You make me blush...

Good morning!

Well we are rolling right along with the Sweet November February release and during this two day celebration I always do Live coloring videos in the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook group. This second card featuring the new Big Hugs digital stamp is the result of yesterday's Lives. We had so much fun coloring up these two lovable fairies, picking out colors and creating a beautiful world for them to live in. Even the addition of the lipstick kiss on his cheek was a suggestion from a viewer and I couldn't love it more! The interaction with fellow crafters and colorists is always the best part for me. And how can you not love it when the end results turn out this cute? So if you haven't joined us yet at 7 Kids, come on over! Sweet November Spotlight on Marcy!

Hello friends!

It's sure been awhile since I was organized enough to have a SN Guest Gal during release time. Which makes me all the more excited to shine the Sweet November Guest Gal spotlight on a stellar colorist and card maker who is relatively new to the blogging world. She is also someone  who I've been lucky enough to color with in person... please say a happy hello to Marcy Longosky!

As I mentioned, Marcy and her family vacation in my neck of the woods each summer and the two of us have gotten together a couple of times to play with our Copics. Since our first meet up a couple years ago, Marcy has really taken off with this fun hobby we all share. She has been Copic certified not once but twice and she has become an in-demand Copic instructor over on the west side. Just one look at her work and you will see why! Marcy is so fun and totally passionate about card making which is why I am super excited to have her joining us for this release! :)

Now it's time for Marcy to answer the Sweet November questionnaire... which I always look forward to reading! 

1) What color do you feel represents your personality and why?  
Probably lime green!  I love lime green.  I have a lime green cover for my phone, my purse is green and my craft studio is green.  Lime green is so light and bright and loud and seems to smile all the time, which is what people say about me.  They say I have a fun personality.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making? 

Not at all!  Since I lost my "real" job 2 years ago I no longer have to dress up every day so I dress in my happy clothes (shorts, t-shirts, etc).  My house decor is, let's just say...... lived in. Nothing fancy here!  My cards on the other hand...I love making them into masterpieces.  I have had many people say "this is a piece of art" about my cards.  I love adding embellishments, such as flowers, glitter, ribbons and charms!

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood? 

Coloring with my Copic markers!  But in reality my family does!  When one of them comes home and has had a good day or something good has happened it immediately puts me in a good mood.

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be? 

I would love to go back to the '70's.  I was there once but as a kid.  I loved the music...still do. Things were much simpler then, without all the electronics and 24 hour society.  I think we have gotten lost in all of this electronic world and would love to see us get back to a "family comes first" society.  Besides all that heavy stuff, the music was awesome, the colors and clothes were amazing!

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why? 
Absolutely a fairy!  I would love to fly around and sprinkle glitter on everyone!  Fairies are so beautiful on the outside, I can't imagine what they must feel like on the inside!  I would hope to have magical powers so I could grant wishes too! 

Check out the stunning card that Marcy created featuring Snowflake Fairy Neva. To say that I am wowed by her coloring skills would be an understatement. The depth and richness of color that Marcy achieves is absolutely inspiring! Even with the monochromatic color scheme she is able to create tons of visual interest through the clever layering of the background papers and accents. Marcy's card looks as if Neva has brought the year's first frost, creating a magical ice garden for her to call home... I love it so much! For my CASE of Marcy's card I stayed pretty true to her overall layout design. Though I couldn't resist going a bit crazy with all of the colors. It made sense to me though, since I chose to color up Fairwee Mia's ornament whose bulb is hanging on the limb of that Basic Grey Christmas tree. And Christmas trees are always full of bright lights and color. :)

Sweet November spotlight on Tress

Hello my friends!

Can you believe it is already time to start previewing the new Sweet November stamps for July? Time sure is flying... it seems like it was just spring planting time and now here we are with summer full upon us and it is time to start doing some harvesting. But before we get our hands dirty I want to shine the Sweet November Guest Gal spotlight on a very special friend and fellow card maker whom I have gotten to know through emails these past couple of years. And when she recently started her own blog I couldn't wait to have her join this release... please say hello to Tress Smyth!

Tress is a Copic queen with major coloring skills. She really knows how to bring an image to life. Her card designs are fresh and fun and Tress has a knack for picking papers and accents that never overwhelm but always perfectly support the main focus of her cards. She is a real storyteller with her cards which is something that I totally respond to. Tress' taste in images is delightfully eclectic but she does have a love of fairies and has been a long time supporter of Sweet November's magical inhabitants.  :)

Ok, so now it's time for Tress to answer the Sweet November questionnaire... which I always look forward to reading!

1) What color do you feel represents your personality and why?

Green!  To me, green represents growth/life, and it allows other colors to stand out when it is used as a backdrop.  Green can provide balance and stability to other colors.  I'm not one to seek the spotlight, but rather enjoy being a strategist who can design plans for others.  I crave learning...continued growth.  This venture of card making and blogging is a new experience for me.  Typically, I'm more logic driven, rather than creative, but I'm trying to develop new skills.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?

Yes, I think so.  I like light bright colors, flowers, and a casual not too fussy look!  You won't find much beige, brown, black, or muted shades in my wardrobe or my house.  My craft room/guest room is blue and white with floral accents everywhere (along with a few fairies tucked in here and there).  In my living room some of the furniture you'll see includes a denim sofa, a large floral chair and a half (my throne, lol), an ottoman used as a coffee table, an antique side table, an 1800's bookcase, and a contemporary wall unit that houses hubby's LARGE television...which I must admit I've learned to appreciate. :)  White tee shirts and capris or shorts in all the colors of the rainbow are my standard dress.  My cards also tend to be colorful and not too embellished.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?

My husband's smile.  Yes, very corny, but so very true.  His smile lights up a room and makes any darkness or sadness dissipate.  I know I can count on him to be there to support me and try to make any situation better.  Even when I'm angry with him, he knows all he has to do is smile, and I have a difficult time staying upset.  What an unfair advantage!  ;)    

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?

Gosh, this question is difficult to answer.  There are so many periods in time where people were expanding the boundaries of knowledge and creativity.  I suppose, based on conversations I've had with individuals, I'd say the Roaring Twenties.  During my college years, I had the pleasure of spending time with several women who were young adults during the Twenties.  They told their stories with such zeal, recalling lives full of fun, excitement, and passion.  Their eyes sparkled as they talked about long summer days, dance halls, prohibition, politics, love, and fashion.  I'd enjoy seeing these women in their heyday!

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why? 

Definitely a fairy!  I'd love to fly under my own power and live in and amongst the flowers.  Being a darker fairy rather than a cherubic faced pixie would be my choice.  Although I also like the style of fairy shown in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman...shimmery and almost transparent.

6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?

Sorry Amy, never watched the show.  But I do have both Christmas cds!  :)

Now, check out the gorgeous card that Tress created using the Princess Ilyse stamp. Her coloring is positively dreamy and Ilyse looks so serene and regal all decked out in those beautiful shades of purple that Tress used. And that single sheet of pattern paper creates the perfect scene for this lovely princess... I just love how it looks like she is resting beneath a wisteria tree in full bloom. So when it was time for me to CASE Tress' card I knew that I wanted to create a single sheet scene for a princess as well. So I pulled out Lilliane and colored her up. But in my entire stash of paper I couldn't find anything that I liked. So I had to get a bit creative and ended up stamping a simple scene for her instead using a castle stamp on slightly patterned paper and just a hint of color added to give it some interest. In the end it was just what Lilliane needed.

Sweet November Spotlight on Erin!

Hello friends!

It's time to start previewing the new Sweet November stamps for June! But before we start catching some rays I want to shine the Sweet November Guest Gal spotlight on a fabulously fun paper crafter whom I actually first came across while watching YouTube videos. Please give a warm welcome to Erin New!

Erin isn't just a talented card maker, she is also an awesome scrapper and fabulous creator of altered home dec items... she's a real triple threat! ;)
As a stamper Erin colors beautifully with colored pencils and there is a playfulness and humor to much of her work which I adore. She is so full of creativity... in fact, it was Erin who inspired a couple of the new stamps that you will be seeing this week. Erin has also been quite the shopping enabler with her haul videos too. There have been a few different products she has tempted me to try out and she hasn't steered me wrong yet, LOL! I am just totally inspired by her in so many different ways and I'm excited to have Erin joining us for this release! :)

Now it's time for Erin to answer the Sweet November questionnaire... which I always look forward to reading! 

1) What color do you feel represents your personality and why?

BLUE. First of all blue is my favorite color, but I feel it represents me in that it is calming. I've always been told I have a very calming voice (or maybe that's just my DH's excuse for falling asleep when I talk to him, LOL). And to me it's a very cheerful color, I have always been the type of person to try and lighten the mood and make people laugh.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making? 

My card making style is actually very different from my clothing and home decor styles. When it comes to cards I like to use LOTS of color..the brighter the better! But for my wardrobe/home decor I go for more neutral colors with a little color here and there.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?

Definitely my hubby. I am a SAHM and sometimes when my kids have brought me to my wits end... the hubbs comes home and always makes me laugh and keeps a lighter mood about all the chaos.


4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be? 

This is a tough one... I'd like to say the Victorian Era simply because they had so many beautiful things LOL, but I think I'd have to pick the 1950s... it just seems like such a fun/innocent time.

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why? 

Fairy for sure. Just the thought of being really tiny and being able to fly around is awesome.

6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with? 

I have actually never seen a single episode of Glee... I know shame on me. =)

Take a look at the totally adorable Christmas card that Erin created featuring Snow Flurry Emaline. Her coloring is just fantastic and I love the slightly non-traditional color combo that she chose to use. The energy that the striped background lends to the over all design is really fantastic and the large circular frame creates a great white space that pops off the busy paper perfectly. For my CASE of Erin's card I chose to use Treasure Tempestwind and her pal Eddy.   I didn't stray too far from her overall design but I couldn't resist adding in a few more embellishments... what can I say, I'm addicted to pearls! And I'm hoping that those flowers look a bit like sea anemones. :)

Sweet November Spotlight on... Kadie!

Hello friends!

It seems like it's been sooo long but now it's finally time to start previewing the new Sweet November stamps for May. Before we dig in and get our hands dirty I want to shine the Sweet November Guest Gal spotlight on an uber talented and upbeat card maker whom I'm pretty sure I've been following since I first started blogging... please say a happy hello to Kadie Ensley!

Kadie is a card maker after my own heart. It is undeniable that she loves to stamp and can color right up there with the best of them, but she is also passionate about playing with and mixing lots of patterned papers on her projects as well. Not only does she have a keen eye for color combos but Kadie also layers her paper backgrounds in unique and interesting ways that can't help but inspire if you ever feel yourself getting into a design rut. Kadie's cards easily transition from cute and sweet to polished and elegant yet whatever the style she is working in you can always see the love that she has for her craft. She is a positive and vibrant member of our little stamping/card making community and that is why I am so excited to have her joining us for this release! :)

 1) What color do you feel represents your personality and why?
Orange has always been my color of choice and it's not because I use it in a lot of things or wear it very often, it's because growing up people always said "blue" or "green" or "purple" and I thought orange deserved a chance too! I think I've always associated myself with the color of orange because it tends to sometimes get overlooked, but whenever you see orange, you can’t help but smile. It helps to make things bright and cheerful. I hope that I can be like orange in that way. :)

 

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?
My personal style is VERY laid back. I'm a jeans and sweater gal all the way. My card making style is similar in one way, I usually always start with the same basic foundation every time and build up from there. After that I like to try different things and can be somewhat of a perfectionist at times...ie: I do all my stitching by hand.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?
Music! I love music of all kinds.
 

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?
The 80's! Oh, wait, I did live the 80's and I had a blast! Some people might say those were crazy times, but it was a fun decade to grow up in. Haha, I want to go back to the future!

I would also love to visit the time and place in history when Jesus was alive. I can only imagine what that would have been like.

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why?
Oh, this is a hard one because I could see myself as any of them at one point or for different reasons, but I think I will go with elf. I think elves generally spread joy and I would like to have that job!

If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?

Tina. She is quiet a lot of the time, but that makes it all the more compelling when she does have something to say. She also has her own style and is not afraid to be who she is in the face of adversity. She is kind and sensitive to the needs of others. I only wish that my guy had killer moves like hers does!!

Check out the super cute card that Kadie created featuring the hoppy little Tulip Bunny Baby. Her coloring is just fantastic and I love how she has paired the stamps and border punches together to create a fun Easter scene as the main focus of her card. And her angled cuts on the background papers really caught my eye. With just a simple shift to a couple of diagonal lines Kadie has added so much movement and interest to the overall design that really gives this one a total WOW factor. So I suppose it is no surprise that I wanted to try my hand at a similar funky cut background. I chose Meadow the unicorn for my card because it has been awhile since she has pranced onto one of my cards and I missed her. Other than having a circular scene rather than an oval I pretty much CASEd Kadie right down to the button and twine bow... hey, why mess with a good thing?! Oooh... and I colored that little wood veneer bird with Copics this time and guys, I have to say that I think I'm loving the veneer embellies even more now! :)

Sweet November Spotlight on Sammi!

Hello!

Are you ready for some February Sweet November previews? I know! I can't believe it is that time already either! But before we start that all up again, I want to shine the Sweet November spotlight on February's very special SN Guest Gal... Sammi Betbeder!

One look at Sammi's mad coloring skills with Copic markers and it is no surprise to find out that she is the owner/operator of her own Aussie based store... Mad for Markers! Yep, I've been a follower and admirer of Sammi's for quite some time now and she has always had quite the way with markers and her card designing is just as impressive. Her imagination always shines through on everything that she creates and come to find out... she is also quite artistic in other ways as well. Recently Sammi has started sharing some of her own drawings and designs on her blog and I'm sure that this is the start of a whole new adventure for her! :)

1) What color do feel represents your personality and why?

Purple - It is the colour for passion, romance and sensitivity. It is mysterious... a mixture of coolness and warmth (just like me) lol!

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?

Perhaps... I am not sure of what my "style" is totally as it changes around a lot... bits of this and that... I guess that is the same for my dress and home as well as my card-making! lol

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?

Mmm... my lovely hubby, Guy, my copics, coffee and chatting with good friends/family - oops...was supposed to be only one thing! sorry!

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?

I would love to be alive at the time of Jesus' life and the early church... I think it would have been an exciting time!

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why?

Mmm, hard one there... I think I would be a fairy- to be pretty, dainty, graceful, mischievous. ;)

6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?

I'd love to say Rachel, as I would love to sing that well... but in reality I guess the character I am most like is Emma- sweet & nice (well that's what people think hehe) and would do anything to help others... and whilst I am not totally obsessive compulsive like she is, I so have "some" obsessive inclinations!

LOL, it's always nice to meet another 'slightly' OCD crafter... great answers Sammi!

Check out the stunning card that Sammi created featuring the ever dreamy Princess Isadora. I can't get over how much like actual satin her dress looks... amazing! And the tree branch that she drew and colored... it nearly leaves me speechless. WOW! The over-all layout design may be a simple one but it is the scene that Sammi created which totally transports the viewer to another place and time. Love it! So for my CASE of Sammi's card I just had to ink up a Sweet November Princess too. I chose the serene Princess Ilyse and flipped the sketch on it's side. Then I concentrated on creating a scene for Ilyse to live in. I decided it would be fun to create a 'tower' using a Sizzix brick embossing folder and some grey cardstock that I then inked with some Pumice Stone Distress ink for added dimension. And yes, I do realize that I've got yet another yellow and grey combo going on here but what else was I going to do when working with a stone tower? I couldn't fight it. ;)

Sweet November Spotlight on Marion!

Hello, hello!

Well folks, it's a brand new year and with that comes some brand new Sweet November previews for January. But before we start that party I want to shine the Sweet November spotlight on the newest full-time SN Gal... Marion van Eijsden! While Marion technically joined us with last month's release, I didn't get a chance back then to well and truly give her the introduction that she so deserves. :)

Marion is an amazing colorist, not only with Copic markers but also colored pencils. As a crafter and cardmaker she isn't afraid to experiment and try out different techniques to enhance her designs. Marion's eye for embellishing is rich and eclectic but always thoughtful in how to best enhance whatever stamp she is pairing them with. She's definitely a girl who loves her paper and products just as much as her stamping... something that I can totally relate to, LOL!

1) What color do feel represents your personality and why?
My favorite colors are Pink and Red... and I love to combine them. I have them both combined in my home decorations and I just love, love it. The Red is my outgoing and happy side and the Pink is my soft and gentle side. And together they are well balanced.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?
Oh my… I think it is… I don’t think that I have a specific style in card making. I try to make a card according to my feeling that I get from the day, papers and stamp. My home is styled according to what I love and not to what is Hot. But most people that come here love the way my house looks and feels.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?
Only one thing???? Pffff… Crafting, my cats and nowadays… my assistance dog Sjors. Who has a great sense of feeling my mood and giving me the comfort that I need.

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?
The time of King Arthur and Camelot and most of all I would love to meet Merlin!

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why?
I would love to be a fairy… I once edited my face to a digital stamp of a fairy… giggle… but with my real size… no chance I will ever look like one. Perhaps I should ask Amy to make a chubby fairy?? I would love that!!

6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?
That is simple, I think that would be Artie. I’m disabled too and still live in the middle of the world and don’t let my handicap get in my way!!!!

Now take a look at the gorgeous card featuring Adorn D. Yard that Marion created. The depth of color that she achieved on this image is beyond amazing... move over Frosty because this snowgal has come to life! And the layers of papers and textures support the lovely scene perfectly. For my CASE of Marion's card, I chose Winter Kid Tess to play with in a very non-winter setting. I followed her over-all layout design very closely because the off set layers aren't something that I normally do but I loved the look. And the embellishment cluster down in the corner was a real nice balance to the main image. :)

Ok, so tomorrow Marion, Nancy, Rachel and myself are going to get this party started! Yep, the January release is shaping up to be quite a celebration so you will not want to miss the Sweet November sneak peek week!

Sweet November Spotlight on Mette!

Olo!

Here we are once again... time to start previewing the new Sweet November stamps for December. But before we meet the new winter funsters I want to shine the Sweet November Guest Gal spotlight on a wonderfully talented card maker and super sweet bloggin' friend... please say hello to Mette Reedman!

Mette is a total sweetheart and I have been enjoying her and her cards through her blog for a couple years now. She is a very inspiring CAS style stamper/card maker who has a style that I just adore. Mette has a refined use of embellishing and even though she doesn't pile on the layers of paper, her finished cards are proof that she doesn't need to. She has such an eye for choosing just the right printed paper to accentuate her stamped images that it brings to mind the old adage... less is more. Mette also has eclectic tastes in stamps and she can rock the guy cards just as much as the girly, that is part of the reason why I am so excited to have her joining us for this release. That and she just does fantastic things with SN stamps in general. :)

Now it's time for Mette to answer the Sweet November questionnaire... which I always look forward to reading!

1) What color do you feel represents your personality and why?
Citrus colours. They are fresh, happy and remind me of sun and lazy days with a bit of zest.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?
I don't really have a home/dress style with 3 kids in the house. I used to be very organized and coordinated before having kids lol. But being danish my style (without kids) would be very Scandinavian.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?
My kids can both put me in a good mood and make me lose it lol. I love receiving letters and comments on my blog always make me smile.

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?
I'd go back to the Tudor times. I am a huge history Geek and although it was a dangerous period, full of intrigue and death, it was also the time in history which helped shape England to what it is today. I admire strong and independent women.

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll, wizard, witch etc., what kind would you be and why?
I would be a fairy - I love helping people and spreading joy.

6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?
I do watch Glee but none of the characters are like me. I hate being the centre of attention so this spotlight is a little nervy for me.

Now take a peek at the beautiful card featuring Azalea that Mette created! I love the woodsy/nature feel of this CAS design paired with one of the Twisted Sisters. I think it is an unexpected and fabulous idea to turn her into a forest dwelling wood sprite and the paper choices couldn't be more perfect to set that scene. For my CASE of Mette's card, I chose Snowflake Fairy Eira to play with. Then I followed the layout closely because I love how she used the layers of papers to create the vertical strips and the placement of the stamped image off to the side of the card for added interest and balance. :)

Ok, so I've got some more big news... not only is Mette joining Nancy and myself but we have also added a new full time SN Gal to the ranks... Marion van Eijsden! Yep, this is shaping up to be a super fun December Sweet November sneak peek week! Come back tomorrow 'cause there are some new kids on the SN block and they are ready for some winter playtime. ;)
