Hello, hello!
It's a new Scenic Saturday card over on the Bellarific blog today. This week I thought it would be fun to give the Little Owl Trio a spooky Halloween twist with a faux post card design.
I recently got a new post card die set that I've been anxious to try out and the long, narrow design of the cute Little Owl Trio fit perfectly within the open space of the die. Once I had them stamped in place I had to decide what kind of card to make with them. The beauty of these pudgy little owls is that they can so easily work for both Fall and Halloween themed cards. The magic of spooky season ultimately led me to go in a subtle Halloween direction. Because owls are known for their big, bright eyes, the first thing I did was add the large golden iris around each pupil. This is an easy addition that really transforms the look of each little owl. All three were colored in soft grey tones so that they would look like a family of owls just hanging out in the woods on Halloween night. The sky and moon were air brushed in after I masked off the owls and I purposefully let the blue ink fade to white at the bottom of the post card so that the sentiment from the Frightful and Delightful Sentiment set could be easily read. The addition of the postage stamp with the silhouette of a witch flying through the air helps to drive home the magical Halloween theme. :)
Stay crafty my friends!
