I love you snow much...

Hello friends!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today with a sweet winter scene celebrating all the wonder that comes with creating a special snow friend during these cold winter months. This adorable little hedgehog and snowman are from the Snowman Hugs set and I borrowed the stick arms from the Snowman Competition set to make it look like hedgie hasn't quite completed the task at hand. To help set the scene I also used just the tree trunk and frame from the Oak Tree Scene die layered over top the card stock that my images were stamped on. To make sure that the die cut tree trunk fit seamlessly into the picturesque scene, I first laid it down and used a light purple Copic marker to pull a shadow from the base of its roots. This helps to make it appear grounded and part of the environment. I then removed the tree and went about coloring in the snowy background and the two cute characters. I chose a color palette of soft blues and purples for the snow and sky, then mimicked that in the scarves of the hedgie and snowman with slightly more saturated versions of those colors. Next it was time to color the tree and get ready to assemble the card. With the tree colored, I first glued the die cut frame around the outside of the card front before nestling the tree into place. Once the tree was glued down I went ahead and sketched in a few blades of dead grass behind the roots and used a white gel pen to add snow on top of the bare branches. Both of these simple touches help reinforce the integration of the die cut tree as part of the scene. I then stamped one of the sentiments from the Snowman Hugs set into the empty space between the branch and the snowman using Papertrey Ink Winter Wisteria ink to match the purple of the distant mountains. For a final finishing touch I used a Spectrum Noir clear glitter pen to add a frosty sparkle to the white frame and the snowman's hat band. The end result is a charming card that makes me smile.  :)

Toodles!
