Sweet November spotlight on Elaine

Hello my lovelies!

It's that time again... time to start gearing up for another Sweet November Stamps preview week! That also means I've got June's SN guest gals to introduce you to first... yep, I said gals. And we're kicking off summer with a whole school of mermaids and a couple other friends so with that much goodness to share it was all hands on deck, LOL!

And without further ado let me introduce you to Elaine Hughes! Elaine is a brilliant card maker who constantly has me ooohing and ahhhhing over her latest creations and mad skills with Copic markers! She has been a cheerleader for Sweet November since the very beginning and her love of the images shines through on every card she makes with them and that always puts a smile on my face. :)

Now for my favorite part of the spotlight... the crazy, fun SN questionnaire!

1) What color do feel represents your personality and why?
My favourite colours are blue-greens, I find them soothing and inspiring (and I tend to need a lot of soothing!). To a degree they probably represent me as I tend to associate them with creativity.

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?
If my style of card making is considered haphazard, then sure. Hah! Really, I think my card making is way more stylish than my wardrobe or home decor. I'm way more adventurous with colour and patterns in my crafting.

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?
A good book. My main passion is reading, and I'm always happiest when I've got my nose buried in an absorbing chunky book!

4) If you could visit any time in history when would it be?
Probably Victorian times, as long as it's just a visit!

5) If you were a mythical creature ie. fairy, elf, mermaid, troll etc., what kind would you be and why?
Tough question! Choices, choices... I'm not sure really. If I were to be a fairy it would have to be the sort that you might find in a Charles de Lint story, a little bit edgy, more urban fantasy than high fantasy.

Bonus question

6) If you are a fellow Gleek, which character from McKinley High do you most identify with?

I love Glee! My favourite character has to be Sue Sylvester. She's a legend! That said, I probably identify most with Tina.

Absolutely fab answers Elaine!

So as always I've made my own card inspired by Elaine's gorgeous Ginger fairy creation and as you can see I played it really close to the original. I loved the idea of creating a background scene for my stamp with some floral paper and then using the strip of ribbon both as a perch for Clover and a tool to direct your eye from the flower embellishment back to her. Overall Elaine's card was such a fun design to lift and I love my resulting card almost as much as I love her original!
Ok, thanks for welcoming Elaine to the land of Sweet November... I'll be back in just a bit with the second spotlight post for the day. :)
Also, if you would like a sneak peek of some of the mermaids (with a chance to win all four) all you have to do is head on over to the ATS blog right now and leave a comment telling us which one is your fave!
