Hello!
It's officially fall here in the northern hemisphere so I wanted to celebrate the season with this week's Scenic Saturday post over on the Bellarific Blog. I've been waiting ages to finally ink up this beautiful Mochi Fall Girl stamp with her crown of leaves and warm and cozy outfit. I just love how large she is and how she fills the front of a standard A2 sized card front. The larger size of the Mochi Girls also provides a lot more opportunity for practicing adding detail and shading to faces in a more realistic way than most of the other characters in the Stamping Bella shop. Plus, it doesn't hurt that they are just so pretty, LOL! With more room on the clothing I decided to have some fun adding in different textures there as well. First I added a cable knit pattern to her sweater then I used a scrap piece of an old sock to dab Copic colorless blender onto her scarf and mittens to give them a fleece like appearance. Because Mochi Fall Girl takes up so much room on her own I decided to give her a quick and simple background to live in. The space behind her was divided in half with the top colored in as cloudy sky and the bottom as well worn fall grass. In between the two I added a row of trees way off in the distance, full of autumn color. Dividing the space this way doesn't require any skills of playing with perspective yest easily tells the story of where our lovely Mochi girl finds herself on this chilly fall day. So don't be afraid to give it a try the next time you want to add a little something behind your stamped characters. :)
Stay crafty my friends!
