A happy hello...

Good morning!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break. I sure did, and now I'm ready to kick off 2018 at 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store with this winter cutie from CC Designs. This little guy is part of the Roberto's Rascals Snowman Kids set and all four are just as cute as can be. I had a hard time choosing which one to ink up first but something about his shy wave caught my eye. Using a simple window die and some old snowflake paper from my stash I was able to create a clean and simple design for my snow kid to inhabit. I also took my cues from the blue paper and kept the color scheme fairly monochromatic. I like how it all came together to capture a snippet of a sweet winter wonderland scene. :)

Alrighty, there is still a week left to play along in the December "anything goes challenge". So make that new year resolution to get crafty and head on over to the 7 Kids blog for a chance to win the $20 gift certificate!

Delight in little things...

TGIF!

Today I am wrapping up my 2017 cards with another design team post for Dreamerland Crafts. This beautiful girl is called, Spreading the Good News, and while the original image has her blowing leaves I thought she would be cute for a more winter themed card. So I wiped away the ink from the leaves before stamping, leaving that space blank. Next I colored her up in some pretty winter blues and purples. And then I tackled the background... I was envisioning one of our local parks that sits right along the lake and has a little bridge connecting one half of the park to the other. I wanted Good News to be stopped on that bridge with the trees on one side and the water on the other with the freshly fallen snow covering everything. Last but not least I used a white gel pen to draw in a swirl of cold and snow for her to be blowing instead of the leaves. I think the end result turned out quite magical, if I do say so myself. It's always good to end the year on a card I'm really happy with, makes me feel confident and upbeat about where my creative journey will go in 2018. :)

Have a happy new year my friends!

Winter Wishes...

Hello, hello!

Ah, it's good to be back after this little break for the holiday. As busy as I've been with both work and play it was nice being able to ease back into coloring and card making with an image that I had already colored up. Back at the beginning of the month Some Odd Girl ran a 12 Days of Coloring challenge in their Facebook group and I had a blast playing along. One of the images got made into a Christmas card so now I have eleven other colored images ready to go on cards in the coming year. This gorgeous Winter Spirit digi is one of them and with the below freezing temps we are currently 'enjoying' in my neck of the woods, I thought getting her on a card now would be quite appropriate. I had a lot of fun coloring her up in cool, icy hues and even gave her skin tone a bluish cast. I decided to also color in a frozen winter meadow below her and added a trail of snowflakes beneath her using the Fairy Dust stamp from Neat and Tangled to give the appearance that she is flying over the land spreading winter's icy touch. I think it all came together to create a lovely winter card. :)

Ok, see ya tomorrow!

Blerg!

Sorry folks, I have a card but no post to share today. My ten year old DSLR camera decided to go kapoot on me so I can't take any pics. I did order a new one with a promise of two day delivery so things should be back to normal around the ol' blog in no time. Until then, keep it crafty! :)
