Deeper than the ocean...

TGIF!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog and I'm closing out MerMay with one more fun under the sea card. I also wanted to shake things up a bit from my usual single layer style of card making and have a play with a couple of the dies from the Hello Bluebird store. The Postage Frame die became the base for so many cute fish from the Sea LifeSea Friends and Sea Sentiments sets and of course I had to throw a sweet mermaid into the mix too. The little rectangle of 'stamps' that you get when you die cut the Postage Frame is always fun to fill with a bunch of smaller stamps but this was the first time that let the images run across the various squares and treated it like one cohesive mini scene.  I started stamping from the bottom up, using Memento Rich Cocoa ink on Copic X-Press It card stock. The hermit crab from the Sea Sentiments set was first so that I could mask him off and add the coral behind him. The rest of the sea critters are a mix of the Sea Life and Sea Friends sets and once they were all in place I grabbed my Copic markers and began coloring. Once the fish were all brought to life I stamped this sweet mermaid with the out stretched arm onto a scrap piece of Copic X-Press It card stock and colored her before fussy cutting her out.

The next step was to begin decorating the card base using the Ocean Floor Slimline die. Once the pieces were die cut I colored them to match the sand, coral and fish in the mini scene and glued them along the bottom of the card. Before gluing the mini postage scene over top the base, I cut the top left 'stamp' apart from the rest of the scene. I then glued the single 'stamp' into the arms of the little mermaid and used foam adhesive to pop them both above the rest of the card. The sentiment that I stamped into the sand is from the Sea Friends set and a sprinkling of clear enamel dots added a bubbly finishing touch to this playful ocean scene.

Laters!

Soak it all in...

Hello again!

The latest Scene Progression Break Down video series wraps up on the Sweet November Stamps Youtube channel today. We went dark and deep for this MerMay themed card. The beautiful mermaid is from the Mermee Emotions set and the thermal vents all around her are from the Background Builder: The Deep set. Over the last five weeks I've been sharing how I created this ocean floor scene with the drama of the bubbling vents framing this joy filled mermaid in a fairly monochromatic color palette. So if you are looking for something to watch on Youtube then be sure to check out all five of the videos in this series. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Where the people aren't...

Hey there!

I'm still getting caught up on sharing cards from all the MerMay Lives that I've done over on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page this month. Today I've got the grumpy mermaid from the Mermee Emotions set that we colored during the review weekend. The first card I made with her, she was down in a sea cave so I wanted to shake things up and color her on the beach this time. I ended up pairing her with the beach fence from the Sea Birds set and of course her grumpy crab had to join this moody gal again. During the course of the Live we decided to have the sky and sea match her stormy mood, going for a more overcast day with plenty of choppy waves. I like how the brighter colors we used on her hair and tail make her look like a little ray of sunshine whether she wants to be or not, LOL!

Ok, gotta run... catch ya later!

Soak up some fun...

Hello!

How about another card from the MerMay clear release weekend of Lives? This long haired little mermaid was the first to be colored up on Sunday morning over on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page. She is one of two mermaids included in the Go with the Flow set along with that cute little otter joining her for a swim. I also added a few extra friends from the Something's Fishy set for a bit of extra color in the scene. The green hair was suggested during the Live and I'm particularly pleased with this combo that we came up with, it definitely reads as a deep, sea green, which really suits her. The sentiment I added after the Live is from the Fairwee Lynn set, which is perfect since they all look like they are having a blast.  :)

Have a good one!

Dive into fun...

Good morning!

How fun is this little mermaid from the Mermaid Vibes by Impronte d'Autore? I picked my set up at Crafty Purple Frog, who has a great selection of Impronte d'Autore clear stamp sets. It was this mermaid's cute diving pose that had me reaching for her first. I could just picture her joyfully leaping out of the water and when I spotted the ship in the Peter and Hook set, it was the perfect backdrop to help set the scene. It's kinda like she is playing hide and seek with the pirates, LOL! The sentiment is from an old My Favorite Things set and I like it because it reinforces the whole diving theme of the card.

Okey dokey, have a good one!
