Too cute to spook...

Hi there!

Things are busy, busy, busy around here so I'm just jumping in with a couple more cards that I made for the Halloween clear release a few months back at Sweet November Stamps. Both of these cards use the adorable, Halloween Plushies set and the long slimline was actually created for the YouTube Hop during release weekend so you can watch it come together here.

My second card uses the little spider from the Halloween Plushies set and relies on a bunch of dies to complete this clean and simple design.

Alrighty, I've really gotta run. Have a good one!

Oceans of love...

Hello, hello!

I couldn't resist getting another one of the retired Sweet Pea mermaids by Elisabeth Bell onto a card this summer. I went with Oceanessa this time round and stuck with a pretty purple and blue color scheme for her and her noble seahorse. I was going for a shiny, silver look to her tail which I think adds to her cool North Atlantic look. They look ready to swim away with the current off on another grand adventure. :)

Later gators!

A sun-sational friend...

Hey there!

Today I've got a retired beauty from Sweet Pea Stamps called Shell Whisperer. The way she is sitting on that rock I knew she would be the perfect stamp to try out my new Beach Scene Builder dies with. I can't even tell you how much fun it was playing with those dies. It took me back to my paper piecing days before I took up stamping, which is well over 10 years ago now... yikes! Anywho, the die cut pieces came together so seamlessly that I had that background created in no time flat. An island home for this pretty little island mermaid. My sister actually suggested the color combo for her tail and I'm really glad that I tried my hand at this purple to gold look because the results are quite striking. :)

Alrighty, I've got a busy day ahead of me so I best get myself ready for it. TTFN!

In my thoughts...

Hello, hello!

Since I kicked off this 'month of mermaids' with one of the darlings by Elisabeth Bell I figured it would be the perfect bookend to wrap it all up with another one of these sweet mermaids. This one is called Splish Splash and it looks like she has just swam up out of the water to rest on that cool stone seat. Her wet, dripping hair really inspired me to create a waterfall behind her. To do that, I masked her off then grabbed my Distressed Patterns stamp set and stamped the sketchy lines stamp repeatedly behind her in a very light blue ink. I then added the white sequins to mimic the frothing water at the bottom of the falls. Something about Splish Splash had me going in a 'thinking of you' direction for my card as well as a more muted color palette. There is just something very quiet and gentle about this little beauty.

Alrighty then, thanks for stopping by today!  :)

Mermaid kisses...

Hello, hello!

So sorry about yesterday's lack of post... there was a last minute change in the TGF release and I had to pull my card for a later date. I didn't catch the info 'til the morning so there was just no time to make a replacement card. But now I'm back with another mermaid swimming on to the scene. She's another one of the retired Elisabeth Bell mermaids from Sweet Pea Stamps called, Little Splash. I love how it looks like she has swam right up onto the beach and is just chillin'. So of course I had to create a scene to reflect that. Out came the Distress Inks and a bit of watercolor beach and sea, a Sharpie white marker provided the sea foam and clouds perfectly. Then I die cut a few starfish to tie it all together with the great sentiment that I got recently from Reverse Confetti.  :)

Ok friends, I'll see ya tomorrow!

Stars and back...

Hey there!

As some of you may remember, last year I dubbed June as the Month of Mermaids and posted nothing but cards featuring our lovely finned friends. Well I'm doing it again, and while this time there will be a day here or there that I have to leave the open ocean, that just means I get to extend the mermaid love right on into July.  ;)

So today I am jumping into the water with a lovely mermaid from Sweet Pea Stamps called Glimmer. I missed out on her back in 2013 when she and her sisters were released but I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few just in time for this summer's cards. As I inked up Glimmer I suddenly saw her in a moonlit night scene for some reason. Pulling off the background was definitely a challenge but I enjoy stretching my creative muscles now and then. And I gotta tell ya that I don't think I've used this many blue Copics on a single card before, LOL! Once I had the sea and sky colored in the card still looked incomplete so I grabbed the little school of fish stamp and the willow branches which totally did the trick. Now Glimmer looks like she is resting in a hidden cove with only the stars looking down on her.

Ok then, thanks for stopping by today! :)

Leave a little sparkle...

Olo!

So last month I saw a card on Pinterest using a pretty little mermaid stamp by Elisabeth Bell and I just had to get my hands on it. So I immediately tried to find out where to buy it only to discover that they were released a couple years ago by Sweet Pea Designs which has since gone out of business. Disheartened but not discouraged I continued my internet search hoping to get lucky. After a couple strike outs I stumbled upon a little stamp shop that is sadly closing its doors as well but in the meantime has big discounts on all their remaining inventory. It's called The Stamp Room and while the exact mermaid that started my hunt was already out of stock I did find a few others to get just as excited about. I also stumbled upon this baby fairy called Flit that just stole my heart. I paired her up with some random paper scraps that were on my desk and kinda make it look like she is running into a field of flowers. The sentiment is Papertrey Ink and I think it is pretty darn perfect with little Flit. This card was a lot of fun to make.
In the meantime... if anyone knows where I can find Tide, Oceanessa and/or Little Splash please, hook a girl up!  LOL! :)
