Flowers are like friends...

TGIF!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today with a sweet friendship card using the Flower Friends set from the new release. One of my all time favorite Hello Bluebird stamp sets has been Fall Friends and I've been longing for spring, summer and winter versions of these cute clothed critters for quite awhile. So to say I was excited to see Flower Friends for the first time is quite the understatement.

I don't usually create square cards but the frame on the new Rainbow Square die is so pretty and feminine that I really wanted to use it with the darling Flower Friends. I cut it and a panel to build my scene on out of Catherine Pooler white card stock and began stamping and masking my scene together using my Misti stamp platform and Memento Rich Cocoa ink. To make it look like the deer is standing slightly behind the others I stamped the bunny and fox first, then covered them both with masks. Because I didn't want the fox tail to be in front of the deer as well, I only inked the base of it before stamping. That way, once the deer was also stamped in place and I began coloring with my Copic markers, I could simply color in the small portion of the tail that is seen. The only stamp in this colorful spring scene that isn't part of the Flower Friends set is the fence, which I borrowed from the Party on the Farm set. I had a lot of fun not only coloring the brightly hued flowers in our friends' bouquets and pots but also adding those same hues to the field behind them. By simply stippling in patches of small dots in various colors, then adding some green around them it creates the illusion of those wild flowers extending way off into the distance. But my most favorite things to color are the cute critters and their adorable outfits. I love adding pretty prints to their ensembles and of course these sweeties needed floral prints to go with their obvious fondness for flowers. ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy a wonderfully crafty weekend!
