Hello!
The summer heat has been beating down lately so I wanted to head to the beach for this week's Scenic Saturday post here on the Bellarific blog. I hadn't yet inked up the cute duo that make up the Mini Oddballs Playing in the Sand so they were more than ready to find themselves playing at the sea shore.
Because the Mini Oddballs Playing in the Sand image tells the complete story of these two kids playing in the sand, I didn't have to do any of my usual masking to put characters together. This can be a big time saver and it feels great to be able to simply stamp once and start coloring every now and then. Stamping the kids in the center of the card front gave me equal space for coloring in both the beach and sky, divided by a narrower band of ocean waves behind them. A simple yellow and blue color scheme is predominant throughout the entire card, creating the feeling of a summer day full of warm sunshine and cool water. Once I had the scene all colored up, I felt like it needed a little something extra added to the story. So, I grabbed a black multi-liner pen and sketched in the sailboat silhouettes and seagulls flying off in the distance. The sentiment at the bottom of the card is also part of the Mini Oddballs Playing in the Sand set and it was the perfect way to tie everything together. :)
Stay crafty my friends!
