I'm here for the candy...

TGIF my friends!

I finally got a chance to create a cute card using the Frightful Nights Halloween Card kit at Hello Bluebird. Sadly, the kit sold out very quickly but hopefully this can be a bit of inspiration to those lucky enough to snag one. This sweet little witchy mouse is from the Fright Mice set and I wanted to have her be the star of her own mini slimline card. First I stamped the mouse along with a bunch of the candy that is also included in set, before masking them all off. Then I used the Light of the Moon die (also sold out) with a transparency sheet to create a moon stencil that I then laid onto the card front and used my Copic airbrush system to color in the night sky and the moon itself. I also used the clouds and bats in the die set to embellish the rest of the card and give me a place to add the sentiment. I just love how whimsical and sweet this turned out.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Tomb it may concern...

Hello, hello!

It's kinda hard to believe that we are wrapping up yet another Scene Progression Break Down video series over on the Sweet November Stamps Youtube channel today. This one focused on creating an eerie mist filled background that also enshrouds the stamped character. In this case, that character was SN Guy Baron and when I stamped him onto the card I purposefully swiped some of the ink off the stamp in certain places to help create a softer look here and there. I also added the Spookville Horizon Lines for the background because the only thing spookier than a graveyard is a mist filled graveyard... LOL!

Alrighty, well all five weeks of this video series are now available, so if you wanna check out how this all came together you know were to go.

Have a spooktacular day!  :)

I believe in you...

Olo!

I just realized that I haven't shared the card that I made for the August Pen Pal Swap that DT member, Allison hosts in the Friends of Sweet November Stamps Facebook group each month. The theme was to use any of the animal clear or digi stamps in the store and I ended up reaching for the sweet unicorns in the I Believe in You clear set. Because I've colored them up in lots of pretty pink and purple pastels in the past, this time around I was inspired by the colors of the Fall season. It was fun creating the pretty ombre in her mane and tail and I can just imagine this mythical creature helping to usher in the changing of the seasons. :)

Ok, gotta run. Hope your week is going well!

Colorado Craft Company Stamptember exclusive...

Hey there!

I'm so excited to be sharing the Colorado Craft Company Stamptember exclusive set at Simon Says Stamp today. It is called Work of Art and it features two creative foxes by the artist Anita Jeram. I thought it would be fun to have the larger of the two painting a beautiful mural on a brick wall, using the floral stamp that is also included in the Work of Art set. After I had everything stamped and masked, I used the Distress Brick stencil from Honey Bee Stamps with the Copic airbrush system to add the perfect wall for these foxes to graffiti. Once the masks were removed I was able to color the rest of the scene by hand. I just love how these cute critters are doing their part to make the world a more beautiful place.  :)

Now, there are always a limited number of SSS Stamptember exclusive sets and once they sell out they are gone for good so don't wait too long to check it out in the Stamptember Collaboration section.

Toodles!

Warm memories...

Hello!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird Blog today and I’m so excited that the new September Card Kit and Halloween Card Kit are both available in the Hello Bluebird store. I've got a card to share today using the super cute Fall Clean Up Crew stamp set that you can get in either the Classic Kit or the Expanded Kit. This large 6x8 set is full of adorable woodland critters, dressed in their denim and cozy flannels, busily raking up all of the Fall leaves and bringing in the pumpkin harvest. With so many cuties to choose from in this set, I finally landed on two of the squirrels, one raking and the other carrying a pumpkin, along with the fox pushing a wheelbarrow full of leaves. To build this industrious scene I began by stamping the raking squirrel and smaller pumpkin first, using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I then masked them before adding the larger pumpkin, which I actually borrowed from the Nuts For Fall set that can be found in the Expanded September kit. From there I continued to work my way back, stamping and masking until I added the last pile of leaves behind the squirrel with the pumpkin.

Once I removed all of the masks I was left with this cute layout of characters and I could begin coloring it all in using Copic markers. I started by sketching in some Birch tree trunks by hand so that all of those leaves had somewhere to come from. The choice of Birch trees also led me to color all of the leaves in golden yellow tones as well as matching the hedge line of distant trees in the same colors. This automatically gives the card a decidedly autumnal feel. With all of the warm oranges and yellows making up the background, I chose to give each of the critters an article of blue clothing to help them stand out through that natural contrast. Once the scene was all colored up I used the Nesting Deckle A2 die to cut it out before layering it onto dark brown card stock and finally the light yellow card base. The sentiment was stamped on the same brown card stock using white embossing powder, which I then trimmed into a simple pennant shape and popped up using foam adhesive.

All I can say is I wish I was this happy when doing yard work, LOL! Laters!
