There is a new mood board challenge up on the Hello Bluebird blog and this one is a pretty pastel birthday theme. To play along you can create as many projects as you like inspired by the board, then share your creations on Instagram with the unique hashtag #hellobluebirdbirthdaychallenge You must include this hashtag when you post your projects on Instagram so they can be counted as entries. At the end of the month one winner will be randomly selected to receive a $50 gift certificate to the HB shop... how awesome is that?! 

Because today is the official start to MerMay I thought it would be fun to ink up one of the mermaids in the Sea Friends stamp set and turn the card into an under the sea birthday party. I borrowed the party hats from the Party on the Farm set and the presents from the Greetings Bear set and by stamping and masking I was able to make it look like the mermaid and her narwhal friend are both decked out for the party. I added a couple of fish and the sea turtle for more party guests before masking them off too and then using the Copic airbrush system to color in the blue background. In a coordinating blue ink I added the bubbles and silhouette fish to the background before adding the die cut pieces that I got from the Ocean Floor Slimline Scene die all colored up and with a few other images stamped onto the sandy bottom. The sentiment is from the Birthday Script set and I think it brings the whole happy scene together.  :)
