Hello, hello!
I'm up on the Bellariffic blog with this week's Scenic Saturday card. The Oddball Yeti caught my eye and with that droll look on his face I was inspired to create a sort of bah humbug type of Christmas card with him. Oddball Yeti is a pretty large stamp and he really fills the front of an A2 sized card so I stamped him front and center. His significant size doesn't leave a whole lot of space for a detailed background so I opted instead for a dark blue ice cave that would make his white fur really stand out. The trick to creating the icicles and snow drifts is to color in the negative space between them first so that dark blue interior defines the shapes of the lighter elements. Only then can you go back in and add the shading to the ice and snow that will elevate it from blank white space on your card stock to dimensional looking scenery.
To heighten the Christmas theme and play up Oddball Yeti's look of being so over all of the holiday hoopla, I used my Copic markers and a black multi liner pen to sketch in a simple strand of tangled Christmas lights at his feet. The struggle is real when it comes to holiday decorating, LOL! To complete the card, I stamped on a sentiment from the Yeti Sentiment set and to be honest, I think it looks like Oddball Yeti is ready for Christmas to be over already. ;)
Stay crafty my friends!
