Hey there!
It's time for a new Scenic Saturday over on the Bellarific blog and with June well upon us that must mean it is time for a new Year of Flowers card featuring the Tiny Townie Garden Girls. June's flower is Rose, the queen of the garden, and what a beauty she is. Roses may be armed with thorns but there is nothing prickly about this sweet Garden Girl. My goal with the background was to try and capture the warmth of a summer day, when the heat releases that heady scent of the blooming roses until it completely fills the air. I started by laying down a glowing yellow sky on the top half of my card. Next I stippled in some trees or bushes using lighter green markers, which helps them appear further in the distance. Then it was time to add in the hedge of blooming roses behind our queen of the garden. When adding in flowers like this don't start with the greenery. First sketch in your blooms then add the leafy greens all around them, otherwise you will be left trying to add color over the green and that doesn't always work so well. To finish it off all Rose needed was a well manicured lawn to be standing on. The sentiment is from the Curvy Girl with a Sign stamp set and I thought it was perfect since roses and love go hand in hand. :)
Stay crafty my friends!
