Warm and cozy wishes...

 Hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today and I really wanted to play with the new Merry Makers stamp set for my post today.  All five of the cute critters included in the set seem to be prepping for the holiday season which got me thinking about how fun it would be to see them busy decorating their home for Christmas. That's when I remembered the awesome Cozy Burrow Scene die and a scene started to form in my head. I quickly grabbed the Cozy Burrow Scene die and ran it through my die cut machine using the Catherine Pooler white card stock that I do my stamping and coloring on. Now, even though the die comes with all of the pieces to create a fireplace, I'm more of a stamper so I grabbed the Cozy Christmas Eve stamp set because it comes with a stamp version of the fireplace. Once I had their space ready I had to decide which Merry Makers to include on this card because there just wasn't enough room to squeeze in all five of them. Ultimately I landed on the two bears and the bunny to occupy this warm and cozy burrow. I stamped and masked them all together before stamping in the fireplace and rug from the Cozy Christmas Eve set.

With everything and everyone in place, it was time to start coloring. Traditional Christmas reds and greens were calling to me so I didn't fight it. I kept the floor and fireplace fairly neutral with the white brick and light wood planks, then warmed up the entire room with red and gold wallpaper and that roaring fire. Because Papa Bear is carrying in the green Christmas tree I made the gifts and rug green as well to create a nice balance of color throughout the scene. Once the burrow scene was complete all that was left to color was the die cut pieces that make up the exterior of the burrow at the top of the card. With the snow, tree and sky all colored up it was time to finally glue the entire scene together and get it on a card base. A few finishing touches, like the falling snow and small sentiment strip added to the mantle and this cozy Christmas card was complete. I gotta say, there is nothing more satisfying than breathing new life into older products just by pairing them with something new... so much fun!  :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Dudley's Christmas Wish...

Hello, hello!

It's time for Christmas digis at Sweet November Stamps and today we've got a fun collection of four digital stamps called, Dudley's Christmas Wish. Now we all know the story of Hermey, the elf who wanted to become a dentist, only to be labeled a misfit right along with his friend Rudolph. Well, Dudley the elf finds himself in a similar predicament as he has dreams of becoming a world renowned dancer. Rather than make the toys in Santa's workshop he loves to turn up the music, grab a dolly and practice the latest dance moves. To showcase his passion for dance the four new digis are: Dudley the Dancing Elf, Dudley and Dolly Tango, Dudley and Dolly Swing Dance and Dudley Takes a Bow.

For my first card, I colored up Dudley and Dolly Tango. I used the wood floor from the Simple Room Background Builder to set the stage for these two and then created the look of a spotlight and bokeh background with the help of a few stencils from My Favorite Things and Pretty Pink Posh respectively. If you are interested in watching this scene come together, there is the short coloring reel of this card over on my Instagram or watch the longer speed coloring video over on our Sweet November Stamps YouTube channel  :)

Next, I colored up Dudley the Dancing Elf and used all of the same tools to create a similar background, just this time in cool blue hues.

At this point the theme was set so Dudley and Dolly Swing Dance got a green bokeh background as they spin around the dance floor.

Finally, Dudley Takes a Bow amidst a glowing gold backdrop and he is happy because the other elves at the North Pole have learned their lesson since the days of teasing Hermey and now they are much more supportive of dancing Dudley and his dreams. :)

Now be sure to check out the Friends of Sweet November Stamps group on Facebook for even more Dancing Dudley fun from the rest of the team. And don't forget, I will be coloring Dudley along with a sneak peek of this month's newsletter freebie, Live today at 11am PST over on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page and I hope to see ya there!

You can also find us on Instagram @sweetnovemberstamps and don't forget to use the #sweetnovemberstamps any time you share a card or project using SN images so we can see all of your beautiful makes!

Holiday hugs...

TGIF!

Yesterday I had fun mixing and matching stamps from the new Snowman Hugs and Snowman Competition sets from Hello Bluebird. When I saw the little bird in both sets I knew that I wanted to pair them together to create this happy winter scene. Cardinals are supposed to bring good luck in the new year so I colored these two in shades of red and black. I really like the idea that they are adding another frosty friend to keep their snowman company and they've been busy collecting all the odds and ends to make that happen. I even inked up the tree stamp from the new Autumn Days set and stamped it a few times in the background to make it look like they are in a meadow. To finish off the card I used the Gallery Frame #4 die on a piece of white card stock that I then airbrushed the edges to match the blue of the snow that I colored in the scene. I also die cut some snowflakes in various sizes using the Frosty Flakes and Paper Snowflakes die sets to jazz up the frame a bit, especially once I made them sparkle using a Wink of Stella clear glitter pen. :)
