'Tis the season...

Olo!

Have you seen the super cute gnomes over at Mo's Digital Pencil lately? There are so many great ones to choose from that it was hard to pick who would get on a card first. In the end I couldn't resist little Frode with his big ol' candy cane. I paired him with one of the funky trees from the Gnome Tree set and made it nice and tall so that my scene would fill a slimline card front. The background is a simple snow scene at night, notice that most of the 'snow' is actually colored blue and yet it still reads as snow. Don't be afraid to add quite a bit of color when doing a night scene like this, it's all about leaving strategic bits of white paper showing here and there. Frode got a very Santa-like red suit but I wanted to shake things up a bit by adding a simplified fair isle knit pattern to his cap and a bit of blanket stitching to the hems of his coat. Then I grabbed my new Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof white that Melissa recommended and added a bunch of snow falling. I gotta say, this stuff is awesome! Soooo much better than the Copic Opaque white both in application and in not drying out so darn quick. You need to have your own tiny brush or stylus to apply it but other than that this stuff is a winner in my book!

Talk at'cha later!

Oh, my, this is fabulous! I just love your extra touches - the fair isle pattern on the hat, the blanket stitching (did you use the bleed proof white for those as well?), the phenomenal snow and sky... wow!
