Good company...

Hey there!

Today I'm up on the Hello Bluebird blog sharing a slimline card that I've made using a mash-up of several new and older Hello Bluebird stamp sets. Even though I was pulling stamps from so many different sets, it was the new Flying High set that inspired the entire scene. The cute groups of animals made to hang out of a hot air balloon basket also work great in a number of different environments. A couple of weeks ago I made a card using just the elephants peeking over a wall, this time around I wanted to tackle an idea that was a bit more ambitious.

I had the idea to create a tall slimline scene that featured a whole host of woodland critters hanging out in their apartment building. I could use the same "snow bricks" from the Snowball Fight set that I used to create a stone wall on my last HB card, as window ledges and roof of this building. First I had to lightly sketch in where the windows and front door would be using a pencil, I could then start stamping in all the residents. Like I said before, these cuties come from a number of different sets. Out front on the stoop are the bear and bunny from the Besties set and close behind them is the adorable beaver from the Moose and Friends set. Because the bear and bunny are both wearing shirts I took that as a cue to add shirts to all of the other animals as well. In that downstairs window is a bunny from the Flying High set and a squirrel from the Woodland Word Buddies set

Upstairs we find a raccoon from the Woodland Word Buddies set who is decorating her window sill with a potted plant from the Bloom and Grow set. There is also the bear and fox  hanging out up there as well as a couple of birds on the roof top, all from the Flying High set. I had a lot of fun adding colorful window dressings and clothing to help brighten an otherwise rather neutral card front.

The sentiment was borrowed from the Besties set and really captures the fun and friendly vibe of this neighborly scene. A scene that came together using stamps from sets in a variety of themes but work for this one theme through just a bit of masking, selective inking and creative placement. So never be afraid of getting creative with the stamps in your craft stash.  :)

Stay crafty my friends!

I LOVE how you used different sets together. This is SO CUTE, and reminds me of the good ol' days--when I visited NYC regularly.....
