Jumbo hugs...

Hello crafty peeps!

There is a brand new release from Julian Charlton that just hit the shelves at Purple Onion Designs today. These adorable off beat characters lend themselves to CAS designs and quick but still supercute cards in such a wonderful way. I was inspired to forego my usual scenic style coloring and work with a more limited color palette with these sweet Elliot and Marcel images. So I created a note set and practiced more of the faux watercolor background technique with each one. I chose warm pinks for Elliot and Marcel Hugs to capture all those loving feelings, Elliot and Marcel feeling blue was a total no brainer and Elliot and Marcel Confetti Celebration got decked out in sunny yellow since it is the happiest color. Keeping the card design very clean and simple, with only a small sprinkling of embellishments along with the black and white really lets these images take center stage. I gotta say it was fun stepping outside of my creative comfort zone and simply play with color in a very paired down way. :)

For more new release inspiration be sure to check out the Purple Onion blog, where the entire team has really knocked this one out of the park!

Wow! These are awesome! I'd love to see how you did the background. I know you said with Copics, and it looks like alcohol ink backgrounds, but how did you get the images inside?
