Some Winter bling

Hi-dee ho crafty peeps (please scroll down for the SN Birthday Fairwee winners)!

This weekend is the start of an annual Fire&Ice festival here in town and I've gotta say that there isn't a whole lot in the way of snow and ice this year. I don't know how well the ice sculptures are going to hold up but I do think it is cold enough for the brave polar bear swimmers to still get quite a shock, LOL! I'll be working, so no dip in the lake for me... not that I'd be crazy enough to do it even if I wasn't! ;)

Speaking of ice and all things that glitter and sparkle... there is a new challenge up over on the SOG blog, the very first of 2012 in fact. And we are ringing in this new year with lots of BLING! That’s right. Bling. You know you love it. We certainly love it and we want to see a lot of bling... at least 2 different types used on your card or project. Options include, but are not limited to: pearls, rhinestones, stickles, loose glitter, foil, embossed foil, misting, glaze... the list goes on!

I used the lovely Winter Mae digi stamp once again because I could totally see her walking through an icy winter wonderland full of sparkling snow and ice... perfect for a blingy challenge. And I even did a couple of coloring videos with Mae as well that can be seen here and here or over on the CMC blog. Because some of the colors in the paper were a bit tricky to color match with my Copics, this also was a good opportunity to kind of share my process in how I mix colors and come up with marker combos. Just in case you are interested in checking that out as well. :)

Ok, time for me to scoot my boot.

Stay classy San Diego!

Party Time Lucy

TGIF my friends!

With all of the Fairwee fun going on around here this week I didn't get a chance to share this new Swiss Pixie Lucy yet, which is a shame because she is SO darn cute! Now if you ask me, the Swiss Pixies are always adorable but Party Time Lucy has quickly become my new favorite of the bunch. :)

Considering all of the super bright colors and papers that I was using on the various fairwee cards I thought it would be cool to go with a soft and understated color palette on Lucy instead. The lovely bunting and gingham papers from October Afternoon's Farmhouse paper pad were just what I needed. I know that I've said before that I'm not a huge fan of the color grey but it is slowly growing on me... in small doses, that is! I'm diggin' it on Lucy any way. ;)

Party Time Lucy and all the rest of the ATS January release are now available in the ATS store and if you hurry, there are still a few more hours to try and win them all over on the ATS blog. It's quite the way to kick off the new year, don'tcha think?

Well, I suppose I should go get ready for the day... have a great one everybody!

Party like a Fairwee!

Good morning!

Are you ready to once again travel back into Sweet November Land? I hear that we will be just in time for a very special party. Luckily, those smallest of the small inhabitants of SN Land, the Fairwees, are the best party planners around and they have gone all out for this celebration! :)

So we've followed Piper's directions and have just about made it through the thick strand of birch trees... hopefully she wasn't playing another prank on us. Though as we near the clearing something tells me we are in the right place. There are dancing lights flickering and floating through the air but just before we can get our first good look at the scene, a wee little ball of energy comes zooming up and showers us with a burst of sparkling fairy dust and colorful confetti! Why, it's Mia! Boy, is she going to town with that confetti but she is so excited that we've finally arrived at the 'surprise' party. Talk about it being worth the wait... all of the balloons, presents, cupcakes and Fairwees are here in this picturesque clearing. There's only one question, how is this a 'surprise' party when we've been searching for it all along?

Here's some candy while we contemplate that... ;)

The Mia's Confetti candy kit includes; one Sweet November Mia's Confetti rubber stamp, ten 6x6 sheets of KI Memories paper, small Inkadinkado acrylic stamp, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, decorative stick pins, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card
Luckily for us Jilly comes strolling by on her way to place another glowing candle on one of the many delicious cupcakes. She happily tells all of us that the 'surprise' is that this is a party for everyone... whether we are celebrating a birthday, half-birthday or non-birthday! So let's enjoy the sweet treats and play a party game or two because the fun is just beginning. :)

Oh, and Jilly has some candy to share too...

The Jilly's Candle candy kit includes; one Sweet November Jilly's Candle rubber stamp, ten 6x6 sheets of Echo Park paper, small Studio G acrylic stamp, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, decorative stick pins, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card.

All you have to do for a chance to win the candy is leave a comment on this post. If you link to the candy on your own blog that is great and much appreciated but not a requirement... I want everyone to be able to play along. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone. I will ship the candy anywhere in the world so everyone is encouraged to play! :)

The candies will stay open through Friday, January 6th and I will announce the winners on Saturday, January 7th. And just so you know... all of the new January stamps will be available for purchase on Friday at the ATS store.

Be sure to flit on over to all the Sweet November Gals' blogs 'cause this party is just getting started! Marion, Nancy and Rachel have all got wonderful birthday inspiration to share with you! :)
Once again... instead of using random generator I will be printing out names and tossing them in a hat SO if you leave comments for the SN gals on their blogs, you will get an extra name in the hat for each one that you do... this will up your chances of winning the candy... fun, fun, fun! :)

And while the party is still hoppin' we've got to call it a wrap on this final day of January SN previews. I hope you had as much fun getting to the party as I did... thanks so much for stopping by today! Oh! And don't forget to hop on over to the ATS blog today for even more chances to win these newest Fairwees!

Just a quick peek... there might be candy!

Hey there!

Are you ready to once again travel back into Sweet November Land? I hear that we will be just in time for a very special party. Luckily, those smallest of the small inhabitants of SN Land, the Fairwees, are the best party planners around and they have gone all out for this celebration! :)

Well the sweet scent of those cupcakes still lingers in the air but it looks like we are going to have to find our own way to this Fairwee special surprise party. Let's follow the babbling brook and see if it leads us in the right direction. "Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Heads up! Is that Fairwee Daphne swooping down at the end of that bunch of balloons? She looks like she's a bit out of control and could use some help. Grab her quick but be gentle and don't pop any of her balloons (we don't want a repeat of the cupcake incident...). Daphne is quite relieved and grateful for our help as she was indeed being carried away on the breeze. Now is the perfect time to ask her for directions because Daphne is known to have a terrible time keeping secrets anyway. Oh no! She's lifting off again high up into the sky... you didn't happen to catch what she was saying did you? Drat!

But don't despair because Daphne did leave a bit of candy in her wake... take a look-see...
The Daphne's Balloons candy kit includes; one Sweet November Daphne's Balloons rubber stamp, ten 6x6 sheets of Bella Blvd paper, small Technique Tuesday acrylic stamp, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, decorative stick pins, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card.
Hmmm, I'm thinking we must be heading in the right direction... just listen to the birds singing in the trees... their tune sounds a lot like the Happy Birthday song to me! Oh and look! There is a tiny little present, and another one, and another one... it's like a happy little trail of gifts! Do we dare open one just for a quick peek? I wonder what is inside that one with the pretty wrapping paper and big pink bow? Suddenly the lid pops up and wee Piper jumps out shouting, "Surprise!". I think that a few of us had a bit of a start because Piper is in a fit of giggles from the reaction she got. What a little scamp! Luckily for us, once she calms down, Piper tells us that we are getting very close to the party now... it's just through those birch trees! Come on, we should hurry!

Oh but don't forget to grab some of that Piper candy before we go, did you see it?

The Piper's Surprise candy kit includes; one Sweet November Piper's Surprise rubber stamp, ten 6x6 sheets of Heidi Grace paper, small Studio G acrylic stamp, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, decorative stick pins, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card.

We've got a Wee li'l party going on...

Hello everybody!

Are you ready to once again travel back into Sweet November Land? I hear that we will be just in time for a very special party. Luckily, those smallest of the small inhabitants of SN Land, the Fairwees, are the best party planners around and they have gone all out for this celebration! :)

As we make our way once again through the now familiar glen, there is an air of excitement in everything around us. It's hard not to grow anxious as we keep walking with no sign of our wee friends anywhere. Just before we turn around in frustration to try another path we hear the happy humming of a sweet little voice and spot our tiny friend Emaline toting a pile of pretty packages down the lane. We ask her if she would like any help with her gifts but she insists that she's just fine. It's obvious that she is heading to the party so we ask if she would mind giving us directions to the big shin-dig. Emaline only giggles and tells us that it is a surprise party sillies... then in a blink of an eye the li'l will o' the wisp has disappeared!

But before she left Emaline did leave us some sweet candy to be won... take a look...

The Emaline's Gifts candy kit includes; one Sweet November Emaline's Gifts rubber stamp, ten 6x6 sheets of October Afternoon paper, small Studio G acrylic stamp, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, decorative stick pins, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card.
Hmmm... a surprise party eh? This is quite intriguing! Apparently the surprise is going to be on us but what do we do now? Perhaps we can listen for another clue? Did you hear anything? Me either... but wait! What is that delicious smell wafting on the breeze? It smells like chocolate and vanilla... yum! Looks like we will be following our noses for this next leg of our journey, LOL! Over the hill and through the trees we go as the delectable scent grows ever stronger. Over there! It's our wee pal Josie and she is just putting the finishing touches of sparkling sugar and candy coated decorations on the yummiest looking platter of mini cupcakes that we have ever seen. Surely sweet little Josie will help us find our way to the party. But someone (I'm not pointing any fingers, ahem...) couldn't resist trying to sample a chocolatey treat early and just like that, she, and the cupcakes, have all disappeared as well. Sigh...

But all is not lost as there is some sweet as can be Josie candy to be had... check it out...

The Josie's Cupcake candy kit includes; one Sweet November Josie's Cupcake rubber stamp, ten 6x6 sheets of DCWV paper, small Daisy Bucket acrylic stamp, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, ribbon, twine, buttons, Making Memories die cuts, four envelopes, four card blanks and my card.

Sweet November Spotlight on Marion!

Hello, hello!

Well folks, it's a brand new year and with that comes some brand new
Sweet November previews for January. But before we start that party I want to shine the Sweet November spotlight on the newest full-time SN Gal... Marion van Eijsden! While Marion technically joined us with last month's release, I didn't get a chance back then to well and truly give her the introduction that she so deserves. :)

Marion is an amazing colorist, not only with Copic markers but also colored pencils. As a crafter and cardmaker she isn't afraid to experiment and try out different techniques to enhance her designs. Marion's eye for embellishing is rich and eclectic but always thoughtful in how to best enhance whatever stamp she is pairing them with. She's definitely a girl who loves her paper and products just as much as her stamping... something that I can totally relate to, LOL!

Now it's time for Marion to answer the Sweet November questionnaire... which I always look forward to reading!

1) What color do feel represents your personality and why?
My favorite colors are Pink and Red... and I love to combine them. I have them both combined in my home decorations and I just love, love it. The Red is my outgoing and happy side and the Pink is my soft and gentle side. And together they are well balanced.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?
Oh my… I think it is… I don’t think that I have a specific style in card making. I try to make a card according to my feeling that I get from the day, papers and stamp. My home is styled according to what I love and not to what is Hot. But most people that come here love the way my house looks and feels.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?
Only one thing???? Pffff… Crafting, my cats and nowadays… my assistance dog Sjors. Who has a great sense of feeling my mood and giving me the comfort that I need.

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?
The time of King Arthur and Camelot and most of all I would love to meet Merlin!

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why?
I would love to be a fairy… I once edited my face to a digital stamp of a fairy… giggle… but with my real size… no chance I will ever look like one. Perhaps I should ask Amy to make a chubby fairy?? I would love that!!

Bonus question
6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?
That is simple, I think that would be Artie. I’m disabled too and still live in the middle of the world and don’t let my handicap get in my way!!!!

Awesome answers Marion... I would so be standing in line with you to meet Merlin, LOL! ;)

Now take a look at the gorgeous card featuring Adorn D. Yard that Marion created. The depth of color that she achieved on this image is beyond amazing... move over Frosty because this snowgal has come to life! And the layers of papers and textures support the lovely scene perfectly. For my CASE of Marion's card, I chose Winter Kid Tess to play with in a very non-winter setting. I followed her over-all layout design very closely because the off set layers aren't something that I normally do but I loved the look. And the embellishment cluster down in the corner was a real nice balance to the main image. :)

Ok, so tomorrow Marion, Nancy, Rachel and myself are going to get this party started! Yep, the January release is shaping up to be quite a celebration so you will not want to miss the Sweet November sneak peek week!

See ya then!
