TGIF my friends!
Today I'm on the Greeting Farm blog with a card celebrating how much fun it is to mix the old with the new. It's amazing how these new digital scene builders can breathe new life into the classic character stamps already sitting in your collection. As I was playing with the 4th of July Decor set at the beginning of the month it struck me that many of the elements included in it wouldn't have to be used exclusively for patriotic themed cards. Looking at the decorative rosettes I was inspired to group a bunch of them together in various sizes to create a colorful party wall, much like you find at birthday parties as a place that is set up for picture taking. Running with that idea I knew just the Anya that I wanted posing for her birthday photo... Anya Lifts. Man, I can't tell you how much I miss these long and lanky Big Time Anyas. Their larger footprint really fills a card front nicely and gives you lots to work with in your coloring. We didn't get enough of them if you ask me, but I'm a greedy little stamper... LOL!
Anywho, I knew that Anya Lifts could hold her own even with the riot of color happening behind her on the party wall. So I stamped her onto a 4.25"x 5.5" piece of card stock and masked her off. Next I digitally put my rosettes together and printed them on plain old computer paper. Once I had that I grabbed the card stock with Anya on it, went to a well lit window and placed her over the rosettes until she was situated where I wanted her and taped the card stock to the paper before running it through my printer a second time. All I had to do after that was remove the mask protecting Anya and she was suddenly standing there ready to party! A sentiment from the retired Say B-Day set was all I needed to finish off this celebratory scene. So there ya go, a holiday digi set has been expanded beyond its original use and an older stamp got some renewed love... win/win!
