Hop, hop, waddle, waddle...

Hi guys!

I'm going to make this a quick one as I've got a lot going on this weekend, including work today. So jumping right into my card... yes it's another Easter one. ;)
I altered up this Bear Hug Gorjuss Girl by wiping away the bear's ears and drawing in longer bunny ears. Now instead of bear hugs these two are enjoying some Easter weekend bunny hugs... which are even better! I found this old October Afternoon paper in my stash and those ducklings really helped to set a spring scene for this card. I debated on that stripe in the background since it seemed a bit bold for an Easter card but in the end I like the sense of sunshine that it lends to everything.

Easter Blessings

Hey there!

It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday... LOL sorry, I couldn't help myself!

So we are just a couple days away from Easter and I'm already salivating thinking about that ham dinner and deviled eggs... yum! Oooo and some jellybeans too! ;)
In the meantime I've still got some Easter cards to share. Today I used one of the original Miss Anya's from The Greeting Farm and altered her just a bit by opening up her eyes. I've always thought that this little lady looks so ready for spring with her pretty basket full of tulips. I had a lot of Neapolitan scraps still hanging out on my desk so I decided to embrace a more haphazard layout design with little bits tucked in and layered together here and there. It was definitely a fun way to utilize all those little bits of pretty paper but my linear loving self still twitches a bit wanting to straighten a piece here and there. But I'm proud to say that I managed to leave well enough alone and Anya seems to be right at home amongst the mix.
I was also inspired to make my own little stick pin pennant as I've been seeing a lot from different paper companies recently. I'm happy to report that it was very easy to do and it opened up a whole different way for me to add a sentiment to my card which is great.

What's the story morning glory?

Olo!

I finished reading A Game of Thrones the other night and I'm officially hooked on the Songs of Fire and Ice series. A Clash of Kings is next and I'm already 50 pages in... love it! If any of you have been on the fence about jumping into these books I'm giving them two thumbs way up.

Ok, so I just got some of the new Kraftin Kimmie Flower Girls last week and I had to ink up Poppy first. Normally I would have had a ton of fun coloring her up like an orange California Poppy since they are one of my most favorite flowers evah. But as I was looking at her another favorite flower came to mind... one with a much more spring-ish look to it too, the Morning Glory! And look at that, more blue... yep, me and blue are bonding, LOL. But there was no help for it because she had to be that perfect Heavenly Blue shade.

The papers are all random scraps that I pulled from the handy scrap bags and I couldn't believe my luck when I found this old silk flower in my stash. It wasn't the right color at first but I was able to use an air spritzer with one of my Copics to give it the look I needed. Then it was time to hunt for something metal to add to my card because I wanted to enter this week's Kraftin Kimmie Heavy Metal challenge. I was about to give up my search when I came across these old flower charms that I think actually look a lot like Morning Glories... score!

Laughing in the garden

Hello again!

It's the second day of the CC Designs previews and I hope you are ready to Laugh. ;)

If you ask me, it's about time that we got a new addition to the Laugh line of stamps at ATS. I love their quirky cuteness and this new Garden Laugh girlie certainly fits that bill. She is just darling in her over-alls and rubber boots which is much more stylin' than I ever look while I'm out in the garden, LOL! With that great outfit of hers I really wanted to pull in more of that denim look on my card so right away I grabbed up the MME On the Bright Side paper pad. Not only did it give me the denim look that I was going for but I also loved the rainbow bright chevron print with Garden Laugh as well... it's bright and happy just like she is. Then I finished everything off with some accent stamps from an old Oriental Trading set that I've had for years. There is something about those little pots that I just love to color.

A rainy day kind of preview...

Hi folks!

Sweet November is taking a small break this month but no worries, we'll be back with new cuties from Sweet November Land in May! This means I'll be jumping right into the CC Designs previews today. :)

The Swiss Pixies are in the spotlight and this new girlie is called Rainy Day Birgitta. She has ducked beneath a leaf to avoid being drenched by a passing spring rain. Now the sun has returned to dry everything off and provide Birgitta with a glorious rainbow to brighten the rest of her day.
I decided to focus more on a color palette that reflected the rain aspect of this new image and worked with a lot of blue. To be honest, blue is probably one of my least go-to colors so this was quite the change of pace for me. I also had fun playing around with that leaf and trying to convey the green tone that it would cast down on her as the light shined through it. To do that I actually chose to use the E80's Copic family for her hair because those browns naturally have a greenish undertone to them. Then I really reinforced it by adding some of the YG03 to the highlights in her hair as well. I also pulled the YG21 onto her skin a bit but my photo isn't really picking that up unfortunately.

The sentiment is also a new one from AmyR that is part of the soon to be released So Wordy set. Speaking of releases... all of the new stamps will be available Friday, April 6th in the All That Scraps store. Until then, you will want to be sure and check out the ATS blog each day for plenty of chances to win!

Hello spring

Mornin'!
So it's back to the daily grind for me today. Unfortunately I was not a winner of the Mega Millions lotto drawing this past weekend so work I must. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed for the next one. ;)

My card is for the TGF Farm Fresh challenge to CASE one of the challenge team gals who have recently completed their term. And I knew just the card that I wanted to CASE. It was back in February when I first saw how Lisa tore the corners of her paper to reveal a second print below and, even then, I knew that I wanted to give this technique a try. So I inked up Easter Anya and altered her mouth a bit by wiping away the original open one and tracing in a more closed smile. She's colored up nice and bright to go with some more of that fun Doodlebug paper that I've been enjoying lately. I kept the over-all design pretty close to Lisa's original, though I did tend to go a bit crazier with the tearing. What can I say... I really wanted to see those jellybeans, LOL!

I also ended up doing a super quick little video tutorial on how I color grass. After posting my Masa card the other day I had several questions about it and this seemed as good a time as any to share how I go about grounding character stamps in a lush yard of green grass. Now for today's card... it was a fairly quick one considering that all of those pretty tags were part of a single sheet of paper. All I had to do was cut them out, add a bit of twine and a sentiment, then line them up across my card. Voila... layout complete. And it is so different from my usual go-to layouts that I felt like I was shaking things up a bit which is always a good thing. I added Gorjuss Girl Rose as my focal character simply because I thought she would look smashing with this Pretty Party paper. That, and I'm still on my mission to ink up some of my more neglected stamps. :)
