to add a lot of depth to the completed scene. All that was left to do was color Anya and the background in pretty spring colors and I went with a lot of pretty pinks and greens. Now if only my real life days would be this nice, I would be just as happy as Anya here.  ;)

Stay crafty my friends!
