Holiday cheer...

Good morning! 

I'm sharing a card today that I colored Live over on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page during the Joyful Gatherings clear release weekend. This adorable mouse and his gingerbread friend are from the new Hug in a Mug set and they are bringing the sweetness to this Christmas season. The color suggestions that came in during the Live took us in a kind of vintage Christmas vibe with the cranberry reds and olive greens. Once the image was all colored up I masked them off and used a background stamp to add the tablecloth that they are resting on. The end result is a warm and cozy card that is as sweet as a cup of hot cocoa.

Son of a nutcracker!

It's a review weekend at Sweet November Stamps and the team and I are continuing to showcase the new Joyful Gatherings clear release. For my card today I've stamped the NutcrackerTrio onto a mini slimline card front along with the decorative candy canes from the Front Porch Christmas Decor set. I wanted it to lok like they are decorating a fireplace mantle so once they were all colored up I masked them off and used a bunch of winter greenery stamps from my stash to add the pine boughs and berries behind them. I also did a bit of air brushing at the base of the boughs to deepen the green color and better contrasting with the 'fake snow' space that I left at their feet. I think they look like they are ready to come to life on Christmas Eve and battle the rat king, LOL!   :)

Sending you a joyful jingle...

I'm over on the Bellarific blog with another Christmas card for this week's Scenic Saturday post. I have always had a soft spot for the sweet little Bundle Girls and as soon as I saw this Bundle Girl Sending a Letter to Santa it was love at first sight.

The Bundle Girl Sending a Letter to Santa image finds this cozy cutie at the mailbox sending a letter to Santa up at the North Pole. Perched atop the mailbox is a curious cardinal taking in the scene. While this stamp is nice and large and can certainly tell the story all on its own, I thought it would be fun to pair Bundle Girl Sending a Letter to Santa with the older Winter Woodland Backdrop. After masking the mailbox and Bundle Girl I positioned the backdrop at the top of the card front. Before stamping it I wiped the ink off of the path running through the center of the scene, leaving an open snowy field in that space instead. The snowy scenery is pretty quick to color and creates a light and rather neutral backdrop so that the festive reds and greens of Bundle Girl's winter wear really stand out. I also added some ric rac trim to her coat to mimic the ric rac die that I used to frame the scene. Once again I found a great sentiment in the Be Merry Sentiment set and I stamped it right in the center of the snowy landscape. I'm really happy with how these stamps came together into a sweet Christmas story.  :)
