Made for each other...

Good morning!

Saturday was a review at Sweet November Stamps and for my Live over on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page I wanted to finally color some of the Halloween Postage Pals. All of my pre-stamped scenes with them had too much coloring to be manageable for a Live so I needed to get creative and find a way to use a couple of the costumed cuties outside of the postage theme. That's when I had the idea to pair Frankenstein's Monster from the Halloween Postage Pals: Landscape set and the Bride of Frankenstein from the Halloween Postage Pals: Portrait set with a window from the older Simple Room Autumn Add-on set. I had to do a bit of strategic inking to open the windows and then I added the jack o'lantern and spider web from the Front Porch Halloween Decor set for extra Halloween pizazz. We even got to pull out the Copic air brush system and use it with a brick stencil to quickly create the outside of their apartment building. After the Live I printed out the sentiment from the computer and added some Halloween colored enamel stars to complete this spooky sweet scene. I'm so pleased with how this one came together.  :)

Have a great week!

Practical magic...

Hello again!

It's a review weekend at Sweet November Stamps and I had to make a scene happen using both of the SN Gals Owens Sisters together on one card before spooky season comes to a close. Of course I had to have the movie playing while I colored, both for inspiration on their dresses and just immersing myself into their magical world. Never mind that Practical Magic is one of my all time favorite movies and I tend to watch it at least once a year, LOL! In the background the Front Porch Background stamp works really well as that amazing house from the movie and since it is a white house, it was pretty quick to color up.

I will be coloring more Halloween cuteness during my Live later this morning at 11am PDT. Hope you can join me!

Toodles!

Spell-tacular...

Hello, hello!

We are less than a week away from Halloween night so I've got one more magical card for today's Scenic Saturday post on the Bellarific blog. How about a trip to the wizarding world with this Tiny Townie Wizard in Training with Owl leading the way.

I wanted to create a simple scene for the Tiny Townie Wizard in Training with Owl that was monochromatic, so that this young wizard would stand out at a glance, but still tell a bit of the story. A spooky castle staircase winding away behind him ended up being the perfect way to achieve those goals. I used a mix of grey markers from all four of the Copic grey color families to achieve a more organic stone look on the walls and stairs. Combined with the black and grey tones in his uniform, those gold and maroon house colors certainly 'pop'. The postage frame die combined with postage theme accents make this enchanting scene just right for some owl mail. The sentiment that completes the card is from the Wicked Words Sentiment set and I think it was made just for these magic wielding Tiny Townies from the holiday release :)

Stay crafty my friends!

Under your spell...

TGIF!

I was so excited to see that The Greeting Farm is expanding its witchy line of Anyas this year with Wicked Anya 2. This newest addition is looking quite modern and cute with her fabulous curls and punk princess ensemble. That doesn't mean she can't work real magic though, because she comes with everything you need to create the perfect spell room. I did some masking to have Wicked Anya stand directly behind her bubbling cauldron and also sketched in a stand for her spell book and a shelf for her potion ingredients. I went bright and colorful with her clothing and even gave her spell room a lighter color palette to really play up her modern wiccan charm. All I can say it that I hope we see another addition from TGF next year, kind of like the Holiday Anya series.   :)

Have a great weekend!
