Release day at Hello Bluebird!

Good morning!

The wait is almost over because today is release day at Hello Bluebird! The new September Fall and Halloween kits will hit the virtual shelves at 7pm MDT tonight and you'll want to check them out early because once something sells out it will not be restocked. To help celebrate I've got two cards to share using the darling squirrels from the new Nuts for Fall set that will be included in the larger expanded kit option.

First up is a mini slimline scene where I've gone a bit outside my coloring comfort zone. Rather than create an entire scene, I've instead stamped some of the playful squirrels directly onto the large leaf dies from the Colors of Fall die set, which is an add-on this month. Once I had them all colored into little grey squirrels with matching fall colored backgrounds I positioned the leaves falling down the length of the mini slimline background. The large Fall Words die that is included in the expanded kit was glued down first along with the acorns that are also in the Colors of Fall die set. All but one of the leaves were added using foam adhesive, to lift them up and make it easier for them to overlap each other and the rest of the elements already added to the card. I'll be honest, it felt a bit odd not creating a scene but everything about this card just makes me smile.  :)

My second card finds two of the Nuts for Fall squirrels resting on a branch together, one appears to be gifting the other with a yummy acorn. To change things up a bit, I colored these cuties as little red squirrels and embraced a more clean and simple design. Gallery Frame #1 surrounds the simple blue sky background and I filled the empty space below the branch with a sentiment that I cut out using the Knightley LC Large Alpha dies. The rest of the sentiment is also included in the Nuts for Fall set and another acorn die cut from the Colors of Fall die set was the perfect finishing touch for this sweet belated birthday card.

Alrighty, have fun shopping!

The apple of my eye...

Hey, hey!

I've got another sneak peek of the new Hello Bluebird September Fall kit to share with you before it goes Live for purchase tomorrow, September 16th at 7pm MDT. This adorable family of bears are from the Apple Picking set that will be included in the larger expanded kit option. Everything you need to create this sweet harvest scene is in the set, from the bears to the apple tree, even the step ladder and bin of apples. All I had to do was stamp and mask them together into this specific configuration. But if masking isn't your thing, have no fear because the kit also includes the coordinating dies to cut out all of those various images. Once I had the scene colored, I framed it using the Gallery Frame #4 die and some dark brown card stock. Heck, even the sentiment is from the Apple Picking set and it is too perfect with this happy harvesting family.  :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

You're not a basic witch...

Hello again!

It's a review weekend at Sweet November Stamps but there is some extra Halloween fun happening in the store as well. Last October we ran Instagram and Facebook Halloween challenges where everyone who completed either one could earn a witchy digital stamp that would be exclusive to challenge participants for one year. Well, now both of those digis have finally been added to the store for anyone to purchase. This is the Spooky Spell Caster and she is our more mature looking witch, seen here casting an incantation under the light of a full moon. If you would like to see the coloring of this card there is a short Reel on Instagram and a longer speed coloring over on the Sweet November Stamps YouTube channel

Later this morning at 11am PDT I will be Live on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page creating with the second new addition to the store, Sylvie. Hope you can join me for some more Halloween magic!

Autumn Wishes...

Hi friends!

It's another Scenic Saturday post on the Blogabella and this week I've inked up a cute older stamp called, The Gnome and the Squirrel. This one has been in my crafty stash for a while now, just waiting to be inked up. With the nights getting cooler and the leaves beginning to change, this felt like the perfect time to get these two on a card celebrating the season.

I began by inking them up using a dark drown ink rather than black, to give the card  a slightly softer look. The fluffy squirrel and the gnome where both colored in earthy autumnal colors before I set in on the rest of the scene. A large tree root directly behind the gnome helps play up their diminutive size, while on the other side of the card you see more of the tree trunk which makes that tree appear to be further off in the distance. To continue playing up that sense of space within the scene I extended the field of green grass half way up the card front then topped it off with a hedge row of Fall colored trees. This simple technique provides just enough background to be interesting yet not too distracting from this friendly pair exchanging tasty acorns. The sentiment is from the Autumn Sentiment set and it keeps the theme of the card general enough that I can send it for any number of occasions that may come up this time of year.  :)

Stay crafty my friends!
