Like a rainbow...

Hello, hello!

Well I gotta say that this weekend turned out to be quite lovely. We got a bit of rain early Saturday morning which helped to clear up the oppressive smoke. So I was able to go outside and finally enjoy some beautiful blue skies once again. Plus it has continued to get cooler here, especially overnight which is helping with the fire situation all around. I can't tell you how much I needed to see that sunshine.  :)

And you know what you get when you mix sunshine and rain don'tcha? That's right... rainbows! Not that I saw a real rainbow this weekend but I was inspired to create my own on a card. This adorable little girlie is called Thank You and she is a digital stamp from Saturated Canary. With all those layers to her skirt I thought it would be fun to make her bright and colorful while keeping the rest of the card monochromatic white. She certainly pops off that background in a big way but I couldn't resist adding a bit of color to the sentiment as well. Rather than it taking anything away from Thank You I think it just helps reinforce the message of the card.

Ok time for me to mosey. Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!  :)

Hi there...

TGIF everybody!

I'm off for a day of coloring with my friends so I gotta keep this post short and sweet. I didn't have a lot of time in the crafty room yesterday so this little Spring Pup digi from Some Odd Girl was the perfect image for a quickie card. I colored him up to look like a bit like a Springer Spaniel with all those great spots... but yeah, I kinda got carried away with the spots, LOL! Oh well, who doesn't love a cute mutt?  ;)

Alrighty then, have a fabulous weekend my friends and I shall see you all again on Monday!  :)

MeWow...

Hello, hello!

The card I have to share with you today is one that I've been wanting to do for quite some time. This Lovin' Feline kitty by Art Impressions has got such a great attitude, he totally looks like he thinks that he is absolutely fabulous. So I figured he needed a sentiment that was just as amazing as he is. I gotta say that I was both surprised and a bit disappointed that none of the animal stamp sets in my stash included a "me-wow" pun. But I wasn't going to let that stop me, instead I grabbed these foam Thickers and made my own sentiment. I did a bit of altering to the cat too, originally he has some hearts on his backside that I just wiped away before stamping. And I also cut a sliver of the silver glitter cardstock so that he could have a blinged out collar as well.

Well, that's all I've got... thanks for stopping by!  :)
Supply list:
cardstock- Bazzill and Copic X-Press It

So thoughtful...

Hey there!

It's been a good long while since I've colored up a sepia toned image and last week I got together with a couple of friends to do just that. I've used the digital stamp Nevaeh from Saturated Canary because with that gorgeous hair and lovely dress she seemed perfect for this monochromatic treatment. It was so freeing and so much fun to work with a limited number of markers, it really makes you think about light and dark and using that contrast to add interest to the image. Nevaeh ended up with such a vintage charm about her that I wanted to continue that look with the rest of the card. Leave it to October Afternoon to provide a beautiful floral print that has that same feel of a bygone era. I went a little crazy inking up the edges with a sepia toned ink but I think it works.  ;)

Ok, thanks for dropping by my friends! See you manana!  :)

Hello friend...

Olo!

I've got another card to suit my colder weather frame of mind. This time I made an indoor scene using the Tip Me Tuesday Anya and Sitting Cute couch from The Greeting Farm. I absolutely love this Anya's mini size, a couple months ago I made a card with her on a park bench but today she is resting comfortably on a nice, soft sofa. I chose this scrap of old October Afternoon paper for the background because it totally looks like fancy wallpaper. Once I had that it wasn't a big leap to needing some artwork on that wall. So I grabbed these frames from the now retired CC Designs Take a Seat set and colored in my own nature scenes into each one. Sure, the card could have been finished right there but Anya seemed a bit lonely... what to do, what to do? Aha! The HallowBean digi has a super cute kitty with her so I just printed him out and added this furry friend for the perfect finishing touch.  :)

Have a good one everybody, I hope your week is off to a fabulous start!  :)

Apple of my eye...

Mornin' friends!

Temps are cooling down a bit here, especially overnight. Which is helping with the fire situation though you can still see it burning when you look down lake. The smoke and ash isn't great but there just isn't a thing that anyone can do about that considering how many fires are burning in our state right now. It definitely feels like the end of summer has already hit us.

I guess that is why I'm already making the shift to more fall themed cards like this one featuring adorable little Chloe from Whimsy Stamps. There are some apple orchards already starting their harvest around here and since Chloe is going barefoot I figure she must be picking her bushel of delicious fruit in the late summer too. I paired her up with a mix of prints from my scrap bags, sticking to a red and green color palette to compliment the apples in Chloe's basket.

Ok, I gotta get a move on. Talk at'cha later!  :)

Enjoy your special day...

TGIF everybody!

Today I've got another birthday card for another challenge. This time I'm playing along in the ADFD challenge to 'add sequins'. I grabbed this sweet digi stamp called Little Striped Dress because I thought she would make for a cute birthday card. I also had this piece of striped paper waiting on my desk because I came across it last week while I was straightening up and it looked super summery to me so I had to pair it up with this little girl. I think they look quite nice together.  :)

Alrighty, lets hope that this weekend goes a lot better than the last one did. Fingers crossed for no new fire drama and I shall see ya all on Monday.
Later gators!

Happy Birthday dude...

Olo!

Today I've got a quick card to share for the Farm Fresh 'summertime' challenge over at The Greeting Farm. I chose Summer Ian because this little dude looks like he is making sure he doesn't miss out on any of that summer time fun. I paired him up with some great paper from an older BoBunny collection because I really liked the orange, green and brown color palette. It's quite different from all of the other summer cards I've been making but it still works. When it came time to find a few embellishments to finish off the card I was struggling. I needed something not too girlie or sparkly but metal seemed too heavy and wouldn't work either. I kept thinking that I wished I had a wood tiki mask or something and that is when wood veneers popped into my head. No tiki masks are in my stash but I think that grouping these simple chevron shapes helps direct the gaze to the sentiment and the natural wood grain is a nice fit.

Ok, time for me to go brave the ever present smoke and ash as I get this day started. Have a good one!  :)

Hello, sunshine...

Hello again!

Not a lot has changed around here since yesterday. I think I heard that the fire is about 30% contained but the smoke and ash still hang heavy in the air. I had a brief scare yesterday afternoon when the power went out again and I didn't know how long it would be down this time. Luckily it came back after only 15 minutes or so... whew!

So for my card I colored up Sunny Mae from Some Odd Girl. I'm not sure if she has made it on to a card already or not but this Mae has been stamped up and sitting on my desk for over a year so it was time to do something about that. I also decided to dig through a stack of collection cover sheets and came across one for the Basic Grey Soleil collection... talk about gorgeous! It had a lovely bohemian vibe that suited Mae to a 'T'. I was trying to figure out how to use all the pretty little bits of paper on my card when I spotted this sun burst die cut that has also been sitting on my desk since last summer as well. By cutting and gluing the paper bits behind the die I got a pretty summer gypsy type background for my card. Love it!  :)

Ok folks, that's all I got for today. Talk at'cha later!

Hugs and kisses...

Hey there!

Oy, you are not going to believe the weekend I've had! Remember when I said on Friday that I hoped the storms didn't cause anymore problems? Well I totally jinxed us because early Friday morning about fifty lightening strikes started more fires and these ones where super close to home. By Friday afternoon homes where being evacuated in Chelan as well as the state park and we all lost power and cell phone service. Roads were closed off and on making us feel very isolated. Helicopters and big bomber planes were flown in to drop fire retardant and scoop water out of the lake to fight the blaze. My home wasn't in danger like so many others but the experience was still quite nerve wracking. We were without power until early Sunday morning and the phones finally came back by Sunday afternoon. I didn't get internet back until yesterday, thus my absence here on the blog. Thankfully, none of my extended family who live here in the Chelan valley actually lost their homes though there were a couple close calls. Sadly not everyone in the community where as lucky, last I heard about 21 homes and 100 structures total are gone. As the fires continue to burn the fire fighters and national guard continue to work tirelessly and I am so grateful to the brave men and women who have come to save our town.

I spent some of those powerless day light hours coloring and this fun little Hiilei image from Sister Stamps was one of the stamps that I worked on as well as another cute turtle from the Turtle set. When I went to put them on a card I thought that it kinda looked like he is giving Hiilei a kiss on the cheek which inspired the hugs and kisses sentiment. I gotta say that this card reflects my current desire for some cool, clean water to just wash all this fire and smoke away. ;)

Well, take care everyone... barring any new unforeseen circumstances popping up I will be back with another card tomorrow.
Hugs! :)

Make a wish...

TGIF!

I've got another Bellariffic Friday card to share with you today. This week the challenge was a sketch and I chose Bree Loves Buttercream to be the star of this card. I paired her up with this fun print from Doodlebug that makes it look like I took the time to actually stitch the entire front... love when I can cheat like that, LOL! The paper also gave me a bright, upbeat color palette for Bree and her fabulous cake, which kind of reminds me of the cake the fairies try to make in the Disney Sleeping Beauty cartoon. I did flip the sketch a bit just so that Bree was facing the right way in the design but otherwise I stayed very true to the challenge.

Well, that's a wrap on this week. Hope you all have a great weekend. The forecast says we may be getting a thunderstorm at some point, I just hope it helps put out the current forest fire smoking up the valley rather than starting any new ones.
Laters!  :)

A lovely hello...

Hey there!

I'm back today with the second new digi merbean from The Greeting Farm. Her name is Coralina and she has got such a fun attitude about her, must be that cheeky little wink she is throwing our way. I went with a different color combo compared to my earlier merbean card this week, Coralina being very cool with the purples and dark blue plus I thought it would be fun to try a silver looking fin. I paired her up with this funky print by Heidi Grace because I liked how the circles kinda looked like the tops of jellyfish. As I was putting the card together I realized that Coralina needed someone to be waving hello to and I immediately thought of this cute puffer fish from the Sister Stamps Octopus set. One problem though... he was facing the wrong direction. What to do? Well, I stamped him up, flipped the cardstock over onto my light box and then proceeded to trace the image right there on the back of the cardstock. It was super easy and just like that my puffer fish pal was looking right at Coralina. Success!  ;)

Ta Ta for now!

Oceans of love...

Olo!

So I promised another mermaid card but this time I went with a Kraftin Kimmie image so that I could play along in this week's 'anything goes' challenge. I recently got the Under the Sea set when it was on sale and it was all for this sweet stamp. I adore how the little girl and mermaid are reaching for each other and that each of them have a tiny animal pal to keep them company... tugs at my heart strings. :)
With so much going on in the scene I stuck with a very CAS card design. All I needed was a thin strip of cloud paper up top, a small sentiment and a sprinkle of sequins to pull it all together. Yep, this one really speaks to me... all those summers growing up, wishing for something exactly like this to happen.

OK, gotta jet. Have a good one!

Best fishes...

Hi there!

Well it may not be the month of mermaids around here anymore but when new cuties like Leela MerBean are released I simply can't resist! She is actually one of two new digital mermaids that hit the TGF store this past weekend, which got me very excited. And with only one month of summer left I had to get Leela on a card ASAP. So I grabbed the Fintastic Friends set from Lawn Fawn once again and stamped up some fish to go with her because no one wants a lonely mermaid. The papers are just a random mix from my scrap bags in my absolute favorite color combo... you can't beat orange and aqua in my book!   ;)

Thanks for dropping by and saying hi. I shall be back tomorrow (probably with another mermaid card, LOL).  :)

Thinking of you...

Good morning!

Just a quick card to share this morning using an oldie but a goodie from my stash. This sweet little Swiss Pixie is from the now retired Take a Seat set by CC Designs. I colored her up and put the card together during my crafty get together last Friday because she was a great stamp to show how I mask images together. I think she looks super cute resting on her hope chest, I wonder what she is thinking about? There is a tiny bit of altering done on her shirt. Originally the print was a pair of cherries but that didn't really jive with the yellow and green floral scheme I had going on in the paper so I colored them in to look like little yellow flowers and turned the stem into a couple of leaves. I think the change works in a pinch.

Alrighty, time for me to get the day started.
Later gators!  :)

You lift me up...

TGIF everybody!

It's Bellariffic Friday once again and I am joining the fun with another of my new Stamping Bella stamps. This is Tiny Townie Blossom Loves Balloons and I got a bit creative in how I used the actual stamp. Since Blossom is flying through the air I thought it would be cool to create the illusion that we are watching her through a window as she rises up into the sky. So I stamped the image three times and trimmed each one into a small square, focusing on a different part of the image each time. So first we see the bunch of balloons, then Blossom's sweet little face and finally her toes dangling in the air. Because I had this kind of comic strip looking design going on I went very CAS and omitted any pattern paper that would fuss it up. All I needed was a colorful sentiment and a sprinkling of sequins to fulfill this week's challenge requirement to add either buttons, bows or sequins.

Ok, I'm off for a day of coloring. Have a fabulously fun weekend my crafty peeps!  :)

Sending you hugs...

Olo!

My card today is for this month's 'anything goes' challenge over at The Sugar Bowl. When I sat down at my desk yesterday my kitties decided to be extra helpful. Between knocking stuff off of all the shelves and wanting to stretch out right in the middle of my table you could say I was surrounded by feline inspiration. So I grabbed this super cute Basik Thinking of You stamp from Sugar Nellie, pushed Cosmo to a more convenient part of the desk, and got busy coloring. I paired this kitty up with an older paper by October Afternoon because the floral print played off that bouquet in his arms quite nicely. Of course I then pulled all my colors from the paper as well, I think it is a great color palette for this last month of summer.  :)

Well, have a good one everybody and I shall see ya again tomorrow.

It's your day...

Hello, hello!

Well, no rain yet but we did get a lot of wind yesterday which luckily blew away a lot of the smoke. It's still there when you go outside just not as oppressive as before. I can't tell you how nice it was to finally see patches of blue sky again. :)

My card is a quickie that I put together yesterday. I've had this sweet baby butterfly, from the Penny Black Cute as a Bug set, inked up for some time and there was something summery about her look so I grabbed her up and started to color. I wanted to give her a darker skin tone and everything was going great until my E30 ran out of ink and my blend got all streaky... ugh, I hate when that happens. Not wanting to start all over I refilled my pen and tried to salvage what I had. I'm not 100% happy with the end result because her skin just isn't as smooth as I would like but it was good enough to go on a card. The papers are all from the Studio Calico Sun Drifter collection, which I love, and I couldn't help but sprinkle the white Mister Huey on this card too. That's what happens when things don't get put away and linger on my desk, LOL!

Alrighty, I've got to jet. Talk at'cha later!

My best friend...

Mornin' friends!

Ugh, there is a forest fire blazing up lake... nothing that is threatening us thank goodness but the smoke has been so bad since Friday that it makes being outside just miserable. Seriously, our air quality is currently listed as hazardous which means stay indoors or wear a mask if you have to go out for any length of time. I'm praying for a down pour of rain to help with the situation sooner rather than later... fingers crossed.

As for my card today, I'm playing along in the current A Day for Daisies challenge to 'Add a Feather'. At first I didn't think I would be able to join in on this challenge because I don't have any real feathers. But then I came across this wood veneer feather that I must have gotten in a kit at some point and I was set. All I had to do was find the right digi stamp to go with it. Are you surprised it is an image that doesn't have a single bird in sight? I am, LOL! But when I saw Buddy these two cute pals just spoke to me. That is when the idea to choose a mish mash of embellishments mimicking the "treasures" that might be found in a little boy's pockets came to me. I think it works quite well too because I love how this card turned out, it is definitely a new fave of mine.  ;)

Ta Ta for now!  :)

Hey there...

Hello fellow stampers!

With a new month comes a new challenge over at The Greeting Farm and the theme for August is 'summertime'. I've had my eye on the Summer Anya digital stamp in the store so this challenge provided me with the perfect excuse to finally place a little order. I mean how cute is this Anya with those big ol' shades and her high ponytail? The background was super simple because I just cut into a collection cover sheet that shows samples of all the paper included. So even though it looks like I took the time to find five coordinating patterns and cut them into strips that work was all done for me. I love it when being a crafty pack rat pays off, LOL! ;)

Alrighty then, I've got an early appointment to get to this morning so I'm outta here.
