Happy Easter...

TGIF my friends!

I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog today and this year the Easter holiday is being celebrated at the end of March which means it is time for me to get into Easter card making mode. I've been excited to use the Postage Frame die that came out in the Christmas release with a different holiday theme and all of the cute spring and Easter stamp sets in the store make this the perfect time to play with it again. I chose the adorable chicks and bunnies from the Easter Egg Hunt set to be the stars of this show and then fleshed out these mini postage scenes with a few accessory images from the Little Painters and Picked For You sets. With my Catherine Pooler Select white card stock cut into the sheet of postage stamps I used long strips of masking tape along the perforated edges to mask in a frame for the images I stamp inside each square using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I tried to keep the overall design fairly balanced by first stamping the chicks in opposing corners. I then added the bunnies in a diagonal line across the card and the four remaining postage squares where filled with Easter eggs, paint and spring flowers. Now I was ready to grab my Copic markers and start coloring, choosing a fresh spring inspired color palette full of pretty pastels.

With the postage scenes colored and ready it was now time to put the rest of the card together. I chose a light yellow card stock for my card base and used the In the Meadow Background stamp and Catherine Pooler Limoncello ink to create the tone on tone floral print on the front. Using foam adhesive I added the colored panel to the center of the card, giving it just a bit of lift for added interest. The sentiment is a mix of a stamp from the Easter Egg Hunt set and the Jane Small Alpha dies. As a cute finishing touch, I found some Doodlebug enamel shapes in my craft stash that matched the look of the flowers in the In the Meadow Background and were a perfect match to the colors in the scenes. All together this creates a cheery and sweet Easter card that has a lot going on but still comes across as fairly clean and organized thanks to the Postage Frame die.  :)

Toodles!
