Winter wonderland...

Hello!

I'm back with a new Scenic Saturday card over on the Blogabella. It's time to shift into Christmas card making and I've had this darling Tiny Townie Maisie Goes Gift Shopping already stamped up and waiting to get colored since her release last year so I didn't want to make her wait any longer.

I started by masking Maisie and then stamping the Christmas Village Backdrop over top so that once the mask was removed, the village appears off in the distance behind her. I colored Maisie's stylish winter wear in cool blue and soft cream tones then made her pretty packages pop with the classic reds, greens and golds of the Christmas season. Next, I used cool greys to sketch in a path from the village all the way to the front of the scene. To get the perspective right you want to make sure that you start with a very thin line of color and gradually widen it, creating the illusion of the path getting closer to the viewer. With the path in place, using light blues and greys to shade the snow covered ground adds even more dimension within this winter wonderland. Neutral colors on the houses and eye catching evergreens complete the coloring while a gentle snowfall using a white gel pen ties it all together. The sentiment is from the Winter Sentiment set and I stamped it using red ink to visually tie back to Maisie's gift bags.
